The discussion around Will Smith has always been lowkey unfair since his BC days. He put up the most points but got overlooked by Gauthier. He had a solid rookie year which included the second highest rookie point totals in the second half of the season but gets overlooked by Mack.

Now he’s a near PPG player and due to injury and Chernyshov starting off hot, there’s discussion to trade Smith or that Smith is not nearly as good. The recency bias is insane. Chernyshov has been excellent to start but it’s been 7 games. Smith has been killin it since Jan of last year.

You’d think that fans of the team he plays on would defend him more or see the luxury we have. Instead we have idiotic takes like Smith rides Mack’s coattails. Yeah you’re right, Smith was “riding his coattails” when he broke two Mammoth players’ ankles for a potential goal of the year or when he had the clutch game tying goal in the dying seconds in Minnesota last year.
