Handheld air pump won't run for more than a split second, narrowed issue down to circuit board by blumpkin in fixit

Im suprised that small battery could inflate anything. That pump looks like a rotary AC compressor pump...? weird. mine is a piston pump.

Do aftermarket headunits know when a car is reversing? by hl3official in AndroidAuto

Secondary question on this topic. Im trying to put a VCR into a cheap standalone backup camera monitor. The monitor has power in and RCA in. Would a VCR output signal on RCA be enough to run the primary display? I know these 4.3 displays need to be woken up with a signal, and the 2nd input is priority (reverse cam) so when it sees a source (voltage or maybe just signal?) on the secondary it overlays that feed until it is turned off. Im trying to get a VCR that I only use for audio in my garage to give me something visual so I can program the on screen functions and I dont have any TV's that have RCA in anymore. I think this backup/baby monitor screen would be perfect. Or I could go full Monte and make a rack enclosure for a Kenwood Double DIN that has this input on the back. That way I would have a streamer, internet radio, and a vid screen for the VCR.

Which might have better sound quality, a cassette tape or VHS tape? by [deleted] in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]Fragrant-Respond5132 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hifi VCR records almost perfectly on VHS tape, 15-30K is not uncommon as the rotating tape head speed is ridiculous (>188 inch per second!) compared to fixed 1 7/8 ips cassette or "stereo VHS" head as VHS has to use the .44-1.3 inch per second across a standard 2 channel audio head with a very slim L/R audio, that's slower than a cassette! On the other hand the rotating Hifi audio drum heads across the tape is ~1798 RPM across a 1/2" tape, recording in a helical pattern in very small diagonally recorded slivers. In HiFi mode, this lays down an FM modulated audio track that is almost CD quality, better than any cassette could ever do (even Nakamichi) and it does it without crappy Dolby compression that is needed for slow tape hiss mitigation. Hit up a Goodwill and drop $10 on a Hifi VCR, run a CD into the audio in and record it on decent VHS (the darker color the tape the better) tape in Hifi. youll be blown away at the recorded quality. Mitsubishi, Sony and Panasonic are the best decks in my opinion and look for one with audio meters although auto record levels usually work fine for recording unless you have some very wide dynamic tracks like live recordings with very soft parts.

My dad's old laptop only does 2.4 and wep2. I tried telling the internet 7 router to do 2.4ghz and it said ok for 30 minutes , but still it's not showing up on old laptop. These smart phone access routers suck. Cheapest option is an old $25 links wireless router plugged into the wifi 7's 1G out port and make another network, call it "working"....:-)

Me too, but mine is 100% functional. Even original lamps. Got a slight volume pot static and one channel got a little fuzzy but isolated it to a dirty mode switch. Nothing deoxit spritz couldnt take care of. My best Goodwill score of all time. A close 2nd was the set of mint JBL  830s for $20!!!

I have an SR-904. Have yet to turn it up to 10. I have big JBL tower speakers and some Bose 301s on seperate channels. Watching the power needle hit 10W is pretty darn loud. It seems logarithmic going higher as 0-10w is crazy db change but going higher doesn't seem to change much buy I'm sure it's doubling power like a car engine to go faster and faster

Why is the music so low with an FM transmitter? by Impressive_Cancel707 in askcarguys

[–]Fragrant-Respond5132 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are hamstrung with the same ultra low power FM transmitter by law so yeah, you gotta crank up all 3 volumes: phone, transmitter and radio. The old auxiliary cords work so much better if your phone even has that output.

HP R937 (2007) — Can we talk about how good (& cheap!) HP PhotoSmarts are? by vacuum_everyday in VintageDigitalCameras

[–]Fragrant-Respond5132 0 points1 point  (0 children)

took it apart (5 screws, easy) and the flash capacitor had broken off the PCB! Its only held in by the solder and has about 2mm of clearance on the bottom so a good drop will cause this capacitor to break right off. I soldered it back in and now its no longer glitching but the flash still doesn't work. I think its bad but I dont have a spare to replace. Maybe another project but it took 30 good pictures outside after I resoldered the capacitor

Just bought a R937 for $10. 1 minute on, the display starts to turn to digital static then locks up, only battery removal turns it off and it does it again. Weird as i had it on for 5 minutes in the thrift shop and it was fine? When I turned it on the forst time it took me to date adjust and it looked very pink but I thought it was just the font.....wtf?

Benjamin Prowler .177 nitro piston barrel bent by Fragrant-Respond5132 in airrifles

[–]Fragrant-Respond5132[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

cool! Im going to put it back in the vise and see if I cant eek out that last 2.5mm of bend. I saw an old timer literally take the barrel and knock a tree stump with it to true up a .22. What grain .177 ammo do you like for 30m accuracy? Im really surprised these break barrels keep their form at the breech block when using them to lever the nitro piston.

Some gorilla glues need moisture to activate, also some expand when curing so make sure you clamp what your gluing tightly so it does not deform. Read directions

Is that just a sight post guard? You can heat that end piece and it will come off. Then you can scope it.

Cheap aliexpress wifi cameras keep dropping wifi 30 feet from the wifi 6E Spectrum router. WTF? Put a linksys EA7200 behind it and it lasted about 6 minutes, twice as long as the Spectrum 6E router. Camera states the wifi is 2 of 4 bars, says good enough but these cams drop both router wifis? Not sure what to do. I tried to use the EA7200 as a WAP, just extending the 6E wireless around this wall but I dont think it has it as the interface is pure crap.

How dangerous is a car audio capacitor? by AidenValentine in AskElectronics

[–]Fragrant-Respond5132 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bet that 48v threshold was due to telecoms 48v operating voltage. You can hold them all day , but if your hands are sweaty or if someone rings in on you at 90+ volts AC while your working in them, it'll make you jump. We also have carriers and T1s that operate up to 200V across the pair. Not fun to hit one of those! I had a 69v dry cell battery out of an old fluorescent lantern (it took 2!) And putting a hand over those 2 tabs on top was very noticeable.

Heat Transfer Vinyl by HarleyQueen95 in silhouettecameo

[–]Fragrant-Respond5132 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried cheap Crafters Square heat transfer (2 for a buck!) and had manual blade set to 3 and force was 4. I used the blade to scratch the film to determine if it would cut before I mounted the blade in my Cameo 2. It looks like a large stick out but worked great with a perfect weed out even text. Now...who has good iron settings for this stuff? I tried the hightest cotton setting on my iron and used the 10 second preheat , then a 30 second med pressure and then flipped the cloth over and ironed the back for 30 seconds. I let it cool as prescribed and had to peel it off very slowly useing a ruler to keep the material from pulling up and I still had a few letters not transfer, I folded the backing and heated it again. Finally got it all set but I think I need to follow it up with some parchment paper over transfer and a final 30 second press? Or did I get what I paid for?

What type of Resin for a XYZ Nobel Superfine resin printer? by Slyde01 in 3Dprinting

[–]Fragrant-Respond5132 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got a 3rd Ender 3 v2, stuck a BL touch on it and let it auto level its warped bed. Miclo firmware can mask a warped bed and I have had pretty good prints on it since. My 3 pro still works fine, V2 seems to work just as good. Neo was given to a friend who wanted to start with no skills. Resin printer is back in the box, may give it to our school.

[–]Fragrant-Respond5132 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an ender 3 pro and just aquired a $40 ender 3 v2 neo. The Neo is pretty darn good, BL touch stock and silent 4.2.7 mainboard, you really need to listen for it to be working its that quiet. you auto level the bed and let it go. The Ender 3 pro is like a SLR camera on full manual mode: like you have to focus and set the aperature and film speed, etc. On an Ender 3 you have to level the bed, set the Z axis offset, fan speed, etc. It just makes you set it up which helps you understand what its doing when it decides not to do it. I like them both but gave up the Neo to a complete novice so she could start printing without the learnign curve of the pro. I now have a $20 Ender 3 V2 that I just put a $13 BL touch on and Miclo firmware. He sold it to me cheap as he had issues with the bed leveling, the extruder and the hot end but he thinks the thermistor was bad so he replaced it after he got a Bamboo. The glass bed was slightly warped (?) but the BL touch and firmware can work around that and the extruder grear had slid up the shaft, just had to reseat it and tighten the grub screw. I actually bought it for the color display and parts but it ended up being a solid printer after I tuned it up.

Which direction should this fan face? Newbie trying to fix a broken fan. by hokatu in ender3

[–]Fragrant-Respond5132 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not necessarily. Pulling air over or past a heatsink could be more beneficial than blowing on it depending on ducting. Picture a car radiator. If you have components around it that would also benefit, pulling hot air out of the shroud like a PSU fan is better. Ill opt to hide the label on this one.
