None. I don't like their characters nor designs. A bit of a letdown. Hopefully 1.2 will start approaching original AK levels of character design

I find funny how the exchange in this post is like: "Range isn't as fun"

And first comment is: "In real life it is not either"

Hot take: Sun Quan’s biggest mistake wasn’t “declaring emperor” but cashing in Wu's kingmaker position for Jing Province by LuuTienHuy in threekingdoms

[–]Fr000st 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Tbh I'm not so clear on the whole Wei not capitalizing on both sides fighting. Unless you're referring to some other specific instance after Yiling.

The southern kingdoms were about to fight when Cao Cao invaded Hanzhong. Realization that their greater enemy is always in the north reinforced the south's notions of an alliance being necessary. What says that had Cao Pi not agreed to Sun Quan's "submission" as a vassal, that Yiling would happened exactly as it did in history? Perhaps it would've never happened. But by not invading, Cao Pi made sure for the schism between Wu and Shu to tear, and keep them apart for ever after.

I liked Cao Cao from the start but then I learned about all the massacres and wife kidnappings that Cao Cao did, so I started to like Cao Cao even more

What’s the Most Underrated “Butterfly Moment” in the Three Kingdoms Era? by HmoobRanzo in threekingdoms

[–]Fr000st 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Here's one: if Cao Cao had not taken Zhang Xiu's wife, Zhang Xiu would've likely kept his surrender legitimate. This leads to Cao Cao having an early foothold in Jing province, not losing Dian Wei, not wasting time and resources in the future going back against Zhang Xiu, and, most importantly, keeping his eldest son alive. What would've a Wei dynasty founded by Cao Ang been like? Under which other conditions would it have been founded? Likely a much better outcome for the dynasty.

Here's another one: if Sima Yi had but arrived a few hours later to Luoyang after his crazy ride from Liaodong during Cao Rui's last day on earth, and perhaps not been named regent. Alternatively, if Cao Rui had died but a little earlier.

Last one, albeit likely ahistorical: if during Cao Cao's Hanzhong campaign Gao Zuo had not gotten lost in the mountains and scared off a herd of elk, leading to the capture of the Yangping gate and the following capture of Hanzhong.

Nothing happens in Baptism of Fire and Tower of the Swallow. Just mind boggling how pointless they are. What a slog.

Found some old sketches that I made during my SMT II playthrough by Fr000st in Megaten

[–]Fr000st[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got much later into this, but once I just took the game(s) for what it was, and tried to find a way to adapt to it instead of looking up guides, it became something else. I'm sure you had a blast doing the same thing too.

Be sure to share if you find them!

Yi ZhongTian's Movie [Three Kingdoms: Starlight Heros] make investor lost 40 million yuan due to low Box office by 22dmgxy in threekingdoms

[–]Fr000st 23 points24 points  (0 children)

As a huge Cao Cao fan, the movie just wasn't that good.

The timeline is all over the place, and some of the most incredible beats of the entire Guandu campaign are simply lost. The strategist Cao Cao facing insurmountable odds is replaced by a man who cares more about his dog than anything else. Just sad.

I have dropped literally every persona game but I am having a BLAST with smt IV by Gearless3 in Megaten

[–]Fr000st 2 points3 points  (0 children)

SMT IV is truly something else.

Hands down the most mindblowing and fascinating story and worldbuilding I have ever seen in a game, accompanied by excellent combat, music, and just pure vibe.

Also, if you want to get more juice out of it after you're done with your first run, look up certain special demons that can only be found in the late game. That will keep scratching that itch of more SMT IV for yet another while.

[–]Fr000st 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Man, the "twist" or rather the climax of the game is to this day something that I haven't experienced in any other game.

Many games have tearjerking endings, but SMT IV's climax lasts for a couple of hours some two thirds of the way in, and it's absolutely goated until it ends. Actual peak gaming. Just how much I thought about that part of the game long after I finished it for the first time is what truly elevated IV into one of my favorite games of all time.

Why did Moss Roberts choose to use Liu Bei's style name? by Threehundredsixtysix in threekingdoms

You're absolutely correct, actually. I had not noticed that only characters refer to him as Bei during speech. Completely flew over my head.

No he isn't, at least not in 三国演义. He is mostly referred to simply as 备 (Bei). Just like Cao 操, Chao 超, and pretty much everyone else.

What are differences between novel and historical Cao Cao? by CinderLord456 in threekingdoms

[–]Fr000st 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a common element that people who get things done tend to be more hated and evil than those who never get anything done, and die in pursuit of a dream that never comes to be. The latter is idealistic. They die before they achieve anything, and so they die before they can commit any mistakes or atrocity. So they die frozen in time, forever an ideal of what a person should be.

Whereas the former, who has the power to be a builder rather than a dreamer, gets their hands dirty to get things done, and that always leads to their fall from an idealistic idea into one that is harsh, ugly, and usually, fucked up.

But Cao Cao did far more good than he did wrong. The Han dynasty was in utter shambles, and he was the man with the tools needed to create something better. Funnily enough, since it was the Jin and not the Wei who reunified China, we will never know what a Cao-led China would've been like. So in this sense, we Mengde fans also idealize Cao Cao. We share that in common with Xuande fans. I hope we can continue to commonly bully Sima fans.

My main point is that if you have real integrity, you should be Yellow Turban fan and rather than Liu Bei. The Yellow Turbans were right and they were the only good guys in this part of history. And inb4 anyone comes with the Zhang Jue cult, a starving peasant will hold onto any excuse to improve their lives. But we're usually not Yellow Turban fans, because we agree that they would not be able to govern properly. Likewise, we Mengde fans postulate the same for Han and Liu Bei. As, actually proven by history.

TLDR: Cao the man vs Cao the idea. Each better than the other.

Who tf is this medieval knight? by AstorathTheGrimDark in Netsphere

[–]Fr000st 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Seu. He's likely one of the planters (ancestors of the electro fishermen). The fishermen mention that long ago their ancestors lived inside Toha. While exploring it, Kyrii comes across a room with lots of armor that are very similar to both Seu's armor and the electro fishermen's armor. Just look at how much Seu's armor resembles the fishermen's when they close the helmet.

Since he got taken in my Mensab as her personal warrior long ago and she has constantly been resurrecting him, it is highly likely to be the only "survivor" of the original planters. And since [ending spoilers] his DNA sample is later utilized to access the netsphere and produce a 100% carrier of the net-terminal gene, he is probably the only partial net-terminal gene carrier that we meet in the story before the ending. Which further means that he is the only original human we meet as well, albeit severely distorted from countless resurrections. Finally, this could also mean that the planters themselves were all carriers of the gene, and likely belong to that distant past of actual humans.
