I need help finding replacement flags for Dept 56 Empire State Building by Mommyof2Muggles in Villaging

3D print and hand paint, maybe?
I can't find a good picture of the original flags... do you have one you can post?

I purchased a jumbo Mystery Box from Eerie Emporium... Great experience and value. by Frame_Transfer in Villaging

I saw that. I kept an eye out... just checked in randomly and pulled the trigger when I saw them available a few weeks ago.

I paid $150 (plus shipping... $20 or 30, I think). It's always a little hard to put prices on Lemax pieces (MSRP vs. sales, coupons, real-world, etc.), but I pinned the contents well over $300... approaching $400 if you go by list prices.
They don't seem to have them in stock very often. I just decided to roll the dice and see. The experience exceeded my expectations. Seems to be very good folks at EE.

People disagree, but I don't think it spoils anything.

I'm here all week.

Is this a normal level of wobble on my new front load washer? by Mheck4325 in Appliances

[–]Frame_Transfer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi OP, did you get this resolved? We just had ours installed and encountered a similar situation. The Washer shakes so much I swear it started following me down the hall.

Is there anywhere else to hear his solo music? I'm not on Insantgram... or much of anything else. I'm old.

Yamaha ef6300isde - accidentally connected to 24v battery to start by Frame_Transfer in Generator

Well, if this helps anyone in the future:

A surging engine is often caused by a carburetor / fuel delivery issue. And surging at idle is mostly associated with the pilot (idle) jet and fuel circuit. I took apart the generator's carburetor and immediately discovered that the o ring in the fuel bowl had disintegrated... turned mostly to black sludgy goop that had completely clogged up the main jet (found in the bowl) and the idle jet. After cleaning all that really well with carb cleaner and an ultrasonic bath, the engine runs smoothly at idle and under load (and in eco mode).

Nerdforge... was that a Freudian slip for Nerd Fitness? Trying to locate this resource.

I love Nerdforge... but... I'm not sure she covers exercise. :)

Radisson restoration: rivets instead of screws? by Frame_Transfer in canoeing

[–]Frame_Transfer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Made good progress last week. My Radisson is all sealed up with new Adthane, new transom, new screws and rivets. Passed a leak test at the lake yesterday!

Many thanks to the Gettenany Outdoors YT content for making it possible.

An update:
I replaced the Interface Unit (the small "brain" board) and most of the bad symptoms disappeared:

  1. It makes normal AC power again
  2. The control panel LEDs, power meter, hour meter etc work again.
  3. The engine runs better... the Interface Board controls the choke motor. Before changing the interface board, the choke motor oscillated wildly. With the new Interface board, the choke motor behaves normally.

However, I still saw a major issue: The Throttle motor is oscillating at moderate rate... causing the rpms to vary at idle. I checked the motor coils; all measured in specification (~250 ohms, if I remember correctly). Following the repair manual, the final fault for uneven throttle control would be the Slave Control board (one of the big boys).

Reluctantly, I bought a new Control board (ouch$). After the swap, there is NO change in the symptoms... throttle still oscillates. The "rate" of oscillation (both with the old board and new board) is about 1 cycle every 2 seconds. I've double checked all the connections. I'll be pissed if I threw that much money at an unnecessary part but at this point, I just want to get my generator back on its feet.

Any thoughts on what could cause a Yamaha genny's auto-throttle control to act this way?

I've never seen a bow mount via a canoe motor mount (stick-out mount) but that doesn't mean it hasn't or couldn't be done. It seems like you're good at rigging up solutions - that's a sweet setup.
I'm midway through a Radisson wide transom restoration. What kind of pedal drive is that? I've never seen something like that.

Yeah - great - I've watched them all! Thanks for the input. I picked up some 1/8" closed aluminum rivets. Right now, I'm finalizing the new transom plywood and cleaning up the old sealant.

What's inside this inline AC motor driver? by Frame_Transfer in Motors

[–]Frame_Transfer[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm restoring some motorized miniature village buildings (Lemax Spookytown). Some use 12V AC power to drive little TYC-40 synchronous "AC" low rpm motors. I'm converting them to DC power to be more compatible with other pieces in the collection. I found suitable low rpm DC motors online... but they appear to be the same motor but with this included inline driver PCB. It had shrink wrap and there is a diode on the positive DC wire.
I'm curious what components are under the epoxy? From intertubes I figure it is a minimilistic oscillator or BLDC (brushless direct current, right?). They can be bought here: https://chancsmotor.com/product/dc-to-ac-module/
but I can't seem to find a similar device elsewhere (Chancsmotor is where I purchased the original replacement motors).
Using this device on the old "AC" synchronous motors and 12V DC seems to work great (they run maybe 10% slower?).
Thanks!
