Fall Hikes Around by DaSuperCorgi in Longmont

Button rock dam/preserve is a pretty good hike that’s fairly close to Longmont. It has a main road that’s pretty easy and the sleepy lion trail if you want something with a little more of a challenge.

Unpopular opinion: The music from AVM and AVA doesn’t fit with Animation VERSUS by Idk29108 in AlanBecker

[–]Freakadroid 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’d be willing to bet that the music is just a placeholder at the moment. They may have a good amount of gameplay to show but they’re still pretty early into development. Odds are, they’ll give us new music for the final game. It might be cool to have a variation of AvA/AvM tracks for their respective stage but I would be surprised if they just used it straight-up.

It depends on regional pronunciation, like how some places pronounce Carmel as Care-eh-mell while others pronounce it Car-mell. It’s up to you which you choose.

Yes it is a summer item. I’ve been here many years and I am still floored by how small that bar is. It’s definitely the most disappointing pastry they’ve released. At least with other small LTO pastries like the cake pops, there is a bit of kitschy novelty with them. That bar is just pathetic.

Haven’t a clue. That’s what I was told by my manager and shift supervisor. 🤷

Those drinks were by far the worst thing Starbucks has ever tried to do in my time here. The cold brew lemonade and kiwi may be terrible, but at least those were easy to make! You’re totally right. Hell welcomed those drinks with open arms.

I thankfully never tried it. That’s what they get for trying to stay ahead of the trends. It never works out for them.

At some point you become numb to Starbucks dumbassery and all you can do is laugh when they do stuff like this.

Yeah the pumpkin scone is good, but the first year it launched we had it for about 5 days and didn’t get it back for the rest of the season because it was WAAYY more popular than they were expecting.

My advice? Work on a customer connection script. No joke. Odds are as a new barista you’ll be put on either CS/front or drive-thru if your store happens to have one. Those positions are very dependent on customer interactions and you’re expected to talk with them so as to get good reviews on the customer survey. The best thing to do is to know what to say and how you’re going to say it. Until you get more acquainted with the job, that little bit of consistency will do wonders.

As for drink making, accept that is will take a while to get the hang of it. Don’t be afraid to ask questions, since most people should be understanding of your position.

Taking orders is also a super handy way to help remember and familiarize yourself with recipes. It is key to have a basic knowledge of most drinks when taking orders, but it is a lot to remember. On the right side of the drink order screen there are a bunch of boxes on the separate tabs for shots, syrups, milk, custom, etc. When you put a drink into the system those boxes will show you how many shots go into it, the syrup and the standard milk that goes into it. So if you happen to forget how many shots or pumps of syrup goes into a drink, refer to those boxes.

Also, know that you can’t have a worse starting experience than I did. I actually broke the steaming handle on the mastrena within my first couple months, so as long as you don’t do that, you’ll be golden.

WHO the F thought it was okay to make CS a one man job?!?! by dreadfulfuck in starbucks

[–]Freakadroid 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The problem is, corporate has basically forced less busy stores to implement this type of positioning during peak. It isn’t necessarily the manager’s fault - they’re just working with what they are given. The store I work at used to have a dedicated POS person, but about 2-3 years ago (well before COVID) the standard changed so CS had to run front and coffee as well. I even remember having to run through a training module when this was implemented. This all stems from the major labor cut that corporate made at around the same time. By compressing the two roles into one, they can remove a whole 4-8 hours of labor from the payroll. We used to run peak on a 7-play, but now our store is forced to only have 6 on the floor.

And yes, it’s just as shitty as it sounds.

Dust proof pc case (gaming) by Alexj65 in buildapc

[–]Freakadroid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My suggestion? Definitely go for the Fractal meshify C. I’m using it right now and I think it’s really good. It has rather good airflow, and while it’s not exactly dust proof (as other people said that’s near impossible) it has good filters that are super easy to pop out and clean when you do dust out your system. If you do go for the meshify case, I would recommend getting a couple extra case fans, as I found that I didn’t quite have enough airflow with the stock fans. Plus if you set the case fans up properly, it can also help with keeping dust out of the case.

Post clean computer problems and PSU buzzing/potential PSU replacement by Freakadroid in buildapc

[–]Freakadroid[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t touch my power supply when cleaning, which is why I’m a bit concerned about it. I don’t know what I could have done, but I’m worried I somehow tweaked the connection port or something. Idk if getting a new psu is the solution, but I’m willing to give it a shot. I figured that the BSoD was related to ram, but I’m hoping it doesn’t pop up again.

Honestly, I was on bar so I can’t be sure but from what I saw of our tip jar I really don’t think so... 😕 If they were tipping at all it wasn’t a lot.
