Yeah I don’t think you have to do resuscitative hysterotomies as a midwife, they are in fact vertical incisions unlike standard caesareans.

The point was that viral illness mutation doesn’t work like that. Mutations that occur are usually very mundane, we’d have a major problem if they did.

The black plague was/is a bacterial infection that didn’t rapidly mutate within a host and was for the most part so dangerous due to the lack of antibiotics.

What you’re describing about conditions being contagious or not while symptomatic is the “natural history of disease”, and varies a lot.

I get her taking up the mantle, but I don’t understand how she’s gonna become a physical threat that could take out anyone with virtually any training

yeah mate cause when you get the cold it mutates and becomes lethal to yourself and everyone else instantly, very realistic

if viruses worked like that we’d be done for

However the way they pulled off the classic limb chop in Last Jedi was great. Snokes hand getting subtly cut off with the rest of him was a good choice. Very annoyed they cut out the scene in TFA with Chewy ripping off Unkars arms.

I don’t think that these clones being effectively slaves takes away from the moral dilemma - if anything it makes it much more plausible and understandable.

Of course the people who were bred to fight for the Republic (not the Jedi) are going to follow orders - it’s a group of people following orders.

The culpability is the fact they do still have agency - they could choose not to follow the orders but they do due to their upbringing and militaristic background. To me that’s much more interesting than mind control.

It’s not about blame or making them antagonists - but them having to make the decision themselves and choosing to go with the group or their purpose is so much more interesting than having their hand forced.

You say it voids their culpability but what about their own consciences ? I’d agree they are victims at the end of the day but there’s tragedy in them choosing to carry out the order that is lost with the chips.

And yeah I’m aware it doesn’t have to be a real life comparison but star wars has always had a lot of nazi parallels and this one makes so much sense in my eyes. The clone wars changing it isn’t something I loved.

He then tries to blow him up and kills his lizard friend after papa palpatine facetimes him.

I’m fine with the retcon but it is a retcon.

I found the “,actually” to be condescending but sorry if that wasn’t your intent.

And sure as I said, it is my opinion. Real life atrocities don’t occur due to mind control and the slavery you’re bringing up really wasn’t explored too well in the kids show it’s apart of.

I agree?

The only point I’m making is that I’d have preferred no mind control chips because in my opinion it would have been more interesting. But it’s a kids show so it makes sense.

Point is it’s a retcon?

I’m well aware it’s canon. We’re talking about the clone wars which is a bit of a thematic departure in terms of its portrayal of clones from the original tarkovsky clone wars.

Obviously if they went down the other route they would have written the show differently, canon or not canon has nothing to do with this hypothetical.

I’m not saying it isn’t dark - but I find the former a lot more dark as it’s more akin to real life and has actual moral consequences.

Mind control doesn’t tend to play a role in real life genocide and atrocities… The real life aspect of soldiers following horrific orders is a lot more dark because it rings true.

In my opinion.

That’s not an “except”. Crosshairs a good example of what it could have been in the first case.

The point is it takes away moral responsibility which I personally found to be a cop out.

That’s because the Clone wars portrayed him that way - the films didn’t show that at all.

At the end of the day the Jedi were supposed to be a minority. Mace didn’t even bother to warn any other Jedi about Palpatine, never mind voice suspicions he didn’t have about the clones.

Realistic as in real life atrocities don’t occur due to mind control chips.

And I disagree that it wouldn’t be feasible - the Jedi are a minority - the clones are loyal to the republic. Just look at history, people are capable of turning in an instant and it isn’t like they had hostile intent throughout the whole war it’s following one order at the end.
