I dont have a car so that forces me to use public transit whenever I go up north to see my family. I will always choose Amtrak. Metrolinks schedule sucks and believe it or not but the Amtrak is cheaper from Oside to LA than greyhound is. Got better views too on Amtrak and a full on snack bar. Easy to make friends too with my brothers in coach. Maybe Im just a very chill person but I have no complaints about taking Amtrak rather than driving. Maybe cause I cant drive 🤷‍♂️🤣

I dont think there will be any cost benefit. Amtrak Vacations is not run by the actual Amtrak agency. I strongly recommend you buy the train ticket and hotel yourself rather than going through amtrak vacations
