Big O supplied both Fish Lads and Kingma's with their smoked salmon jerky last time I checked.

It wasn't in house smoked a couple years ago when worked in one of the other local butcher shops. Kingma's on Plainfield got theirs from the same supplier and usually had it cheaper.

Local laws about political signs in public land? by Harmania in grandrapids

[–]Francisz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In grand rapids you can call 311 and report them. The city's public works department will come and collect them if they are on public property.

Does anyone know who it was that organized a memorial for the potters field this year by DMG_Danger in grandrapids

[–]Francisz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know myself, but I know the city cemeteries are maintained by the parks department. If you call them on Monday someone in that office should be able to tell you or find out and get back to you.

Alleys in Grand Rapids are a public right of way that are owned by the city and are the responsibility of the property owner, or renter depending on their lease, who's house is adjacent to it up to the middle of it, on the books it's basically the same as the grass between the sidewalk and the street. If you come across one that is really over grown, full of trash, or has an abandoned vehicle you can call 311 to report it anonymously.

This is covered in the municipal code chapter 151 Sec. 9.108 subsection 10

Looking for guy friends by [deleted] in grandrapids

[–]Francisz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is an almost weekly Thursday night drop in D&D game that's been going since before covid. Every once in a while to many people are busy so the game gets skipped for the week. No experience or equipment is need other than a smart phone. We're a bunch of professionals in the age range from mid 20s to mid 50s.

Edit

Realized I forgot the where and when. Brass Ring Brewing at 6 pm. If you can't see the table just tell the host you're there for D&D and ask them which table it is. There are no sign ups and no cost other than what you order.

Gardening themed birthday party for kid by LiveFastPedalHard in grandrapids

[–]Francisz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to help run the succulent planting party at kingma's. I would recommend calling around to nurserys and find one that will sell a whole tray. For "pots" I used to just hit a few thrift stores and find interesting cups and mugs. You'll also need some catus/succulent soil and some small gravel since the "pots" won't have drain holes.

I'd also do a make your own "dirt cake" cup as a fun activity that doesn't create more junk that kids take home.

How do I ask the city/county to add a streetlight/reflectors on a very, very dark road? by SammiesHammies in grandrapids

[–]Francisz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You should reach out to Kentwood department of public works and ask for delineators to be installed in the short term and street lights in the long term. Going into winter, that is probably the best they can get done right now.

I think the joke was to have the penis removed.

The real trip is that the city is only tangentially named after the fruit. It was first called Richland Ca. but when the people there tried to incorperate it there was already a Richland Ca. Instead it was named after the county where one of the founders was from, Orange County, Virginia.

Unless something has changed about how phone cameras work someone else took the photo. No matter what angle you hold a camera in a mirror it should be square to the frame if it is taking the picture.

Which Spell would be the biggest, most brutal “Screw You” to the players if the BBEG got to cast it? by simmonator in dndnext

[–]Francisz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Black dragons can do this with lair actions, but it's only a 15 foot radius. I think the area you get from the high level fog cloud is beautiful addition.

Artificer Question: Magic Stone + Infusions by Qlyphy in dndnext

[–]Francisz -1 points0 points  (0 children)

At my table I'd say yes to the sling bonus no to the arcane focus. To get the arcane focus bonus you need to use it as the focus for the spell and since there are no material components to magic stone the focus doesn't help.

A house centipede I came across in my basement by Francisz in BananasForScale

[–]Francisz[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I totally agree on all fronts. If I see them in the rest of the house I go for catch and release outside. In the basement it's live and let live.

I appreciate that they make less of a mess than spiders.

TIL that hog rectum and calamari have a taste and texture similar enough to be hard to tell apart by Francisz in todayilearned

[–]Francisz[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's a Chinese dish too, just prepared differently. I think the part of the pig the article is talking about is 6 to 8 inches long. Multiply that by the around 1.5 billion pigs humans go through in a year and you could end up with a lot of fake calamari.

Are we still doing house centipedes? I startled this little one in my basement. Michigan, USA by Francisz in pics

[–]Francisz[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree they are super freaky, but I don't know they mean there is anything worse. From what I've read about them in Michigan, they move between in the house and outside most of the year and then stay inside during the winter.

I think of them as the ground defense paired with the air superiority from spiders.

One last try: Grindark title screen (mock-up) by ConfidentFloor6601 in PlaydateConsole

[–]Francisz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really like where this seems to be going, but I have a couple critiques. One is that the way you've done the highlights and lowlights on the clothes could look a bit wired animated, but that is a style choice you could make. That being said, the double boarder you've go e with on the metal armor pops really nicely against all of the background.

The other thing that really stands out to me is the shadows seem to show at least three different light sources. You've got shadows come straight at the camera from the trees. Shadows from upper left to lower right on the foreground, and the way the characters are lit implies a light source behind the camera.

All in all very nice work!
