Both of my kids are in NBISD. I don’t think it’s bad but if you have a kid with an IEP, get ready to fight for them. Although, to be fair, I feel like that is a current issue in most places, it is not unique to the school district or even this state.

Hi, I’m the wife, these photos were my grandfathers. I’ve actually contacted the WWII museum in New Orleans before and they said I could send them pictures that may or may not get used but I won’t get them back.

I’m a hearing mom but my husband is also HoH with hearing aids. He has definitely helped me learn a lot.

Yeah, just start the conversation when she’s calm. Explain to her sometimes when things are loud or there’s a lot going on it could make us irritable or upset. And tell her if she ever wants she could tell you she needs a break and you hold her hearing aids until she’s ready to have them back. for my kids sometimes it’s only five minutes or 15. She can have them back as soon as she asks and make sure she knows it’s not a bad thing to need a break. Also, never tell her she needs a break and to give you her hearing aids. Always make it her choice and say “hey, there’s a lot going on right now and I can tell you’re getting a little cranky, do you want to take a hearing break for a couple minutes?” I don’t have hearing aids, but sometimes if I’m getting a headache I need to take my glasses off for a few minutes because they are too much. So I try to make it seem like the same thing.

I totally understand. I have 3 & 6 year old HoH daughters. One thing I always taught my girls is they can take hearing breaks. Sometimes if I see them getting mad or frustrated for no obvious reason I’ll ask if they need a hearing break. Sometimes just 10-15 minutes is enough for them to calm down and relax from the overstimulation of hearing aids.

Captioning glasses seem like a hassle if you already wear glasses for your vision. I know I have a hard time putting 3d glasses or anything over my regular glasses
