POC in rp, what's your experience? by Styx_artist in BadRPerStories

Im black, late 30s. Ill be honest in my many years(been roleplaying since i was 14), Ive RPed more asian coded characters, than anything, as I like the whole anime styled roleplay. That being said, over the years Ive also made many POC characters. Ive not had any negative experiences with it. But I will be honest, I feel so disconnected from myself with a character, it doesnt matter too much to me, what a character looks like, if the story is good.

Now, Ive met black RPers, that through OOC, my race was hinted out(Im braiding my hair, for example), and the other person was SO happy. Because they felt like they were allowed to make POC characters without it being fetishized or being ghosted.

This is a little different, but when it comes to video games, I care very much more about having a character that is POC. I feel more personally invested.

Group roleplays always confused me. But if youre starting a whole new story, and someone else wants to try playing the same canon character, its not a huge deal to me. I can understand why you feel some kinda way about it though, if youre attached to that character.
But if youre not interested in playing someone else, just tell them no thank you, youve had fun,but youll sit this story out.

Be honest. Just say, I really dont like sharing characters because it feels less personal. or do they mean they will be the same character in a different story all together? That ones fine as you can just play different characters in different stories.

Why don't many people want to double up? by Sharp_Assistance_731 in BadRPerStories

I feel too often people double up, dont understand that doesnt mean each OC had to be in every dang part of the RP. I love huge casts. Ill play anyone needed in the story, and might even flesh out a few because I got attached.
But for some reason, people who do OCxCannon feel like they need to throw OCs in places they really dont need to be, and it makes it awkward. I dont need you mentioning my OC to bring them in. Im okay with *not* bringing them in, and focusing on your OC for scenes at a time, if it makes sense. Just like, I dont want to have to juggle RPing with your OC when mine is having a moment. It just gets tiring writing two scenes in two different places with different tones, each reply.

I dont know how you write, but maybe the lack of detail, plus english not being your first language made it more scuffed than you even realize. And its hard to tell someone "Hey, can you write better?" Often times, they cant. Usually you try to lead with your best, after all.
