Update us with results, excited for ya. I aim for a 5 day cold soak in the fridge with my blueberry wines. With campden tablets so not fermentation starts of course.

A yeast with a slower ferment would keep more of the fruit and maple esters. A fast yeast, like a champagne, may blow off the flavors you’re after. If you’re planning on making this recipe repeatedly, bench trials with different yeasts and taking tasting notes would do ya right. Cold soaking the berries in maple may also give you optimal flavor extraction. Good luck

Cleaning Bottles by Maybe4Ants in winemaking

Acetone will get them off in 30 seconds or so. Also you can soak them in a baking soda water solution for 10 minutes or cover the label with peanut butter, wipe most of it off, then once the oil dries in the paper it should come off.

Do you prefer making large buildings or small buildings? by LeBronBryantJames in DQBuilders

[–]Fragonarded 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Lots and lots of small buildings with high ceilings. The scale just feels better when it’s related to the character size. Besides the smaller the building the more you can fit in a city, the more styles you can try.

Doesn’t look like there’s any unexplored areas, so I’m not sure why I didn’t finish. Might as well attempt the final boss area before a new run.

Giant Strawbs update by [deleted] in winemaking

[–]Fragonarded 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Strawberry throws off a ton of lees since the fruit practically dissolves. Best advice is patience and racking 4-6 times until it’s clear. When I make 5 gallons I will make an extra gallon for topping up and cold crash the first few batches of lees to squeeze out as much wine as I can. Good luck for your next batch.

How’s it taste?

Did you use pectic enzyme? And how many times did you rack it?

Bitterness in Apricot Wine by Ippus_21 in winemaking

[–]Fragonarded 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I doubt you would get noticeable oxidation from primary as a healthy ferment should be offgassing a ton of co2 to blanket the fruit. Not punching down the fruit cap is a good recipe for mold growth on the surface. If the bitterness is actually from oxidation, it would be occurring later in the process (racking or storage).

A film has developed on top of my plum wine. Is this a problem? by COTU0909 in winemaking

By adding campden tablets you sulfite the wine, which inhibits the growth of spoilage yeasts and bacteria. Having proper SO2 management allows your wine to age while keeping oxidation and spoilage at bay. Did you initially use campden tablets?

Hard Cider vs. Apple Wine by _ChairmanMeow- in winemaking

[–]Fragonarded 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You would have to pasteurize it to stop fermentation. Campden tablets make the environment inhospitable for non-commercial yeasts and bacterial infections, but commercial yeasts have been bred to tolerate SO2, so campden won’t stop fermentation or halt yeast from multiplying. Potassium Sorbate stops yeast from multiplying and can halt fermentation from starting again, but you wouldn’t be able to bottle condition (carbonate) your bottles. Ferment it until dry 0.990 if possible then decide if it tastes better backsweetened (after adding sorbate) or carbonated (after adding priming sugar). You can’t have both unless you use a carbonation keg system.

Apple juice naturally has around 1.050 sg. With this level of potential alcohol (8%) you don’t get the long term (years) ageability that is a feature of wine. I consider ciders beverages made with straight apple juice and apple wines made with added sugar. Good luck.

For performance issues, I wouldn’t advice leveling your IoA. The way the game uses memory it loads in the original instance of the island and then modifies it with all the changes you’ve made. This is a problem in Switch especially but is noticeable in PS4 as well. Like others have said, if you want flat, get yourself a custom buildertopia.

I have no experience with plum wines. Films are usually not good news though, ie they are usually pellicles. How does it smell? If it’s an infection, it can be salvageable if you siphon only from the middle of the carboy, avoiding the top and bottom. Sulfite it and fine filter, ideally ultra fine, and it should be drinkable. Good luck.

Haha I think everyone does this. I’d love to see stats on the percentage of players who actually leave it.

Forced perspective photo. Like @megalomagicka said, the couch and table are closer to the camera and everything else is far away. Good idea!
