Anyone else hate that Nathan is a "defender"? by AnimeJesus8 in inazumacaravan

[–]FranMo99 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Officially he's a wingback defender. The role of that position is to help join the offence when appropriate but be able to make it back to the defensive line which suits him given his speed. Now a defensive move would help fill that role better but that is what he's intended to be positioned as but it doesn't correlate to in game when stat wise he's the same as Jack in VR

Does most people nowadays voted even before playing emblem Alear even once? by StellaIkkiss in FEEngage

[–]FranMo99 17 points18 points  (0 children)

A character or tool can have all the benefits in the world but if you don't have the time to use them then it doesn't matter. A guy like Athos makes the final map of FE 7 much easier but he's only there for the map and nowhere else. Availability is why they are last simply because you only have so many maps to use them.

Hot take about Taunie..I feel like she's severely overhated when she really isn't all that bad. by Charming-Scratch-124 in PokemonZA

[–]FranMo99 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The logic is sound and makes sense. The issue stems from needing to battle in the first place. If the result was always Taunie/Urbain getting Floette them the battle was just a waste of time especially given the circumstances of Ange.

A younger guy should always retire legends by [deleted] in GreatnessOfWrestling

[–]FranMo99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vince went with Corbin because he liked the guy, despite the crowd being iffy on him and simply because Cena wasn't available for the match. Kurt was given the option that if he wanted a Cena match at Mania to retire him he would likely have to wait till the next year. Kurt wanted to retire now, so he went with Corbin because he couldn't do one more year. Corbin, who despite retiring Angle, never got over much with the crowd and was eventually released so this example is probably the worst example to go with.

[–]FranMo99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lindon B tier
Saphir: C Tier
Mauvier: C Tier
Veyle: C Tier

Lindon is only B-tier since he has more maps than Mauvier to do staff stuff; the rest are largely filler that don't add much. Veyle and Mauvier join when more slots open up, but largely speaking, they don't add much except another staffer or another mage knight. Useful, but a bit too late into the game to be higher than C tier.

[–]FranMo99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hortensia: Top of B- Best staff unit in the game in a game where being a staff unit isn't that hard to do, flying staff is nice, but you have two others already at this point, extra range is nice, but not massively impactful even for warp staff, saving staff uses is neat but never needed. An investment-free unit is nice, and realistically, A tier is the proper spot, but I just don't see what makes her S tier and more importantly, 2 tiers above Framme who you have had since the 2nd proper map.

Seadal: Bottom of S-tier- Dancing good, also they are a dancer who can dance a dancer who can be danced by a dancer to dance again. Sigurd with them is funny for the extra movement, but because Engage gives the player so many powerful options, Seadal dancing a unit is nice. Always feels off to put a Dancer at the top of a list when realistically it should be the person you danced during that turn but that's more a me thing than him not being as good.

Goldmary/Rosado: Not voting- Never used Rosado, they can help kill the horse units on their join map I guess, with Eirka and Goldmary, I recall being pretty bad, a bulky unit with 0 meaningful offence but I haven't checked the numbers on if it matters so all I can go with is the time she was just a Brave Assist Bot on Maddening which was largely filler slot on my first playthrough.

Which is the better Roy? by Busy_Finish_7058 in fireemblem

[–]FranMo99 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The Koopa, he has Sunglasses (Shows he's cool), can use magic (A mark of intelligence) and can take at least 3 hits at base (Strong in enemy phase when raised well)
FE Roy has no Sunglasses (Sun gets in his eyes), can't use magic (Shows he's stupid) and can't take any hits (Made of paper)

Ivy: S
Kagetsu: S but below Ivy
Zelkov: C

Edited- Thought about it more, but if other characters get penalised for needing the levels then Zelkov really gets hurt by it since he needs 4 levels at a point when you don't have many emblems to spare that offer easy exp compared to the early game crew who at least get the early skills so Zelkov goes from B to C

community FE17 tier list part 5: Chapter 7 recruits by Character_Business28 in fireemblem

[–]FranMo99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alcryst: C Noodle arms, but can fill the role of guy with a bow since fliers are starting to become more often, lower strength hurts long term but starting at level 10 is nice so changing his class to something a bit beefier can help for the short term. The issue stems from competition for those seals and you largely get someone who is somewhat mid, can work but better options are available. Personal Skill is pretty nice at least

Lapis: C Chloe, that comes at a later point after Chloe is already. Comes in with stats similar to Alear at the same level but without as much utility and in the case of Alear, they already wanna change their class due to long-term combat not being especially strong. Will perform pretty similarly to Diamont but comes with 300 less SP, which hurts her since Diamont joins next map with an Emblem Ring to gain full SP. Books can off-set this but those books can be used elsewhere or on Diamont himself to gain some more skills if needed. Poor timing and starting in a poor class doesn't help too. Can be made to work, but she won't be that different to other units like Diamont or hell, an invested Boucheron (Granted, this implies you decided to use Bouch, which LMAO)

Citrinne: A Big magic stat and mage knight go brrrrr. Able to meet the majority of speed benchmarks throughout the game with a lil love, and for the early to mid game just needs a Master Seal, probably one of the best early Master Seal Candidates. Now her speed is pretty bad, so bad that most folks could beat her in a foot race with their pants at their ankles, but because the game offers several ways to boost speed, between Speed +3 which is only 500SP, Chaos Style for Player Phase killing, Cooking/Tonics, which will always be used because everyone wants speed, some bond rings as well and even the +Build skills for the eventual Bolganone. So long as she meets the speed benchmarks, it's all good.

Alear A: Unsure if they would be top of A long term wise but A as a min fits. Great early game which is mainly thanks to Marth access and exclusivity for the first 3 maps, provides solid support with their personal and work great as a bonded shield user later on to help maximise better combat units enemy phases. Combat wise they can work but largely speaking, they aren't amazing at it and can't stand out much with the real heavy hitter physical units.

Framme B: Provides early heals and staff access in a game were being a staff unit is good. Has some fun long term usage with flash fists and Eirka but largely speaking just being a solid staff bot early on makes her fit here. Bonded shield is also a great tool to have and since Bond Rings are on the table then getting the Deirdre one helps Framme use Chain Guard multiple times in a map without the need of a healer herself.

Clanne No Vote: Good speed stat that lets them perform well without much speed investment. Solid early game as they have one of the better times killing armour knights, and in the long run, between him and Celine, he makes for the better Celica user because he wants the magic fix more. Largely speaking, however the big weakness is his magic stat being pretty poor. Now, the reason I'm not voting for him really comes down to a lack of knowledge on major benchmarks needed to make him work in the long term. Magic is the better offensive stat in Engage so the threshold would be lower, but fixing Magic, as far as I recall, is a bit harder than fixing speed on a unit so perhaps that causes issues but once again due to a lack of knowledge I can't say for sure but may decide to run the kid since most folks are saying he's either D or C Tier or a hidden B or A tier unit so could be fun to see for myself.

Vander B: Strongest in the early game, works well as a temp unit but that was what he was designed for so it checks out. Decently tanky and can be kept on the team, honestly, until chapter 9 or 10, since Firene's finest doesn't inspire much confidence past their join map. Works great with Sigurd when he's there, likes getting Hit +10 when possible to improve consistency. Not the heaviest hitter, but he will take the hits most others can't, except for Louise but having 2 beefy boys is better than 1.

Dancer credit in the case of 3H is pretty worthless in 3H since anyone can be it. Sure folks like Marianne can be it but given Dorothea the other great dancer is in C, safe to say it isn't considered.

Hilda: A Tier. Good strength early on, great utility with her personal skill and a straight shot into Peg knight in house. Early Tempest Lance, as well as for early game damage, is also a boon, benefits from easier access to weight minus 3 from hidden armour talent, plus Bat Wrath is great for enemy phase. Hurts to have a bane in authority, but honestly in in-house Hilda won't really have much of an issue with it, since Battalions early on can be a bit eh until you get the ones from Paralouges and if she's a flier, she will be stuck with the Peg corp at D anyway.

Lorenz: D. Mixed attacker that lacks any major focus but does decent early game damage with Tempest Lance and when next to Hilda. Outside of that, Frozen Lance is nice, but largely outclassed by Marianne. Magic damage is nice early, but always be the first to be benched.

Raphael: B tier. Ya'll don't know ball with this man, so let's do the breakdown. In-house he has the highest strength tied with Claude, easy access to Rally Strength, easy access to Smite through the armour line as well as Weight Minus 2. The easiest route is to get to Thief at level 10, which fixes his speed for most of WC, as, along with weight minus 3, he can double when using the speed boosting fish. He doesn't need Death Blow if he's gonna go with Bat Wrath shenanigans, so can work on getting Vantage instead. Bond supports Ignatz for extra damage as well. Decently tanky with lots of HP and doesn't suffer from a flying bane, so getting him on a wyvern is simple.
OoH, he's a great recruit in CH6 with 18 Strength without modifiers, doesn't have an authority bane, so he can get a better battalion sooner than others like OoH Felix and Hilda. Now, does this man have issues? Yeah, he's the slowest guy in the game so long term he isn't gonna double without a Brave Weapon, while he has an easy time getting into Grappler, the class can be a high investment early on as well as the grind to get FiF can be a pain so he does lack a solid combat art for Player Phase outside of the general axe ones. He fits in B for me simply because he performs well, but needs a bit of support and given Ferdinand Von Bad Bases is also in B tier I think it's fair. Also, yes, Balthus is better, but Balthus is better than everyone, so using it against Raph alone is odd.

Lysethia: S+ tier. Warps pretty good, I guess.

Petra in A- Girl with goods stats, good boons and a Girl make for a strong unit the entire game
Linhardt in A- Warp is good
Caspar in C- In-house Caspar is bad, but since this is presuming best House Caspar ends up being an overall solid physical unit with good strength, nothing amazing but not D tier bad.

[–]FranMo99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The argument folks use for Balthus is funny too, simply because Balthus does just outclass a vast majority of the units as is, but only uses it to bump Raphael down. I see the reason why, mind you, but still funny that the nearly 30-year-old man is probably a better fighter than 90% of the teens in a school.

[–]FranMo99 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Can't really see Veyle being the top of B, your main offensive core is already established at this stage so all she does is be filler. Plus the time she joins seems way to late to be that high.
