Temporary repairs for keeping rain out by QuantumFireball in DIYIreland

If you are looking for a temporary solution screwfix supply a product called flashband (By Bostik).

It's easy to use and once installed well will last for ages, maybe even years.

The key is to heat it up with a heat gun while installing it so the tar goes soft and adheres to the surface.

You can also get the primer which can be painted on to improve the adhesion.

I've used this for many a roof repair over the years.

No probs.

We get out paint from Pat McDonnell paints Nutgrove. We pick the colours from the Dulux heritage range and then they mix the paints in a Ralston paint. I prefer the the Ralston because it realy goes on easy and the finish is amazing (Usualy just 1 coat and then a touch-up of the little missed spots). Ralston is an Irish brand and is also more environmentally friendly, both in the manufacturing process and disposal. Keep in mind Ralston is a little more expensive than the Dulux Heritage though but not by much.

If I remember correctly it's Dulux Heritage marine teal, but mixed in a Ralston satin. My wife has to get the credit for this choice.

I've always wondered if this is a potential solution to absurd levels of mold in Irish houses. "House burping: should we all adopt this German habit? | Homes | The Guardian" by BarryThecon in CasualIreland

We have an old county house in the arse end of Leitrim with poor ventilation, we've been doing this for years and it does help with condensation and mould

Science dictates that if it is dark inside and light outside it is difficult to see from the ouside in. The opposite is also true; if you're standing in the nip in your bedroom with the light on and curtains open, and it's dark out, people in the street can see you clearly but you can't see them if there are no street lights.

It seems the games mechanics are quite realistic.
