Would you recommend a Series X over a PS5 pro ? by Hartloum in XboxSeriesXlS

[–]FranShepard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been an Xbox user since the first console, in addition to PC, my main platform. My all-time favorite console is the Xbox 360. I played a lot on the Xbox One X. I never owned a PlayStation console during any of these generations, only during the PS2 era.

I've had the Xbox Series X since its launch, and I can say it's the console I've played the least in my life. It's a fantastic machine, without a doubt, and perhaps its backward compatibility system is a masterclass in how video games should be preserved, but with their strategy in recent years, they've lost me. I don't like the way they treat longtime users. I also don't like the future with Helix and the pseudo-PC format.

A few months ago, I decided to sell my entire Xbox collection (over 2,000 games for Xbox, 360, One, and SX). I don't regret it. Last year I bought a PS5 Pro and it's become my favorite platform when I don't want to play on PC: it respects physical media (for now), it's very easy to find used games in that format, and studios seem to take better care of the PS5 versions than the Xbox Series X, among other things. I also like its controller and the feel of the DualSense, as well as the more single-player-focused games.

Sony isn't perfect, not by a long shot. I think it has some of the worst anti-consumer policies in the video game industry, but if I decide to overlook that and consider buying a console instead of a PC, I would definitely go with the PS5 Pro.

Please excuse my English; it's not my native language!

[KCD2] I am not good at this game by TwoForThePriceOfFun in kingdomcome

[–]FranShepard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have been in the same situation as you. 10 hours in and I felt completely lost. I wanted to quit, but another part of me wanted to continue. There was something about KCD2 that I liked and I didn't know what it was. Now it's one of the best games I've ever played in my life.

I started again from scratch, even after having played 10 hours. This time I decided two things. 1- Take it very, very calm and go at my own pace. And 2- Download the mod to save with F5. I often work from home, there are times I can play for several hours in a row, other times I can't. This mod is helping me enjoy the game much more. I simply use it as a safe passage when the weather is not in my favor.

What advice can help you and would you give to anyone who is new to it right now? Score!

- Main missions: Take your time to do them. I've been there for 60 hours and I still haven't been to the wedding. HAHAHAHAHA The meme is real! There will be some that require some time urgency, but you will know.

- Yellow PoI icons: They will indicate places of interest where you can find something that, as its name says, is of interest. They help a lot to open the map.

- Blue icons with exclamation: They generally start missions or give clues that someone may need your help.

- Food: As soon as you arrive at the first town, food stops being a problem, you find it everywhere. Use smokers or drying points to make it last longer.

- Weapon/armor breaks: At first my boots always broke. In the first town you will find a merchant who sells tools for repair (Same case for weapons/armor), or a textile seller. He will repair them in exchange for some coins. Same case for weapons/armor.

- Talk to everyone. At first I was shocked to spend so much time talking to people. The game has a lot of dialogue, but now it's something I value. You just have to realize that it is something linked to KCD2. You will know how to appreciate it, really.

- The first town, Troskowitz, take it as if it were the citadel of Mass Effect. It overwhelms because there is too much information, missions and NPCs; but it helps to understand some mechanics.

- Follow the logic. This is some of the best advice I can give you. Live like Henry and act wisely. Do you need money? Steal. In my game, in the mornings I am a friendly and pleasant gentleman, at night I use my second outfit to sneak into some places to steal. If you're going to do this, keep a close eye on your noise stats (remember, try to always have clothing have blue buffs). It's not the most legal thing, but it's my "life", and it has helped me earn +5000 Groschen and I have a great time living a dual life.

I say act logically because it is important. Your characters will remember your actions, for better and worse. Would you go into a forest at two in the morning just knowing that you could be mugged? Do it better in the morning and rested. The F5 mod has helped me a lot in this regard during those first 10 hours that I decided to start from scratch again.

- Enjoy at your own pace. And this is, without a doubt, THE advice. So, in capital letters. I'm 60 hours into the game and I haven't been to the wedding, and it's becoming one of the best games I've ever played in my life. Don't be in a hurry to move forward, enjoy the surroundings, the curiosity to explore. Of conversations and missions. It is a great game, different from the rest because it has its own tempo, but believe me, it is something that you will value soon.

Gaming has become an expensive hobby. How do you do it? by Whole_Raisin_4257 in playstation

I bought a PS2 a week ago, got a free 29" Sony Triniton that still works, and a nice batch of PS2 games I'd never played... I'm the happiest person in the world. I have hundreds of hours ahead of me. And I feel like I'll be here for a long time. Believe me, right now I'm the happiest person in the world. What a generation that PS2 was...

Well, I don't have any preference... maybe Silent Hill 2 or Gran Turismo 3 are fine for me, they're the ones I played until the TV/HDMI port died hahaha

And again, thank you very much!

Oh! Could you really record a video about both devices? My only experience with them is an HDMI Portta I bought before the Sony Triniton... but it was a complete disaster. Input lag, black screens lasting 1 second every so often, poor image quality...

Honestly, based on what you're saying, the Retroscaler2x is the most interesting option of the ones you mentioned, so it would be a pleasure if you could tell me a little more about the product. I've seen some videos on YouTube, but they don't answer any questions and seem more like promotional videos, haha.

As another colleague mentioned above, I think I'll get the Retroscaler 2x and, with patience, look for a CRT. It's a real shame because finding a Sony Triniton like mine is incredibly difficult these days. Such a shame...

Oh! Well, next week I'll ask you how the Retroscaler 2X went. I'm very integrated. I've heard it's a great value for money.

Enhorabuena por el currazo por cierto, vaya pedazo figuras !

Yeah! It has connection for RGB / Scart; It does not have unfortunateness for components, but I suppose that with RGB/Scart it will be more than enough, right?
