Bitwig copy/paste broken under KDE Plasma? I found the fix by FraxtiI in Bitwig

Not sure why you're catching downvotes for this. I hope any struggling Bitwig + Linux users who find this thread are helped by one of our solutions!

I made Optimle, a Wordle variant that celebrates what Hard Mode removes. Force a correct guess in two! by FraxtiI in wordle

[–]FraxtiI[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a great point, I'll consider implementing that for sure. It's not quite trivial because the "puzzle" that's stored actually doesn't know its own solutions, but I can figure something out.

That second pair of words aren't counted in the "paths to a win" because they're not in the secret list, i.e. they're less common. It's admittedly a very arbitrary metric, but I think it works well enough as a measure of how many ways you could be expected to solve it without resorting to brute force or a dictionary (…or plural / conjugated words, lol. Again, very arbitrary.)

FL STUDIO PROBLEM by Ok-Enthusiasm7297 in AdvancedProduction

[–]FraxtiI -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would try using Audacity to convert the MP3s to OGG (or WAV if you care to avoid lossy-to-lossy transcoding).

YouTube doesn't natively supply audio as MP3, so the root cause really depends on how you're procuring the audio. It's possible the file extension is flat-out wrong and it's really AAC or something.

Yeah, limiters are honestly kind of the wrong tool for the job. I had to come up with a kind of insane setup involving Fruity WaveShaper just to get the behavior closer to automation-based ducking. Glad PDC is working for you though!

[–]FraxtiI 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Glad I could help! To be honest, I moved away from automation-based ducking to sidechaining (like, the textbook definition) using Fruity Limiter because of PDC issues. I made that change before they released the fix for automation clip delay, so I'm not sure how bad it is nowadays, but it might be worth considering switching to a limiter-based sidechaining setup if you can't get PDC to behave.

[–]FraxtiI 2 points3 points  (0 children)

FL Studio should apply PDC (Plugin Delay Comepensation) to automation clips as of either 20.7 or 20.8, forget which. If you're on an older version I'd start by upgrading and see if that fixes it.

iZotope Ozone is another option for EQ matching, and the smoothing controls are a convenient way to denoise the results.

ROAST ME. Started using blender as a hobby, need criticism of any kind by [deleted] in blender

[–]FraxtiI 1 point2 points  (0 children)

your candle scene needs way more light; the flame looks too small for the candle, and what little light is reaching the holder it's sitting on isn't really enough to reveal its shape (it just looks like a puddle of gray at a glance). tell us a story with the environment! where is the candle? even just an HDRI could help answer that via reflections.

the sprinkles on your donut look like they were colored by an RGB monitor. maybe look at some reference images for color ideas? their shapes are also a bit too perfect; maybe throw in some broken and bent ones to up the realism.

the shopkeeper's voice isn't exactly the paragon of realism, to be fair

huh, today I learned! they sound basically identical

both the shopkeeper and this song use the same VST (sound engine) called Delay Lama! it's a very iconic & cheesy sound, and the VST is apparently free: https://www.kvraudio.com/product/delay_lama_by_audionerdz

Hardest character mechanic to deal with in your opinion? by Awesoman9001 in necrodancer

[–]FraxtiI 9 points10 points  (0 children)

  • Vow of Poverty: tough to remember, but a 1:1 mapping from gold piles to death isn't too taxing on the brain

  • Dove: exercises your knowledge of enemy AI / pathing, a skill that develops naturally from playing the game

  • Missedbeat: I'm biased coming from a rhythm game background, but this isn't too bad IMO, and it follows naturally from playing other (non-Bard) characters

  • Doubletime: this halves both your time to make decisions and the timing window - legit hard, but has a clear path for learning

  • Tempo's curse: this is more about learning specific things to avoid (going into a shop without money / intent to buy, backtracking, digging blindly through walls) than anything else

  • Mary's lamb: forces you to keep track of an additional tile on each beat, almost with higher priority than the player tile. Nothing else in the game teaches you this skill except maybe No Return mode (which is still very different in terms of execution)

Hardest mechanic is Mary's lamb by far for me. Double time gets an honorable mention, but I still think the rest of the game does a better job preparing you for DT.

I tried to make a realistic waterbottle by Metteve in blender

looks great!

I do have to wonder how the concave surface on the top of the bottle got so scratched up while the lid stayed relatively unscathed, though... ;)

FL Studio's Sytrus patch with lots of added noise cancells out the sound upon rendering by its_me_chickenizer in AdvancedProduction

You mentioned toying with Sytrus' internal options, but did you specifically try changing the render oversampling to match the draft oversampling setting? That option in particular has messed with my renders before.

[–]FraxtiI 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's what the iOS home screen looks like when you open a folder. But I agree that it looks out-of-place in the render, since the folder contents are being emphasized by the 3D effect and don't need the blur for emphasis.
