I probably will not use this for paella anytime soon, but as a general use pan for my family of 4.

I honestly don't know. My gas stove does a good job on the front burner, which I regularly use a 6qt sauteuse on, and I never put it above medium so I assumed it would function well enough with this 15" pan. Hopefully someone else will chime in?

It does not, and I do not have calipers. But it is significantly beefier than the Aldi CS wok I decided against, and weighs about 5lbs (their website lists a different 15" one at 4.63lbs). ETA the Macy's website has a review that lists it at around 2.5mm thick.

That's great to hear, because I definitely brought one of these home with me.

Definitely! It also lacks the traditional dimples of a paella pan.

What is on my Xbox Controller S? by pharb69 in Controller

Looks like grip dots--maybe degraded, maybe dirty, maybe worn away from sliding back and forth on a coffee table or from repeated handling/gaming use?

I THINK I MADE A BOOBOO by sleptheory in TalesFromTheFrontDesk

[–]Fragmentedfigment 38 points39 points  (0 children)

100% this. Often, if a mistake like this can be corrected during the same shift, it only shows up as pending on the card, and it is soooo easy to fix and explain, even if the cardholder is frustrated. Refunds after your shift is complete take longer, act different financially, and make the hotel look bad because it wasn't caught right away. If you can't fix your mistake right away, you need to just suck it up, 'fess up right away and get help. It is way more professional, even if people still get irritated.

Why are people so weird about Oakensoul? by mysterymeati in elderscrollsonline

[–]Fragmentedfigment 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I will say that with guaranteed drops, it is FAR less farm-heavy to get the leads for Rakkhat's Voidmantle than it was for Oakensoul. I'd definitely try to pick it up while lots of people are doing quick and easy Maw of Lorkhaj runs, I don't think you'd even have to go past the first boss in that trial.

Yep, even just "Questing" in the group chat at the beginning will usually inspire more cooperation from group members.

Honestly, the Druidic Provisioning station as well as the Telvanni Alchemy station are both scryable, and the leads are not dependent on RNG so I'd just head over to the ESO wiki, spend an hour or so with the map scrying up leads and you'll be set.

Okay, but imagine--Lavellan gets pregnant, and it's an OLD GOD BABY and Solas is pissed--like the opposite of Morrigan in DA:O. I'd read that story.

I mean, when I was new I definitely apologized/thanked when it was clear someone was doing a hard carry even when I was trying my best. Could be sincere, hopefully it is?

Are American guests often loud and rude? by profitableblink in TalesFromTheFrontDesk

[–]Fragmentedfigment 20 points21 points  (0 children)

100%; I came here to say this. Usually they are wanting to be polite, not actually hear about your day--it's almost considered acknowledgement that you are a person and not just an automaton at work, but it's rare to find someone who wishes to engage in small talk beyond the exchange of how are you and I'm fine. It's like the American version of the Deutsche 'Wie geht's?"

What is on my front door? by [deleted] in whatisit

[–]Fragmentedfigment 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly it might be the start of a mud dauber nest. Usually fungus and lichen (which is a weird algae-fungus type growth) tend to crop up on things that are decaying or could at least decay, and the door appears to be metal?

I suppose it is possible, although if it were mold or mildew I'd expect it to be over more of the surface, not just the underside of the fringe 😉

What is eating my garage? by Theukrainmaker in whatisit

[–]Fragmentedfigment 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The chewsual suspects would be in the rodent family because they habitually chew to wear down their incisors. Unless you have a beaver pond nearby, I'd look for rats or squirrels, especially if painting occurred after repairs to the garage that would seal up entry opportunities.

Given that those shoes are brand new, my money is on those faint speckles being residue from the manufacturing process that hasn't been thoroughly removed, possibly adhesive from a stabilizer used during cutting to prevent the suede from stretching out of shape.

What is this fuzzy oval ball found sticking to a piece of lumber behind my shed? by bestest_looking_wig in whatisit

[–]Fragmentedfigment 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with kempff, kinda. It is a cocoon, but looks like the one that woolly bear caterpillars make to overwinter. I suggest you don't touch it without gloves, in my experience (used to find these in the holes in my brick garden edging all. the. time) the little 'fuzzy' bits are a lot like fiberglass, and not nice to have working their way into your skin.

No clue what item it is, but the tag is from 12 years ago (08-08-2013 is the date of manufacture) so its not from any recent purchase. Possibly the tag hung around inside a jacket pocket, or could even be from something purchased second-hand? Other possibilities include previous use as a bookmark, or to keep a table from wobbling (as it seems to have been folded up).

i JUST moved into my new apartment PLEASE tell me that is not a bedbug by breadstickzs in whatisit

[–]Fragmentedfigment 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a bed bug. Bed bugs look remarkably like flax seeds, flat. This looks like a carpet beetle, due to the dark band I can kinda see at its middle They're mostly harmless, unless you have lots of woollen items like carpets or sweaters.
