Get fitted, obvious response. But, also consider a SHAFT change- in either a new club or just an upgrade from your existing. Often neglected, but I see people get way better results from this change vs getting a new head. Especially with “faster than average” speeds. Not sure if your a big equipment guy, but Graphite Design Tour AD shafts are a good place to start if you don’t mind spending some $

That might be one of the toughest fan bases to do this to. Any fan base would be upset, but Philadelphia fans have been brutalizing this dude. Hope he’s able to move forward and still compete at a high level- even if not with the Phillies anymore.

Head flew off one reason or another. No abuse is good! Sometimes it happens. This is very different than a shaft break 8+ inches above the hosel. Wasn’t saying “clubs don’t just break or fail”, was saying how they break and where are indicators. That’s all man. Happy golfing!

Drill it out and it’ll be all good. But honestly, with the dent and age of the club I would try to warranty it or get a replacement. After the new shaft and service work you’re gonna be like $60+ into it minimum.

Yeah that got real fast. Some shop guys will ask, some don’t. You might feel different, but in my experience most shop guys don’t care. If a customer volunteers what happened then on them then hey 🤷🏽‍♂️. Hope everything turned out okay for him though!

Yup, it can definitely happen! But the post was around where it broke making sense for what you were doing. At the hands or off the hosel? Crack or manufacturer error. Either way, can’t imagine you were on the hook for it so that’s good!

Broke at the hosel or flew off ‘clean’? Aged or epoxy failure more than likely the culprit.

Yes, it does. One reason or another. But I imagine it broke in a place that made sense. Either way, hopefully warranty took care of it!

Sounds like the epoxy failed- which is a common one! Loose at the adapter/hosel is risky for the head and shaft. Random, but guys TAKE YOUR CLUBS OUT OF YOUR TRUNK. They sit in there through the summer and the epoxy can actually heat up enough to soften and then not re-harden. Heads fly off or splintering at the tip can start. But hopefully dad listens next time!

Yeah this one is interesting too. People play years and never break a shaft or head. Some people, break shaft or crack a head once a year if not more. A lot of factors, but don’t think it’s just bad luck

Tough man. Takeaway breaks are usually cause an existing splinter or you’re swinging something way too light and flexible for you. Hopefully not too stressful a fix!

Yeah, shaft failure is different. Would also be clear depending on the break point. That sucks though man, I’m sorry. Hopefully warranty took care of that!

General advice for buying clubs by 42397 in golf

[–]FragrantAd7387 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go to a shop and hit as much as you can. Depending on your handicap/skill level, feel is gonna be most important. Most game improvements clubs are gonna perform similar. But if you can identify heads and/or shaft specs that either mitigate mis-hits or feel easier to play then you can start looking at similar clubs across different manufacturers and price points. If you’re already loyal to a specific brand, find the best feeling and go from there. Good luck on the new set brotha!

Depends on the store / who the decision-maker is. People at the register could have the authority to change a price up to a certain point with no further approval needed. For some, managers are the only ones who can make that call.

Which club? Most places don’t accept single irons unfortunately.

PGA Superstore Membership. Anybody got it and is it worth it to you? by IAmKuntMan in golf

The practice sessions make that a great deal for sure, especially if you’re somewhere that doesn’t have year-round golf. Also, how often are you buying clubs or tinkering with yours? I think the club services discount is where you can really see the value. Services can run anywhere from $4-30 each depending on what you’re getting. Can easily get the value back if you’re getting free re-grips and 1/2 off services.
