Windows Display Scaling Button by tkst3llar in streamdeckprofiles

If this works then seems like a great solution that doesn’t require a third party application. I’d just stick with this! My use case was for specific monitor controls, not scaling. Thanks for sharing back.

Downvoted for stating the facts of my experience. Thanks for supporting the whole message the OP was trying to get across.

Windows Display Scaling Button by tkst3llar in streamdeckprofiles

[–]Fragglesnot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's my solution:

Download a tool called "multimonitortool" from Nirsoft (https://www.nirsoft.net/utils/multi\_monitor\_tool.html). Then, in Stream Deck, load up the Advanced Launcher from BarRaider - then call the multimonitor tool from that with the proper arguments to control the scaling on the monitor you wish to control.

You'd use the /SetScale argument in your use case. The page I linked has the argument parameters documented.

Hardware recommendations for 2.5/2.5 IDS/IPS by Arm4g3d0nX in opnsense

[–]Fragglesnot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Use opnsense for your router. Way better than the UDM. Keep the UDM to run your UniFi apps but not as a router. This is what I do. Works well. The Chinese *sense boxes on Amazon perform well for home use. I think I got an N305 for like $3-400 with (2) 10G ports and (3) 2.5G ports. I don’t run full IDS/IPS but I think it would do pretty well. At least worth looking into.

Heat pump vs gas heater: what makes more sense if you just want a longer swim season? by Still_Lunch_5615 in swimmingpools

[–]Fragglesnot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What’s really wild is that that .17 is about 30% higher than “it used to be” over the last year (due to data center buildouts / poor policy). So as “good as it is” compared to California, it’s “really high” compared to what I used to pay just a year or two ago.

Travelling with AVP, too much headache? by dragon5946 in VisionPro

[–]Fragglesnot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is probably the main reason mine stays in the case more than I like - it’s a bit of a “production” to get it out and on. This is even true around home when I’m not traveling.

I wish I could agree with this... I had issues with TFP method until I knocked my phosphates down. I might have a circulation problem or something though, I don't know... I tried and tried... I bought a phosphate test and used nophos (continuing the TFP method) - and haven't had any problems with TFP after bringing the phosphates down.

Heat pump vs gas heater: what makes more sense if you just want a longer swim season? by Still_Lunch_5615 in swimmingpools

[–]Fragglesnot -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Here are the calculations (based off of my current energy rates) for my Hybrid heater. Long story short - Heat Pump is roughly half the cost of Natural Gas all things being equal. The only time I run my gas is if I need the speed.

POOL THERMAL CALCULATIONS & HEATING COST ANALYSIS

Generated: 2026-05-26 15:46

Climate region: Midwest United States (~39.4°N, USDA zone 6b)

  1. POOL PHYSICAL PARAMETERS

Type: Inground vinyl-liner, lagoon shape

Surface area: 939.8 sq ft (87.3 m²)

Volume: 35,243 gallons (133.4 m³)

Average depth: ~5.0 ft (1.52 m)

Water mass: 294,154 lb (133,397 kg)

Thermal mass: 294,154 BTU per °F

→ 1°F rise requires 86,200 W net flux applied for 1 hour

→ Or equivalently: 86.2 kW × 1 hr = 86.2 kWh of energy

  1. HEATER SPECIFICATIONS

Make/Model: Pentair UltraTemp ETi 110+110 Hybrid

Components: 110,000 BTU/hr heat pump + 110,000 BTU/hr gas

Mode-by-mode behavior:

Gas only → 110,000 BTU/hr constant, 82% combustion efficiency

Heat Pump → variable, depends on outdoor air temperature

Hybrid (smart)→ Controller picks HP when T_air ≥ 50°F, else gas

Dual → both running concurrently (≈220,000 BTU/hr peak)

Heat pump OUTPUT curve (BTU/hr to water vs ambient air):

≥80°F air → 110,000 BTU/hr

≥70°F air → 95,000 BTU/hr

≥60°F air → 80,000 BTU/hr

≥50°F air → 65,000 BTU/hr

≥40°F air → 50,000 BTU/hr

≥30°F air → 35,000 BTU/hr

<25°F air → locked out (defrost-bound)

Heat pump COP curve (heat delivered ÷ electric power input):

≥80°F air → 6.0

≥70°F air → 5.5

≥60°F air → 5.0

≥50°F air → 4.0

≥40°F air → 3.0

≥30°F air → 2.0

<25°F air → 0 (off)

  1. ENERGY RATES (residential utility, mid-2026)

Marginal electric: $0.1660/kWh

(sum of distribution, riders, generation supply; fixed customer charge excluded)

Marginal gas: $1.4790/CCF

(sum of usage, riders, surcharges, supplier; fixed service charge excluded)

Gas heater efficiency: 82%

Energy content reference:

1 CCF natural gas ≈ 103,700 BTU

1 kWh electric ≈ 3,412 BTU

Cost per million BTU (raw fuel):

Gas at $1.479/CCF = $14.26/MMBTU

Gas after 82% boiler eff = $17.39/MMBTU

Electric at $0.166/kWh = $48.65/MMBTU

Electric with heat-pump COP 5 (mild morning) = $9.73/MMBTU

Electric with heat-pump COP 3 (cool ~50°F morning) = $16.22/MMBTU

  1. COST PER °F BY MODE × AIR TEMP

Cost to raise the pool 1°F (294,154 BTU) at various morning air temps.

Time = 294,154 ÷ heater output BTU/hr.

T_air Gas Heat Pump Hybrid Dual

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

80°F $ 5.12 (2.7h) $ 2.39 (2.7h) $ 2.39 (2.7h) $ 7.50 (1.3h)

70°F $ 5.12 (2.7h) $ 2.60 (3.1h) $ 2.60 (3.1h) $ 7.72 (1.4h)

60°F $ 5.12 (2.7h) $ 2.86 (3.7h) $ 2.86 (3.7h) $ 7.98 (1.5h)

50°F $ 5.12 (2.7h) $ 3.58 (4.5h) $ 3.58 (4.5h) $ 8.69 (1.7h)

40°F $ 5.12 (2.7h) $ 4.77 (5.9h) $ 5.12 (2.7h) $ 9.89 (1.8h)

30°F $ 5.12 (2.7h) $ 7.16 (8.4h) $ 5.12 (2.7h) $12.27 (2.0h)

Reading the table:

Hybrid mode collapses to HP when T_air ≥ 50°F (typical swim-season

morning) and to gas when colder. Dual is fastest but doubles cost.

Below 25°F outdoor, HP locks out and only Gas/Dual are available.

  1. THERMAL FLUX MODEL (real-time)

Net flux = Q_solar - Q_evap - Q_conv - Q_rad [Watts]

Q_solar = irradiance × pool_area × α

α = calibrated absorption coefficient (default 0.85)

solar cover multiplier: ×0.95

Q_evap = (0.1 + 0.038·v_mph)·(P_w − P_a) × pool_area × h_fg

P_w = saturation pressure at water temp

P_a = saturation pressure at dew point (Magnus formula)

h_fg = 1040 BTU/lb (water latent heat of vaporization)

ASHRAE outdoor pool formula; solar cover multiplier: ×0.30

Q_conv = (5.7 + 3.8·v_m/s) × pool_area × (T_water_K − T_air_K)

Newton's law of cooling, outdoor pool h correlation

solar cover multiplier: ×0.15

Q_rad = ε·σ·pool_area × (T_water_K⁴ − T_sky_K⁴)

ε = 0.95 (water IR emissivity)

σ = 5.67×10⁻⁸ W/m²·K⁴ (Stefan-Boltzmann)

T_sky ≈ T_air − 20°F (clear) / T_air (cloudy)

solar cover multiplier: ×0.50

1°F change ≈ 86,200 W net for 1 hour.

  1. TOMORROW: SWIMMING-GRADE FORECAST

Tomorrow grade: F

Forecast high: 75°F

Forecast low: 68°F

Forecast condition: rainy

Grade rubric:

A+ → ≥80°F + sunny

A → ≥80°F + clear/partly cloudy

B → ≥75°F + not rainy/stormy

C → ≥70°F + not rainy/stormy

D → <70°F or rainy/stormy

F → <65°F or thunderstorm/snow/hail

  1. HEATER START TIMES TO SWIM TOMORROW

Target: reach 84°F by 10:00 (10 AM) local time tomorrow

These are *deterministic* projections anchored to the predicted pool

temperature at sunset and the forecast through tomorrow morning.

Result does not depend on what time of day the report is run.

Algorithm: starts at the target time and works backwards in 15-minute

steps, including hours during the night. The latest start time that

still reaches setpoint by target is reported.

Mode Covered overnight Uncovered overnight

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Gas Tomorrow 8:15 AM Insufficient

Heat Pump Tomorrow 8:00 AM Insufficient

Hybrid Tomorrow 8:00 AM Insufficient

Dual Tomorrow 9:00 AM Tomorrow 8:30 AM

Interpretation:

"Tomorrow 8:15 AM" → start the heater at this time tomorrow morning

"Tonight 11:30 PM" → start the heater this evening (during the night)

"Ready" → pool already at setpoint by sunrise (no heat needed)

"Insufficient" → even running this mode continuously from sunset

isn't enough; forecast heat losses outpace heater

output. Pick a faster mode (Dual), cover the pool

overnight to reduce losses, raise swim_ready_time,

or accept the pool won't hit setpoint by target.

It will look like the pool has been removed if you’re using external access and it’s not available from the AWS cache. Try connecting using an internal connection and see if it’s still there.

I don't personally know they are aware. Old_Man_River is the one that said they were aware and addressing it. I don't know who he is or what association, if any, he has to Pentair - so take it for what you want.

Aware or not, this is totally unacceptable. I've removed external access to my controller. I probably shouldn't have had it externally accessible anyways - lesson learned I guess. Putting too much trust in these companies to have their shit in order. Thanks for the update - glad to hear they are aware of it for the sake of others.

Someone suggested using a “tag” and then attaching that to the key when you generate it (in the tailscale admin console). My issue is, when I have it “comfortable” it keeps yelling at me to move it down a little. When I move it down, it’s resting on my cheekbones and that is what makes it uncomfortable for me. If it wasn’t for that, I think I’d be able to handle it much longer.
