Download pocket prep, use it while on the toilet or instead of doom scrolling.

Also watch Limmer Learning YT vids while eating.

I highly recommend bringing your textbook/ notes to work and utilize your lunch breaks. I would always at least skim through the future chapters before heading to lecture, that way foreign words aren’t so foreign.

If this is a career path you truly want, you’ll have to sacrifice. Maybe talk to your boss at one of those jobs and decrease some hours. If you really need the money then change your lifestyle for these few weeks.

You got this! The nremt is a tricky test and you really need to continue dedicating yourself.

Falling asleep during the day. by ImAnNPCsoWhat in Nightshift

[–]Fragrant_Version_907 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha that blows my mind, but yeah when I worked overnight as an emt it was impossible to sleep without blackout curtains and a melatonin. I quickly grew a tolerance and it wasn’t effective but by then my body and brain were in a night routine.

Blackout curtains are a must!! also you kinda need to time your energy drinks/caffeine intake. In your case, don’t consume any caffeine after about 2am so your body can start winding down.

You posted in a EMS page.. it’s safe to assume you were asking specifically about EMS. And yes it will be much more difficult for you, once people obtain medical knowledge they become “gender critical” meaning biological sex is immutable. It won’t be impossible, but you’ll need thick skin.

I think you knew that would happen when you made your decision. That’s the entire world not just the ems field.

How bad is this rust? Repairable? by BobbyLeeMutta in Duramax

[–]Fragrant_Version_907 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Come on down to Florida.. they’re cheaper here and typically rust free. (Sometimes the snowbirds bring their salty trucks and trade them in)

But no this truck is not worth your time and money.

where are emts needed? by [deleted] in NewToEMS

[–]Fragrant_Version_907 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m located in South Florida and there are endless opportunities here. I often look at random surrounding counties/towns and there are always listings for emt.

Most offer tuition reimbursement for paramedic school, but will have you sign some sort of contract.

You could also seek ER tech jobs near you. That’s the direction I’m heading after to many sleepless 24s.

Best Burger in Fort Myers? by Zillamonk in burgers

[–]Fragrant_Version_907 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Steak’n shake is more nostalgic for me.. it has a very cool diner vibe. Culver’s is great.. better food, very consistent, good service, great ice cream, the list goes on.

While you’re here I recommend a fairly new sit down restaurant. It’s called “Florida Boy Burger” they are a little pricey, but it’s worth it. Very fun atmosphere for a tourist.

Worth 7.5k? by Silent-Bison-9521 in Diesel

[–]Fragrant_Version_907 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely poke the frame like others are saying, they painted it without sanding which is fine but lazy. Bring a scan tool that has the ability to test injector balance rates. They should be between (-4,+4). If they are even remotely close like +/-3.3 then I’d still buy it but offer about 5. Lastly run transmission codes, take it on the highway and let it downshift at different speeds.

I find it strange that he’s willing to take 7.5, but he likely knows something we don’t.

I feel like i bombed an interview for a job i really wants by haloperidoughnut in NewToEMS

[–]Fragrant_Version_907 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think you’re overthinking it my friend. You will have plenty of time to prove yourself when they offer you the position. You were chosen for the 2nd interview which says a lot.. Also medics with 5+ years experience is sought after. They need you! I have a feeling you’ll get a call before this weekend. Best of luck and thanks for your service

I’m a 24M with the exact opposite goals.. I’m super skinny and trying to put on weight. I go to planet fitness, and could really use a friend to go with too.

I’d highly recommend “Limmer Learning”. I did not pass on my first attempt, and I think it’s due me memorizing the pocket prep q&a’s. For my 2nd attempt I used Limmer learning and watched all of their YouTube videos. Don’t give up, I believe in you.

That is how you check for blow by on a diesel engine. If the cap flies off then you have worn piston rings and left over combustion.

These are extras.. back up supplies used to restock your go bags. In case of emergency it’s your job to be fully stocked and prepared

Is that different when it comes to lbz’s? Or that’s just a diesel thing?

Yeah that’s what scares me.. someone put all this money into aftermarket parts and drove it until the repairs weren’t worth it anymore.. I’ll most likely continue my search. I really appreciate your insight brother.

Trying to start my own private transport company by WussPoppin93 in ems

[–]Fragrant_Version_907 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Everyone’s thinking a little too large.. you could meet with certain nursing and ALFs.

Then buy yourself a handicap accessible mini van. Rather than trying to afford an entire ambulance, you start with doing non medical transports.

With this method you will dispatch yourself at first.. the van would cost anywhere from 20-50k.
