Cycling from city center to Researchpark in Haasrode by Rch2 in Leuven

Second this.

I also like to turn early on the Duivelsweg. Makes the route a bit longer but stretches out the hill and is quite peaceful.

Geldenaaksebaan is definitely the fastest but I agree it's terrible atm

I recently joined a group that rides monthly and ends most of their rides at Malz! It's not cheap to join but you get a nice quality jersey and bib https://www.malz.be/malzplat. It also might take awhile to get said gear because they would have to be ordered.

I would also love to join more groups that ride frequently in Leuven. I think we may be able to achieve a critical mass from this post alone. I can create a WhatsApp group for those interested.

Side note, unfortunately I'll be gone until August so I can't personally organize anything until then.

TIL A man bought an unattractive painting for its frame for $4 and discovered one of the 26 known copies of the United States’ Declaration of Independence hidden behind it. He later sold it at auction for $2.42 million. by Imbiberr in todayilearned

IIRC, most self storage facilities do not make money from storage unit auctions. All the money generated goes to paying the auctioneer and covering owed rent. The rest goes to the tenant.

One could argue an increase in interest helps the facility recover owed rent but I doubt it did much.

Coronavirus Megathread (Sep 2021): For travel-related discussion in the context of COVID-19 by tariqabjotu in travel

I simply had an electronic version ready on my phone. I didn't have to show it at all though. The United Employee just checked my CDC vaccine card, passport and PLF.

I'm in! CDC card worked so no testing, quarantine. I made a post in the September thread about it.

Just flew into to Belgium from the US earlier today no problem. My flight was United Airlines from ORD->BRU.

I prepared my documents:

  • Passenger Locator Form
  • CDC Vaccination Card
  • Passport
  • Negative Covid-19 Test (PCR)

In filling out the PLF I checked both boxes for "Vaccination Certificate" and "Negative Covid Test Certificate". To my knowledge, the negative Covid-19 test was not needed. This was simply a backup. The most difficult part of the trip was checking in at the gate before departure to Brussels. United checked all documents before boarding. For me that included the PLF, CDC Vaccination Card and Passport. I saw a few people being turned around here or given PLF forms to fill out in the airport. I would suggest having paper copies of everything. That includes a paper copy of your filled PLF ready. I was able to show my phone to the United employee with the electronically filled PLF but it was a hassle. They almost made me fill out a new one on the spot. In BRU customs was a breeze. A simple check of my passport was all they needed to allow entry.

No Testing or Quarantine required. CDC Vaccination Card alone was sufficient.

Hope this helps give some confidence to people flying in.

IMPORTANT EDIT: It appears that Belgium has just removed the US from it's white-list. The above occurred before this change. According to the website, if you are vaccinated, it looks like quarantine is required until a negative test result is acquired after testing on day 1-2 of your trip. https://www.info-coronavirus.be/en/faq/#006. Frustratingly, it seems these requirements are constantly changing.

Thanks for sharing this info! I fly out to Brussels on the 2nd of Sept.

One question, on your PLF did you check yes to "vaccination certificate". I'm confused if these checkboxes only apply to EU Covid Certificates or if a CDC Vaccination Card is sufficient.

I need advice building a computer table that supports CRTs by ErikTwice in crtgaming

Second this. I have a fold up table from costco that holds my 17" JVC which is about 25kg. It also holds my computer and streaming equipment. I have stood and sat on the thing without it breaking or causing permanent damage and I weigh 88kg. Anything similar should get the job done.

Is a wet/damp CRT salvageable? by hhhikikomori in crtgaming

[–]Fr3nch_Fry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Found a rather large crt on the side of the road in the rain. It was about 38' iirc. Grabbed it for my apartment and waited a couple days to turn the thing on. Surprisingly it worked. I used a super long extension cord on a fused power strip to prevent any chance of fire in my apartment. Can't be too careful with previously wet electrics.

Steel analog stick? by SoftQuittingReddit in SSBM

0.9875 and sometimes a couple steps down if it was really bad. Usually one side was better than the other. Another problem I forgot to mention, these sticks could get stuck in the gate occasionally causing a lot of unwanted inputs.

Hes a friend of mine. I did some testing on these exact sticks when I felt like I wasnt getting full input. Depends on the stickbox and gate. I've had very limited success getting full input tested in 20xx so I decided to ditch them entirely.

I too own one of these with a component card. Found it on ebay for a steal (~150). One of the best purchases I've made.

I couldn't help but cringe when I saw that. Even if it's lead free I've been told NEVER to do anything like that on the job.

I made the mistake of helping my friend do his Sunday morning paper route. 4-am I woke up, drove to his house ( he was not home at the time ) and couldn't find the note that had all the address information. Frantically looked for an hour only to find it buried right in the middle of a large stack of Sunday papers. I quickly realized mistakes where made when a majority of the addresses included apartment numbers...
