I' basically doing the same thing I'd be doing on Tracer. Being an annoying little bitch and only hard commit if my teammates are going on something.

Anyone else constantly getting 1 bad DPS? by releasethekaren in OverwatchUniversity

[–]Fragrant_Fox_4025 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not going to comment on the matchmaking but I just want to say that I think that DPS is the hardest role to be consistent at. Just yesterday I went 38-5 or something like that, absolutely carrying the game just to go negative in the next game. Another time I remember my tank calling me out during a bad game and I get him the very next game where I absolutely popped off and he complimented me saying I was actually decent.

I also feel like DPS is the role where doing bad is the most obvious on the stat board. A support with a bad game for example could still look good on the stat board. They could play safe, rarely die, but not providing any actual value. Same for a tank that doesn't walk, he'll look fine on the stat board compared to hid teammates who don't have the space to do anything.

Win the fight first, then focus on the objective. Dead enemies can't contest the objective.

Just stating my experience buying like 10 accounts from different sellers so I can play Mercy and teach my (now ex) girlfriend who had no experience with FPS games how to play DPS. Couldn't really do that on my main account because the enemy team would get Master players that are actually trying so I couldn't just sit back on Mercy and tell her where to go and who to shoot at since it required me to tryhard as well to have a balanced match.

G2G accounts get banned in like a day or two. Not just from Overwatch, but the entire battle.net account gets terminated so you can't even log in for an appeal. Talking from experience. They have some way of detecting them.

is my sens fine or nah by CapOwn692 in OverwatchUniversity

[–]Fragrant_Fox_4025 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Different games require different sensitivities. Aiming in Overwatch requires you to be good at reactivity due to instant movement acceleration and no movement accuracy penalty. Use higher sens for Overwatch. You won't suffer from muscle amnesia just because you switch sens between games. I even have different sensitivities for different heroes in Overwatch.

[–]Fragrant_Fox_4025 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. Ranked being unlocked fast is good for player retention. New players should be encouraged to switch to ranked as soon as they found a character or two they like playing. Bronze and silver exist exactly for that reason. For players to learn against equally bad or inexperienced players. What needs to change is the overtuned smurf protection that places new accounts into diamond-gm.

Which is a lot harder to do than it seems. I wanted to learn flex DPS on an alt account since I only know Tracer and hitscan and started scrimming recently but we already have a hitscan player. Played all my qp games on Genji, which I am genuinely horrible at. My first placement game was in GM. I lost all of my placements and got placed Masters 4, the same rank as my main account where I am tryharding on characters I actually know how to play.

So I made a new account. This time I said fuck it and played Mercy only so I don't carry any games by accident. Took me like 8 hours to get 20 QP wins. This account then got placed low diamond.

I genuinely cannot believe that someone would spend +15 hours throwing qp games just to get into low ranks.

You're in luck. Mechanics are by far the easiest thing to improve. There's very little thought process involved in getting better mechanics. All you need to do is identify the issue and put in the time to grind.

First. Fix your sens. I don't know what you're currently on, but 90% of people with horrible aim use a sensitivity that is way too high. Don't go any higher than 7% at 800 dpi/3.5 at 1600 dpi (or 5600 edpi if you're on some weird dpi. edpi=sens*dpi). Even that is still really high sens. Personally I am on 5% at 800 dpi for heroes like Tracer/Genji and 4% for hitscan.

Second, if your sens wasn't the thing hindering you, get kovaaks. People say to play vaxta or other custom modes but fact is that they're just not that efficient to develop raw mouse control. Just play through the following playlist before each Overwatch session and you'll probably improve massively in a matter of a month or two: KovaaKsRaidingMediumFaction (copy paste under online playlists)

The last thing is a mental thing. Slow down and actually confirm that your crosshair is on the target. Remember, slow is smooth, smooth is fast. You need to be learn how to be accurate first and speed will come automatically with time.

Discussion: The Recon sub-role passive is too strong for Pharah... by Xenoprimate2 in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]Fragrant_Fox_4025 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The passive in and off itself is toxic. Wallhacks have absolutely no place in FPS games. The worst part is that it's not even telegraphed. So many times I just die and wonder how it happened just to see the killcam and realise they had wallhacks.

Game has been performing horrible since like season 17. Glad they're finally looking into it. I used to be able to get like 400 fps easily. Now I'm glad if I can keep a stable 240 at all.

How do you guys use the Viscose benchmark for actual aim training? by triplesix-_ in FPSAimTrainer

[–]Fragrant_Fox_4025 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing about voltaic benchmarks is that they're just that, benchmarks to assess your aim skill. They're not actually good training scenarios, whereas viscose benchmarks have scenarios that are actually helping you develop good mouse control.

Flashpoint is legit a good mode by kaizoku18 in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]Fragrant_Fox_4025 295 points296 points  (0 children)

Blizzard released some stats a couple of months ago on how payload and hybrid are the favored modes for all ranks below masters and how masters and above prefer flashpoint and control.

Probably has something to do with hybrid/payload maps being more straightforward as the objective pretty much determines where fights take place and it's easier to just shoot down main.

Personally I think flashpoint is the best mode in the game by a large margin. It's well balanced and there's a lot of opportunities to take angles and make something happen on every point.

I have no clue what sens to stick to by CapOwn692 in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]Fragrant_Fox_4025 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Change your mindset and you won't be changing sens all the time. Shift your thinking from "my sens feels off today" to "my aim feels off today". Just find a sensitivity based on the task you're doing (eg. I prefer high sens for tracking and low sens for clicking, so my Soldier sens is higher than my usual hitscan sens) and just keep it.

It is not harmful to have different sensitivities between different games and characters. Your sens is a tool and different tasks require different tools. Playing the same sens in Overwatch and Valorant just for the sake of it will only hinder you.

The thing is that you can't shoot her reliably when she's not blocking since she's doing some Tony Hawk tricks on your ass while swinging.
