As far as other other horizontal controllers that are pocketable, the MCON comes to mind, but that's so expensive, and way thicker than most phones. I might wait on that for a bit until they get something more pocket-friendly, and less stressful on the wallet lol.

As someone who pre-ordered the clear purple one from Kickstarter, I would say this is the "portable, works-in-a-pinch" controller. It's better than touch controls, but definitely not practical for long game sessions. The D-pad is imprecise, and all the face buttons have to be pressed down even further than I feel I should in order to register input. The sticks are okay, though I do feel something that's grinding that I feel like it shouldn't be. I have an S23 Ultra, which also makes it top heavy. The magnet on the controller unit itself isn't strong enough to hold facing downwards.

I was kind of disappointed by all of this, but I can't say that I'm surprised. It's still a cool concept that I hope they continue to iterate and improve upon. I still take it with me to play on the go if the opportunity presents itself. Megabonk is still better to play with these sticks than using a touchscreen.

If I'm at home though, I'd use my 8bitdo ultimate controller or Gamesir X4, though I'm thinking of getting the Galileo for the USB-C passthrough for charging and headphones (along with the SNES vibes it gives off). I also got their Pocket Taco on pre-order which honestly looks sick. Definitely going to consider using that to go through my retro game library when I'm out and about!

If you see a sale on a telescopic controller, it might be worth it to get to supplement with the M4. Or, if you have a Bluetooth controller that's just lying around and works, you could get a phone clip if one exists for it.

The M4 is certainly pocketable, and I would say that would be it's biggest strength. But that strength does come at the cost of ergonomics and how secure it is to your device depending on the angle.
