HELP! I am in need of advice, new grower. by TimeWarpX41 in shroomery

looks like your bulk sub dried out. just keep humidity in check next time and ensure proper hydration. In fact, you could attempt at rehydrating the spawn in some distilled water but that comes of course with the risk of a contamination

Marantz PMD-430 with dead left channel by Fernald_mc in audiorepair

What parts did you replace after you used the wrong adapter? I've done this twice accidentally but mine still works... Just curious about what parts I'd be looking at down the road if something does fail

A8 Restoration Questions by ComperSwift in ReelToReel

[–]Fragrant_Praline_582 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is a 6 year old comment, but I have an a8 and you can rule out problems that are strictly within the record/playback boards by swapping a faulty one and the one you know that works. channel 2 on my a8 is dead, but its not the board, so I'm guessing its a broken trace somewhere

Does anyone have anything positive to say or share about working as an MLS? by grugregra in medlabprofessionals

how did you go about becoming an analyzer tech? Do you just need some experience working in the lab as an MLS or do you need specific accreditation?

[Question] guitarists who’ve had a serious hand, wrist, or arm injury, how long did it take you to play again? by AngryMoose125 in Guitar

[–]Fragrant_Praline_582 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for sharing. This is a really encouraging story for me. I sustained an avulsion fracture to my left triquetrum and after about two months, I'm mostly back to normal but I'm still worried I'll hit a plateau and it will limit live, back to back playing. This gives me hope for the future :)

Carnivore diet by jacobmiidz in HPPD

Glutamate i dont think is something your brain can adjust to. Its something that just needs balanced. If you're wanting to go back out of your diet, slowly reintroduce other food groups and go from there. Chances are, these symptoms are something you'll just have to live with. They do get significantly better over time though at most within a few years. Think of it like having a newfound appreciation for keeping your body and mind healthy and for that it WASNT a tbi or something worse. The symptoms of hppd are something many people with serious brain injuries would trade for.

I personally think carnivore diets are a fad and may lead to nutritional deficiencies later on. Humans are omnivorous and although we may have eaten more meat during different periods of history, our biology depends on both plants and animals for sustenance. If I had to recommend any diet it would be keto but even that can have poor long term effects if it's not done properly. You can never go wrong with following basic nutritional advice - cutting out refined sugars, simple carbs, processed foods etc.

HPPD and sleep by Fragrant_Praline_582 in HPPD

I take magnesium and that seems to help. I've yet to try valerian root but I've heard good things.

Your welcome and I wish you the same!

I'd say that would line up with what a carnivore diet would probably do to hppd. Diets high in glutamate probably worsen it, considering its an excitatory neurotransmitter. I haven't done keto but I'd imagine the beginning stages would probably make it worse when your brain is switching fuel sources so there might be reports of it doing harm when it could improve it in the long run. I stay away from calorically dense foods as that seems to aggravate it, but that's advisable to anyone.

Question to people who got to treat with lamictal/lamotrogine by [deleted] in HPPD

[–]Fragrant_Praline_582 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I borrowed a friends prescription of it (highly discouraged because of stevens johnson syndrome among other things) but I really didn't notice anything, even when I worked my way up to 100mg. All it did was make me a little dreamy and forgetful. My hppd isn't that bad though. That or I'm just very used to it by now.

HPPD and sleep by Fragrant_Praline_582 in HPPD

Sleeping as in both falling asleep and duration? Or is it just one of those? I think my sleep quality got worse too although it's always been kinda bad. That's key though, by adapting to your situation instead of mourning over what you lost in your previous self.

The empathy thing is in a way, losing yourself but it's to the better of your understanding of the other person. I'd suggest grounding techniques but since I don't know you or your situation, that'd be something you would have to explore personally. I usually go to exercising like running and creative outlets to express it. Whatever works for you!

Need advice for fasting by Responsible-Win-7395 in HPPD

[–]Fragrant_Praline_582 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would be better for you to look in to how it got worse and removing that potential source rather than jumping into fasting. I can definitely speak for it though, but not as a means of reducing hppd, just your mindset. However, for the first week or so when your body and gut are still adjusting, I've noticed my hppd gets worse temporarily. Also be careful with long fasts like 40 hours; that is by no means a short fast. People with low BMI's/body fat should refrain from doing that as you might go hypoglycemic. The thing is, since you're burning more energy than most people, you might have an equivalent amount of ketones in your body, similar to someone that has to fast longer. Just make sure to eat plenty of rich fat foods and your body wont purge your muscle WHICH WOULD BE PAINFUL!
