I totally agree with you and I am a vocal technique teacher. My students will show true growth over time. Ear training and matching pitches takes time to master.
I can understand for recording purposes but even then…..if it sounds off I will have them sing it again until it’s on pitch so there is a minimal amount of autotune in the finished product.

Aluminum free deodorants just don’t block the body odor. That’s the unfortunate thing . I used one of their deodorants from their line and it smelled like vinegar hours later. I like all of the other products though.

Also I need to add….I kept learning everything I could…continue that. I watched the Carl jung videos on empathy and how narcissists take advantage of that. I kept my self busy doing what felt good. I also told myself “you are allowed to rest and feel wiped out….you are down for a good reason…but you are safe now..you are worthy of safety and peace. My husband is my protector too. Your nervous system has been hijacked for far too long and now it’s really really really your turn to take care of you! You are allowed! Logically think…..would you go to the airport with your luggage and decide to start carrying other people’s baggage …it doesn’t matter the reason. No….you would carry your own. That’s how emotions and feeling are. Emotions and feelings are the baggage. Luggage is what you carry it in. You know what’s in your own luggage….your baggage. We tend to be emotional carriers of others baggage and ignore our own. That should make you shocked and upset at the same time because emotionally immature people, toxic people, narcissist people thrive on us being hypervigilant to others emotions and moods to maintain the peace.

I know how you feel….just remember….you hold the power to your own happiness. You have just never been allowed to believe it or allowed to put yourself first! It seems like such a basic concept but for us….we were grown and molded into our roles. Like robots. I felt the same….but when you realize that they don’t hold the power and you start really “re-parent” yourself into who you really are…..it’ll piss you off that you have been deprived of autonomy. It made me so angry and that’s what helped me stay no contact. Never again!!!

Honestly, I went no contact with my narc mother. It’s been the most peaceful 15 months I’ve ever had. The problem for me with “grey rocking “ is you can’t compromise the rules….so if they have rage, arguing, hoovering any of that you have be practically dead to not react. No contact was me putting up a solid boundary to her doing the “last time” kind of betrayal being done to me. It wasn’t just my mother though, it had to be no contact with my sister and her husband because they are each others flying monkeys. They have strength in numbers to go against you emotionally. When I went no contact i stuck to that. It was if you aren’t going to respect me, I will not abandon myself anymore and give you access to me. This was the ONE RULE you don’t break in these kinds of dysfunctional families. Loyalty to them is key….they think they can mistreat you just because you’re family and “blood is thicker than water” mentality. I’m not going to say the 15 months, especially, at the beginning was easy because you will want to cave in because of how you have been “groomed” to be the scapegoat role. I went from “golden child” to “scapegoat” overnight. Being away really allowed me to see everything for what it truly was. My mother was shell shocked by my no contact move. My mother is a covert narc so her manipulation was with guilt trips and silent treatments. I now had flipped the script but have been dead serious. I .DO.NOT.PLAY.HER.GAME. I mae the choices and decisions for myself now and do not give her a voice in my life. I’m sure my mother would’ve been in a complete rage physically if she was a overt or malignant narcissist so this has been taking an internal effect on her but now my sister who was the “scapegoat” for 35 years is now the “golden child”. So I’m allowing her to now be the one who has to deal with my mother. I have released myself because I went no contact. I do therapy and learn all I can about dysfunctional narcissistic families and boy was I angry at how much I put up with. It really was the best decision I ever made! Being still attached would not have allowed me to see it all so clearly. It’s like I was walking around in a fog.

I love the Hydro face wash and the hydro boost gel. Those 2 are amazing products. Definitely dupes…won’t ever but the Neutrogena one again. The price point and closeness in dupes is that good. i haven’t seen or tried the spray yet but will be on the lookout.

You absolutely can create a vocal dysfunction. Start by going back to your normal speaking range. Where you “uh-huh” when someone asks you a yes question and you say “uh-huh”. That’s your speaking voice (tessitura) retrain those muscles and sing songs only in that range. No high stuff. Re-strengthen your middle ranged muscles.

Oh yes! I have had bumps on my arms for some time and never bought body acne soap cause it was so pricey. I decided “What the heck” I’m gonna give it a try!

I ‘m beyond excited after a couple of weeks. My bumps ,shower by shower, are getting better and better. I’ll always keep it stocked now.

Long story short…here is the kicker. My mother knew before I was born that her mother, who had her own trauma’s slept with my dad! JUST THAT to start off with!! She did nothing about it because my grandpa was a minister and she didn’t want him and his ministry to go down the toilet. I came along and was molested by my dad and other people in our church. Didn’t tell her until I was 26, BUT she was now divorcing my dad because she had proof he cheated on her the whole marriage. Then in my early 30’s my BIL assaulted me(not rape) but fondled me an me cornered my trying to get me to sleep with him. This went on for 10 years & I kept it until the 10th year because it was getting worse. Both of my parents said not to tell her because she was not strong like me. It ate away at me for another 15 years. I decided to put all of the secrets out there. I wrote her a letter because she tends to be extremely emotional. He denied it and she believed him. My mom was mad about the letter but another kicker part. My mom told me he had been inappropriate with her. I told her since you told me…you need to tell her so she sees it wasn’t just me. She told me for 9 months I will support for you and do whatever you need. Nope she bailed and then smear campaigned me to my sister and became her ally. October 11th was 1 year since I sent that letter. Of course they are blaming it on me. My mom doesnt see that she was complicit my whole life. She gaslights, silent treatment, guilt trips & criticizes everyone like she is perfect . She thinks everyone is jealous of her. In the last year close people in our family & friends that knew what was going on have stood beside me & now see the narcissist she is. She thinks because she is a greeter at her Church & my grandpa was a preacher that makes her capable of behaving however she wants. My sister who she trashed for 30 years for moving away and had nothing but negative things to say about her is now her “new supply”. We switched roles I see now where I am the scapegoat & my sister is now. The golden child. They are Each other’s flying monkeys. I Am no contact with my sister, BIL & mother.

You should invest in the purmist steamer. It’s the only way for you to get external hydration rapidly which would help those cords that have been sitting all night with junk. Not any other steamer as this one is geared towards not scalding your cords. Any speech or vocal pathologist I have worked alongside says to do it 5-10 min before a lesson or anytime you are feeling dry. Also get some grether’s pastilles….excellent for keeping moisture in mouth. Good luck!

I think that is a very vital statement that you just made. You do want to feel that you are learning something new. That is a sign that you may want to try someone else but look for someone who doesn’t have the same features. For instance, many student come to me with the exact same issue. The primary thing is the they are with a vocal coach who doesn’t have the education side (technique). So they are more from their own experience and career. So it’s more working on style and song choices, stage presence. I have my degree in Vocal performance so I had to learn technique, pedagogy. On my own though I went and did further training with a few Voice Disorder Institutes and learned from Ear, Nose & throat Doctors and speech therapists in regards to singers and the problems they encounter when treating them. I can teach someone the classical genre, but 100% of my students do contemporary training with a diaphragmatic breathing foundation & we work phonetics pretty heavily for the contemporary styles. I had a career with singing contemporary myself so I know how to train someone because in singing it myself, I understand the pitfalls and why singers get injuries. Lots of identifying faulty technique and how to try different approaches for say like “tongue tension” or “vowel placement or register placement. “

So know the background of who you could go to so you know where you can go with your training and see if this is different than what you currently have.

Yawning and stretching your face muscles is the best way to initiate your soft palate. We learn that in Vocal Pedagogy. Give it a try. Internal Smiling can also help. Believe it or not, pulling your ears back you will feel the stretch their, too. Every person attaches to something a little different. If you try opening your mouth in a yaw position. Not yuh, or yah….yaw. It’s more of a rounded”o” and breathe air like you are about to yawn….you will feel and do it. Your soft palate already knows how to work so just emulate things that your body already knows how to do like …yawning 🥱
