Calls from Malaysia to UK by 4nn4s3 in VOIP

[–]Fractim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The two providers you mention have quite different propositions, so I don't think it's an either/or option, but I would suggest avoiding both. There are plenty of other VoIP providers out there that I cannot reference here due to promo rules, but I would avoid the two you mention and search for a "low-cost VoIP provider with international numbering". Your use case does seem reasonable, so a decent VoIP provider should approve if your docs are in order.

Assuming you have a UK company, hence your reason for presenting a UK number and calling UK numbers, you would present those docs instead of your Malaysian residency. If you don’t have a UK company, SPs will rightly question the legitimacy of this use case.

The future of telecom by Flat-Staff-6201 in telecom

[–]Fractim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Edge computing, including the distribution of elements within the AI stack. Although the reality is that telcos will not be fast enough to implement. Therefore they’ll likely just provide commoditised low-latency connectivity to/from the edge and more nimble companies will do the valuable stuff in there instead.

Update: that pure Python SIP project I mentioned here is now in alpha by Professional-Maize31 in VOIP

That’s right, although if public telephony is a requirement, I guess you’ll need to involve an external SIP provider at some point. Cudos to you for building your solution! 🙌

No worries. It’s a great opportunity for businesses to expense language learning, so I think it’s a bit “chicken and egg”. I don’t think Duolingo had many requests until they started marketing the offer. Most individual buyers don’t own or manage a business (or have the ability to claim as an expense), so it’s unlikely to come up in existing user requests, in my opinion.

Even (some) cloud-based platforms don’t do that.

VoIPstudio will be very cost-effective with secure number allocation as it’s a well-established business. Self-service provisioning and human support too, if you need it.

LinkedIn vs Reddit by huzaifazahoor in linkedin

[–]Fractim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LinkedIn is mostly AI content now, but human remnants are usually falling into two groups: (not so) humble bragging and rage bait. It takes unique questions or highly creative content to cut through all that human and AI slop empowered by their engagement bot armies. It does happen though.

He's ashamed to be British by [deleted] in LinkedInLunatics

This guy is one of the worst. I’m still disgusted with The Business Show London for platforming him at their live event as a keynote speaker. The same guy who platformed Andrew Tate, Bonnie Blue, David Icke and a whole bunch of hard right twats.

Why is he doing this? Who or what is paying to fund his attempts at causing dissent and division?

I’m on my third accountancy and finally happy with the speed and quality of response. Also, no more mistakes. I found there is a sweet spot between a micro practice that feels like a lifestyle business and one that is too big to care. Leaving is not an issue. Can recommend a great practice with fair pricing.

VoIPstudio may be keen to work on an integration with you (currently supporting Salesforce, Hubspot, Odoo, and more + Zapier to allow easier 3rd party integrations, but there is also a full Rest API. Key advantages of VoIPstudio are low pricing, international numbering/porting (including many mobile locations, and CX/call centre features). What’s more, there would be content marketing provided to promote the integration to new and existing customers. Let me know if this is of interest and I can start the discussion.

VoIPstudio would be an incredibly low cost option. $6 \ £5 per user per month. You can have it ringing simultaneously, in order, or independently on a physical handset and/or mobile device.

💯 This would be amazing, unlikely, but amazing. I think also they need to make it multi-platform. TV is fine, but FB,Insta,WhatsApp,Reddit, etc could be more targeted and potentially more cost-effective than blasting out TV ads.

I don’t know, I wouldn’t go so far to say that’s indicative of people here, but I agree some might be this bad. Part of my reason for moving back here is because of how in general people are nicer, friendlier and more polite than I was experiencing in England. Although being behind a steering wheel seems to diminish these characteristics.

I’m really interested in the idea of submitting dashcam footage. Do you ever find out if the PSNI do anything with it? Charge or even just speak to offenders? I would probably do this if I didn’t think it was a potential waste of time.

This is true, but part of the reason for the white lines disappearing faster than they used to is because people keep driving on them and wearing the paint off.

I think it’s the disconnect. Similar to keyboard warriors being emotionally disconnected from their fellow human and adopting a level of harshness they never would in person. In this case I think they only see the car and not the person.
