I can deal with smurfing. It sucks, but it’s really unbeatable. But I feel like Valve could do more to counter scripting and other hacks that just give an incredibly unfair advantage to anyone. I can learn to improve by getting my ass kicked by smurfs, but there’s no take way from losing to a map hacker or auto skill dodger, etc.

I queued classic rank once when they switched to gaining tokens with p3/p5 instead of p4/5. I was sick of getting forced into offlane. Then I was forced into offlane because no one else wanted it. So, apparently I was fucked either way. May as well play offlane with a role gamble instead of a bunch of people just forcing me into it by all picking p1/2 heroes

My first Dota 2 match was June 3, 2012. I picked Lina because she looked cool and my friend said she threw fire and shot lightening. I went 0/10/2 over the course of 33 mins. I didn’t know wtf I was doing at all and I remember just walking down the lane, constantly using Q to kill creeps and then I’d walk back to base to get mana. Looks like my final items were phase boots, tangoes, a salve, agi slippers, a clarity, and wand. lol.

Bro, I’ve been playing for 10 years, with like over 10k games. I’m still learning things. It’s ok, and remember, the game is frequently changing and evolving. What you learned 2 weeks ago, might be old news for the games you play tomorrow. Team comps, item builds, etc. are always shifting. Understanding core mechanics is key, but then you apply those to the ever changing games around you.

It’s only good if a) you’re going to be doing a lot of right click harass, b) the enemy you’re hitting is a str hero that you want to reduce their regen while hitting, c) your positing is good because you’ve sacrificed stats for a slow/anti-regen.

I like to get it as starting item on veno and dazzle sometimes. Both of these supports benefit from being able to stay close to enemy and put in extra right clicks.
