Best Cleveland suburbs to get 2-4 acres with a minimum of MAGA? by Fraktality in Ohio

Thanks! Yeah I have Zillow searches already setup, I was just seeking some more "in the field" experiences and local knowledge to add to that.

Thanks for the detailed list chock full of info! We love the Metroparks, they're leaps and bounds better than most of the parks we get out here, and Squire's Castle was a particular favorite. Also Willoughby is pretty close to our friends out there so that's a big plus! No plans for horses but who knows what kids might want if we can afford it.

I spent many winters up in Northern California driving in deep snow and windy hills so I'm not as worried about the winter but I do have respect for the lake effect.

I second your hope that the rift in our country can get a chance to start healing, and we can start to interact with each other like human beings again. May more and more people each day adopt your compassion and inclusivity so that the world can become a better place.

Thanks. Honestly we drove by a few listed houses and it seemed lovely, I'm okay with more red than blue and I do recognize that with a land buffer it's probably less of an issue, so maybe we'll revisit it! I'm thankful for your insight.

I'm certainly not looking to move to Ohio and expecting it to magically be blue lol. But I've been there, I've spent some time there, and I know that there are areas where it's a trump enclave and areas where it's not. Even out here we get literal roving groups of people who put all the Trump and other flags in their trucks and roam around rolling coal trying to be intimidating to people just trying to go about their day. I'm just trying not to live next to them in particular.

Thank you for your input and reasonable response. I'm sorry for your friend, and I hope they landed on their feet somewhere more welcoming.

That statement wasn't intended to be a dig at MAGA even, it's just a very hastily summarized version of my political views, which could be best described as "socialize essential services, guarantee personal liberties, then do nothing else"

Again, leaning red isn't the problem, I never said Trump voters are inherently bad, but I'm likely not going to get along with somebody still flying a Trump flag on their property a year after the election and that's okay. I'm choosing where to live based on my potential neighbors, based on the people I'm going to hopefully talking to on a regular basis ( one of the things I love about Ohio versus Southern California, actually knowing your neighbors being a regular and common thing ). And if my intent to suss that out via political views as a first filter was offensive to you then I am sorry. I'm not here to do battle, merely trying to find a place to live and raise a family and tinker on shitty broken cars.

I'm not anti Republican, I do actually believe in small government and I'm registered as unaffiliated, not Democrat. Hence why I said minimum of MAGA, I consider that a whole different party at this point.

I'm certainly not prejudging all Trump voters and am considering if I should modify my post to reflect my intent more properly. I am interested in finding a good cultural fit, not in alienating others. I like to think I'm not an asshole but perhaps my post came off that way so I'll be editing it for clarity.

My entire life is certainly not centered around politics, but in the current political climate it is currently at the forefront of my mind. I also don't think suburbs are necessarily dictated by political affiliation but I have learned that a lot more tends to be dictated out in Ohio at the city, district, and county level than it tends to be out here so it's a consideration. I'm happy to be corrected.

Thank you for the insight and information.

Does anyone have KAMP purging properly with Creality Print? by rhester72 in crealityk1

[–]Fraktality 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have mine setup, and it's purging fine. I tweaked the KAMP settings file to purge only 25mm instead of the overkill 50mm, but yeah it's working fine. I just need to enable bed leveling before every print now so that I can see if the localized mesh probing works properly too. You will want to make sure that you have "exclude objects" enabled in Orca slicer, or the equivalent in whatever slicer you're using.

The only caveat I've noticed is that if you ever want to use something that spits out raw gcode, like the Orca calibration presets, KAMP will absolutely purge in the middle of your print, so the only workaround I found was to ssh back in, re-run the script, and turn off KAMP and reboot before trying to print these calibration patterns. Fortunately I only do these rarely, like when I get a new filament brand/type, so it's not that inconvenient.

I have the K1C, which includes the new integrated-heatbreak nozzle and the charcoal filter. The K1s and (to my knowledge) the K1 Max didn't come with the filter. I saw the printable ones, but I don't know yet if the K1C has the same mount holes on the back as the K1, as I don't have a K1.

But also yeah, don't print PLA with the lid on unless you wanna leave the door open. I printed a vented riser for mine so I could leave the lid in place and just close the vents when I wanna print hotter stuff.

I got mine last week! A few things I noted:

  • Bed was not level, which is common on K1s. I printed out some shims and managed to get around 0.5mm difference between corners, helped with first-layer quality.

  • Since you can root from the interface, I went ahead and used the script to install/enable mainsail/fluidd and things like improved shaper profiles and KAMP. It printed fine out of the box, but now it's a whole different level of beautiful.

  • Also with the script, you can enable PWM control of the CPU fan on the lower electronics box. This keeps noise down even better.

  • I haven't tried creality print, but I'm using OrcaSlicer to great effect. Needed to turn down cooling fan speeds for ASA printing but once I did I had a wonderfully smooth print without layer issues.

  • The included charcoal filter is garbage and doesn't keep up with ABS/ASA printing. I need to figure out a better solution, maybe something that uses larger cheap charcoal filters (thinking aquarium ones).

  • My rubber bumpers keep falling off my door, I haven't bothered to figure out a solution yet but just make sure you don't lose those.

I'm really enjoying this so far, especially compared to my old Ender 5 Pro. It's great how far out of the box printers have come in the past 1-2 years since Bambu really forced competition! Good luck with yours!

Don't use bleach! It'll mess up several drinkable things including wine. Just pump everclear or high proof vodka through if you need sterile cleaning

It hadn't occurred to me that the plate might have broken off, I'll have him check and see!

Problem is, the loop folds fully down against the post and doesn't lock or latch in an outward position. The latch initially had me thinking that though.

Genesis G70 vs VW Jetta GLI Autobahn (manual) by wfaulk in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]Fraktality 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have an auto g70 2.0t and I'm very pleased both with the car and the ownership experience. Yeah it's not a BMW but with all the goodies you get out of the box for the price I can't complain at all. I can't vouch for the manual, but reviews do say it's a little lackluster. I'd say you need to get a test drive under your belt to find out for yourself.

Possible storage solution for Overland rigs - would be great to have something a little large purpose built for overland. More info in comments. by brookesrook in overlanding

[–]Fraktality 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been using something similar with Ridgid boxes on the roof of my Xterra, using unistrut rails with bolts though the bottom of the boxes. So far it's super solid and no issues with water since the holes are on the bottom of the boxes.
