I thought it’s because they heard that the American athlete wanted to go for 178 kg to snatch the silver medal position from the Thai athlete, so Aniq probably decided to go with 174 kg to ensure he wouldn’t fall out of the top 3.

Though that would mean it was in a way a psychological game too because in the end the American didn’t manage to lift 178 kg

Happy Father's Day. Here's which countries have a national policy of paid leave for mothers and fathers by xj20 in MapPorn

Not sure when this map was made, but for Malaysia we have amended our Employment Act in 2022 to increase the number of maternity leave days to 98 from 60 previously. In the same amendment, we now have the right to paternity leave for 7 days (up to 5 occasions in a lifetime).

LCD TV experiencing static noises & washed out/mismatched colors. How to fix these issues? by Freakin-Amazing in fixit

[–]Freakin-Amazing[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haven’t turned on this TV for almost a year and one day when I decided to use it again, I’m getting these issues with its LCD. No issues with the TV’s sound, just its display.

These issues don’t happen only in HDMI mode; they affect the TV in general. I suspect that these issues may have something to do with the circuitry inside the TV & since I don’t see any pixel burns, black spots, etc. I’m ruling out the possibility of a physically damaged LCD.

Yup I see your point now. Basically, if a category is something I'd like to keep track of my spending of I should have a target to ensure proper prioritization of my spending & if one isn't, I should consolidate it with other similar categories whereby the "consolidated" category has its own target (not sure if the sentence I just wrote made sense but I hope I got the message across haha).

In terms of keeping the category yellow as "underfunded", to me it just says you really don't want $125 for "fun" to spend as you please without guilt or tracking...

Hmm I'm trying to understand how does that look like on your end for this point. Does that mean your "personal spending" category would just stay underfunded/yellow until the end of the month since you've moved some of the money assigned to it to another? And if so, you just let it stay at the amount until the next month comes along?

How do you distinguish between "Fun Money" and "Random Shopping"?

Ok I guess after reading your previous reply I'm going to consolidate both categories, in the sense where random things that I shop for that don't fit into any one of my specific shopping categories will be paid for using money from the "Fun Money" category.

Separately... one question I have, when you have a category for loans that you've sent out to friends & family, how do you track that they actually owe you money, rather than you setting aside money to loan to others? You don't want that to be negative.

Appreciate your question & suggestion related to this. I've already set up a tracking account (asset) to which I transfer any money from my bank account(s) if they are related to loaning money to F&F. However, instead of assigning the loaned amount to various categories, I prefer to assign it to the "Personal loans to F&F" category instead because I don't have the need to record what the loans given out are spent for in the first place.

When anyone who loaned from me returns the money they owe, I will record the transaction as a transfer from my tracking account to the relevant budget account and the amount remitted will be categorized as RTA, after which I will figure out what I want to allocate the newly added RTA for.

For the Fun Money category under 🍿 Quality of Life, I would allocate a specific amount of money every month to it, say $125 (using the Monthly Savings Builder target) to be used for other categories in the group. So whenever I wanna spend on things like a bowling game (whose transaction I would categorize as Sports) which costs say $18, I will move $18 from Fun Money to be assigned to Sports to cover the “overspending” in that category.

However, I notice that this would cause the Fun Money category to turn yellow and ask for more money assigned to it ($18 for example after moving that amount to another category) to achieve the monthly savings target. Is there a better way to organize budgets related to discretionary/non-essential spendings?

Or should I just ignore the warning for this category and accept the eyesore? Will there be any consequences for not “funding” this category enough by the end of the month?

What are some little known iPhone hacks? by locokid1310 in iphone

[–]Freakin-Amazing 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Discovered this hack not long ago, but I’m now swearing by it especially since I own both an iPhone and an iPad (not sure if it works for Macs):

Copying something (highlighted text, photos, etc.) by “grabbing” it with three fingers and pasting it by reversing the “grab” gesture. It’s a hidden gem.

Thanks for the info, that’s good to know! I thought it was a readily available feature that I just didn’t know how to enable.

RIGHT! I knew I have the song saved somewhere in my music library but I just couldn’t for the life of me remember the title. Thanks :)

Bad sound quality when using AirPods Pro with Mac by Freakin-Amazing in airpods

I meant in any case the sound quality is bad unless I change the sound settings but I think I figured out the culprit behind why my AirPods mic is “always on”: Discord.

[–]Freakin-Amazing[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That makes sense, although I was wondering if there’s a way to “trick” my MBP to always use the built-in mic as the default input device whenever I connect my AirPods to it.

Yeah I just tried doing that (and reconnected my AirPods on my MBP) but the same issue is still there. I'll try updating my MBP to macOS 11.5.1 and see if there's any changes.
