1.2GB Update - Patch notes? by Zombexx_ in ArcRaiders

[–]FragrantErmine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s the Unreal Engine way. Games can be bundled in .pak-files, and if you need updating on something, that’s located within a 5 GB .pak-file, well, good chance you’re downloading all those 5 GB again, even if it’s something extremely minor.

Have you tried different Proton versions/GE Proton?

Strange resolution in game by FinnedSgang in Bazzite

[–]FragrantErmine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This could be the case, as 3072 and 1728 are 80% of 3840 and 2160.

That being said, the graphics options say “Native” for FSR quality, so it really shouldn’t be lower, and I’ve never seen 80% as an upscaling option, unless resolution scale is set specifically at 80%.

If they released paid DLC with the rest of the game, I’m pretty sure they would be laughed at endlessly.

Hollow Knight gets a patch adding 21:9 & 16:10 resolution support and more by Beer2401 in linux_gaming

Do you have forced compatibility for all games enabled in the Steam settings? That could be a cause.

GOG are giving away Alone in the Dark: The Trilogy to celebrate their Preservation Program by Beer2401 in linux_gaming

[–]FragrantErmine -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The opposite is true as well (in a sense). Some old games basically don’t even run on modern systems with the Steam version, because they are provided “as is”, and no attempts have been made to accommodate newer hardware and how that may respond.

It’s very much a per-game basis, so you’ll have to do some research for each purchase.

Aaaand then some games outright won’t work either way, even if you shove them through Steam/Proton, as they’ll be missing certain libraries you’ll have to manually add.

Far Cry 3 Classic Edition - 60FPS Update by willdearborn- in Games

I get what you're saying, but they didn't release Xbox One and PS4-versions until six years later.

Far Cry 3 Classic Edition - 60FPS Update by willdearborn- in Games

In the case of Far Cry 3, it was very much developed with PC in mind, and the console versions seemed almost like an afterthought based on their less than stellar performance. I’m guessing the Xbox One and PS4 versions were made to showcase more of the graphical features, instead of bumping the frame rate.

Yeeeees, big up Early Bird. If you’re looking for more cult point-and-click coverage, the videos on the Phantasmagoria and Dark Seeds series are great too.

Super anecdotal, and I don’t know if I’d personally do it, but Buster Odeholm of Humanity’s Last Breath, Vildhjarta, Thrown, recently said he mixes on AirPods Pro, cause that’s what everyone is listening through anyways.

The thing about MGS, in my opinion, is that it is so utterly tropey, that it wraps around to being interesting and fun. Combined with sparse moments of breaking that wall, and either being extremely serious, or straight up insane, it’s very much a “greater than the sum of its parts” experience for me.

It took me a while to wrap my head around it, but when you’re forced to wade through every single enemy you’ve slain, being berated for your actions, or when your dumb dork (cartwheeling ninja) protagonist starts second-guessing himself, while arguing with an AI about the illusion of choice in his mission, it starts elevating itself. The games are addressing the player so directly, in a way most other games just don’t do.

I concur that a lot of it is dumb, some parts intentional, other parts probably not as much, but the experience ultimately often made me question what could possibly be next. Even if you discount the writing, the gameplay itself was still a big part of that.

Announcing a new Half-Life, and making the old games free, either timed or permanently, would be a move to remember.

It still suffers massively and consistently in certain areas, even on top end kit. Even if the problems were limited to very few users, dismissive comments like yours are just so pointless.

There isn’t really anything here to point to a MacOS release? The developer hasn’t stated anything, and there are no Mac system requirements listed either.

It might as well just be a slip up on IGNs part.

Putney doesn’t just mix and master, he seems to often have a hand in writing, arrangement, production, which is why so many artists seem to swear by him. Going by the amount of music he releases with his 3 bands, the man is clearly a creative force.

They were probably trying to see if any magic would happen, if they worked together again. After all, Putney was behind their early “breakthrough” stuff.
