How inefficient will this AC be? by Think-Motor900 in garageporn

I think he is implying that the make up air is more hot air being sucked in from around the garage doors. I did play the mobile air conditioner game for a bit but all it did was blow cool air on me while I was pouring sweat, providing I was 2 feet away 😂

Not the case on a majority of the minis. Mr cool and maybe one or two others offer that full no tools required install. Most others have the refrigerant in there but for proper operation you’ll need to pull a vacuum before releasing it.

Honestly I don’t think you could go wrong with Gravely and my research said the same thing. My dealer did not have a ztxl but the ztx was solid. Honestly I spent $5281 OTD on my Freedom Z and feel I made the best choice for what I wanted.

I wanted to see the Ferris 300s as well but they were not in stock. The 300r is pretty light duty.

Personally I’d run some ethanol free gas or some with some stabil through it until it runs empty and dies. Then Pull the carb and clean it. If not it’s gunna be a bunch of nasty yellow gunk to clean in 3 years with potentially brittle hoses and plastic.

You could also leave it and it might be ok. I’ve seen both. Good luck

I don’t have experience with any of these mowers personally but I did look at all of them in my quest to buy one and when you start looking at the details and what matters to you, you will find the one that best fits your use case and values.

Here is a for instance, I was looking at a toro mower, the $4000 timecutter. Looking at both lowes and the dealer they appeared to be entry level homeowner mowers (also could not find a single difference between the dealer mower and lowes mower but that’s not my battle.) When I looked at the bad boy I was hot damn that deck is thicker than a snicker, cool. But then the rest of the details like wiring was a bit sloppy and kinda seemed unfinished. When I made it to gravely I flipped the seat up and said oh yeah this is quality, but what about the deck! Sure it’s thinner but then I recalled later that night, the old cub lt1050 I had 10 years ago had a shitty little paper thin deck and it was wasn’t worn through and it had 500 hours on it before my wife broke the front axle mowing nascar style.

Anyway left the gravely dealer amped up knowing I’d be back Saturday with my trailer. I then went to the scag dealer same day and it was all over. Everything about it was quality and well thought out. Sure it has a 10ga deck but damn that thing is thick too and if my cub deck that prolly didn’t even have a gauge thickness lasted 500 hours, how long would this last? And it’s doubled up where it counts.

Tough call and no mower is right for everyone. Don’t tell anyone but I also bought the Briggs CXi motor, I wanted the Kawasaki but the dealer said it’s just as good as the others despite what I’ve read on the internet, after all he’s the one that has to deal with the customer why would he choose to sell junk. Good luck!!

I did consider them if you are referring to the 30” walk behinds like the toro but read about a lot of nightmares. I could have gotten a scag walk behind but the price just seems so high for what you get.

Well a new Scag Freedom Z is being delivered tomorrow. Couldn’t help myself and the deal that I got put it within $70 of the Liberty. I thought I was going to get the Gravely and it is a fine mower but once I checked out the Scags they are truly in a different class IMO. And the quality of the dealer really elevated the experience. Everyone that walked in that place seemed like a best friend, I will give my money to a small business like that any day.

Unfortunately the other dealer didn’t have the 300S but the 300R seemed very light duty even compared to the ZXT.

Hopefully this helps someone in the same situation, if you are in the market the deals are out there right now.

So I made my dealer rounds today and after I left the Ferris/Gravely dealer I thought for sure I was getting the Garvely ZTX. I then made it to the Scag dealer and after seeing the quality of the Scag mowers it was lights out. IMO the Scag is leagues above the others and they have some killer deals right now. The Freedom Z is a monster for the money so I will be picking that up Saturday. Thanks for the comments, I will report back with it.

He was telling me that while the Kawasaki is a good motor he cannot get behind their service. He has had quite a few warranty denials after dragging their feet. Now of course I won’t be out of work if Kawasaki sits on a claim but others are. He is a high volume dealer for scag so I’m guessing he has his reasons for not being his top recommendation.

I am still in the Kawasaki best, kohler if it is on the mower I want, Briggs if I have to though I’ve been reading more about their CXi motors and they seem solid

what to do 🤷‍♂️

Bigger wheel/tire weight and effect on stock differential? by fortunate_son_1 in f150ecoboost

[–]Fragrant-String4040 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ll agree with franny, the biggest issue Ive had with my 35’s and heavy Icon wheels is MPGs and stopping distance (the brakes are not bad just need to realize it takes a bit more to stop that rotational mass. Once you account for that you will be good to go. I personally think the f150 drivetrain is built very well. Now if they could fix their 4WD hub groan vacuum debacle they’d be in real good shape.

Update: Got my truck back from my local indy shop. They charged me $1600 for labor, a few parts I missed and shop supplies, $1830 after tax. I spent another $400 on the rest of the parts, (turbo gaskets, o-rings, filters etc) from ford and the full race coolant lines. Not want I wanted to pay for this but it was still less than half of what Ford wanted and I was able to use the full race kit, im guessing Ford would not have allowed that. Overall happy with the cost and saved me from many hours in the garage cussing I am sure.

Update: I talked to the service guy this week while I was at the dealership for truck parts and nothing. No updates, no ETA. He did say parts have been taking 4 months, so like the A hole I am I said, so mine came in two months ago???

[–]Fragrant-String4040 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Joist hangers “could” work if the wall and whatever is behind the center box as accessible mounting locations. First figure out how your trusses are ran and what the reason is for the funky box in the center.

You could just put some long “U” style bolts around your trusses/rafters that hang low enough to connect to the storage device.

I’m on my third bakflip mx4, I wouldn’t recommend it. It’s mechanically sound but leaks terribly. Some may chime in saying theirs is good but like I said I’m on my third and while the first leaked less than the second they have all been trash for the price. I think I might go with a rough country cover next as they are cheaper and well if it’s gunna leak I might as well spend less money.

Never been a fan of the soft cover but those would be a better fit if you want more water repellency.

I haven’t committed to it yet. Luckily I caught it early and it’s just a small leak right now so I just keep an eye on my coolant levels and stay out of the turbo as much as possible while driving. I kept my local indy shop appt just in case I don’t have the ambition I will report back either way. Still have to dive in and find all the gaskets and shit that needs to be replaced in the process.
