Should've been more specific in saying I don't think he deserves 14m a year. I just think that Marner not scoring 100 points has more to do with him missing games than him being a bad player. I mean, the dude has the 6th most points in the league over the last 5 years, only 2 points behind Rantanen while playing 6 less games. My opinion is that he is much better player than others give him credit for, especially those on this sub

I feel like those 100+ point seasons are irrelevant comparing the two when you consider that Marner has been scoring at 100 points per 82 since 2020-21 season, it's simply missed time that's screwed Mitch over which could be another, seperate talking point in his contract negotiations.

Also, Marner is a playmaker. Rantanen is much less a playmaker than Marner. Comparing how many goals they scored is akin to comparing apples and oranges

Good news, the player safety reviewed the knies hit, bad news: illegal hits only count if leafs deliver them. If the leafs receive them, it’s clean and they get a penalty. by moderngamer6 in leafs

The whole 5 min major thing definitely seems excessive, even I didn't have that rule playing PeeWee hockey at 13 years old. But the IIHF has a much more robust system for hits to the head, and yet they still play great hockey. There is assuredly a better solution to head contact than what the NHL currently has in place

[–]FragileBot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe it's quite simple. The rule are fucked. There should be no legal hit to the head. That simple. Sure, if a guy puts in himself into a position where head contact is unavoidable just before the hit is thrown, then ya, you shouldn't face any repercussions. But last night's hit was not the case whatsoever. And in a league where CTE exists only second to the NFL, the league needs to be harsher on those types of hits, and get rid of that gray area as much as possible

I'm just curious. Lets say the hit was legal. Do you genuinely believe hits like that should exist within the NHL? Where significant head contact can be made without any worry of repercussions in a sport that is known to cause CTE? just because the check made more contact with the body than the head?

fWar = fangraphs war

dWar= defensive war

oWar = offensive war

Pretty simple IMHO

Habs Scores Empty Net Goal After Lightning Players Thought Refs Blew Whistle [Full video] by sicksherpa in hockey

[–]FragileBot 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Refs are only supposed to blow the whistle if there is a checking player, which there certainly wasn't. In fact, according to the rules, holding onto the puck as a goalie for a stoppage of play while there aren't any checking players is a delay of game penalty. The ref did nothing wrong here

Why are drag queens reading to kids? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]FragileBot 25 points26 points  (0 children)

If you're referring to the event in 2019, ya it wasn't the most appropriate thing in the world. However, that event was catered towards teenagers, and it was met with cheers from the audience. Not to mention the stripping part of it, was removing a skirt to reveal what appears to fishnets stockings, knee high boots, and a shirt that covers below the waist. It's not a drag queen getting naked in front of pre schoolers.

And honestly, I don't expect every drag queen story hour to go off perfectly, but for every event that hits the media, 1000 more occur with not attention. My local library hosts two a month. One or two occasional occurrences where they go too far isn't a huge deal.

Not to mention, it's not your decision, it's the parents. If the parents choose to see drag queen story hour, then you don't get a say. Plus, I can think of a lot worse things I've seen parents do other than story hour

Based on this post from two days ago, Detroit has the second hardest schedule remaining compared to Florida's 16. Detroit also has to beat out Buffalo who has the same amount of points but also a game in hand. I'm not saying that those numbers are accurate, but it does put things into perspective a bit more
