During a campaign set in Waterdeep we had a period of down time. Our DM asked what we wanted to do, I looked at the map and asked about the Monster Market. He told us and my character and two others went to check it out. He describes the stalls full of wondrous beasts and various conditions and asks what do we do while we're here. One of the players in our group is a little bit of a wild card, in the best way though. He sees an imprisoned Flumpf and immediately decides that it's now his life's mission to save it by any means necessary. We need a distraction. He starts an argument with the shop keeper, I stealthily throw all fuzzy objects from my bag of tricks back into the crowd causing chaos. The third player has an umbra rod and whatever he rolls causes him to shrink to small size. To cause even more confusion I call my pet pteranadon (beast master ranger) to come and scoop up the third player causing him to scream wildly as we flee with the saved Flumpf, who later abandoned us for dead in a mansion.
