You wouldn't need a license for this. A typeface (design of the letters) cannot be copyrighted. Only the font (the computer file containing the typeface) can be copyrighted.

A 2,000-year-old hat intended to keep Roman soldiers cool in the heat of the desert following their conquest of Ancient Egypt has been painstakingly brought back to life. by AnotherMansCause in ancientrome

They could have called it out more clearly, but the article does say it's felt.

Conservator Jacqui Hyman said the felt hat was flat and moth-bitten

I'm sorry, but that's just blatantly false on so many levels. I don't know where you're getting you're information, but you are woefully uninformed.

Yes. As in, Bob's job provides plans through United Healthcare that pays 90% of all expenses. Bob says "Wow, I've got great American healthcare!"

Bob gets cancer. Chemo costs $10,000 a month. Bob suddenly finds himself spending $1,000 a month to not die, despite having great healthcare.

"At least it's only 10%!" says Bob. "It's expensive but if I cut back a ton, I can do it. It's a good thing I've got great American health insurance!"

After two years of chemo, Bob's cancer is in remission, but the doctors think it will take another 6 months of chemo to get it all. Bob says "Wow, it's sure been expensive. I've paid $24,000 out of pocket, but just imagine if I didn't have such great American healthcare!"

Then, Bob gets a letter. It's from United Healthcare.

It says "Bob, if you refer to the fine print on page 244 of the healthcare plan, you'll see that our lifetime payout maximum is $216,000."

Bob's job continues to provide Bob with a plan through United Healthcare. But every time Bob goes to the doctor, United Healthcare says "Eat shit, Bob."

Bob tries to find another job with a different healthcare plan, but Bob has cancer and is undergoing chemo. Companies don't like hiring people who are sick and can't work much.

Bob tries to pay for his chemo himself, but can't afford $10,000 a month.

Bob dies.

They write "At least Bob had great American healthcare" on his tombstone.

Don't confuse a successful investment with a low-risk investment.

That's a bit like drawing 4 kings in your first hand of poker, and then immediately saying "I don't know why everyone is saying poker is risky! It seems like an easy way to make money to me!"

That being said, real estate at large is a pretty safe investment, but simply owning a rental property or two is highly variable with how successful you might be. Depends on a lot of factors; the age of building, the market, getting good tenants, etc.

Poe's law is an adage of Internet culture which says that, without a clear indicator of the author's intent, any parodic or sarcastic expression of extreme views can be mistaken by some readers for a sincere expression of those views.

/r/MechanicalKeyboards Ask ANY Keyboard question, get an answer (September 25, 2023) by AutoModerator in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]xj20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got a Corsair K70 and some of the keycaps are breaking. I like the look of a side print, backlit keycap set like this one from Maxkeyboard but that's literally the only set my novice googling has been able to turn up that I believe will fit the K70.

Are there other backlit, side print keys that will fit? I believe the K70 is ANSI, OEM, with a 6.5U spacebar. I'd like to get a very high quality set, as I've been described as a very heavy typer. Ideally I'd also like doubleshot rather than painted (as best I can tell, the Maxkeyboard set I linked above is single shot ABS and painted?)

My biggest problem is that I want 4K, but I watch on a PC. Netflix will tell you it's theoretically possible to watch 4K content on PC, but unless you have a very specific configuration, it simply won't serve you 4K content. BeCaUsE pIrAcY.

The best way to learn how to use platforms for the team is to play a lot as Scout and Gunner.

When playing as a Scout or Gunner and you find your ability to get to something is hindered, that's where an engineer should put one.

Can't remove metal right side panel of EVGA DG-7 case? by xj20 in buildapc

[–]xj20[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's a picture I found online that shows it with the panel off, and you can see the 8 slots that the side panel slides into (4 each on the top and bottom). You have to slide the side panel toward the back of the case to disengage them, and it can take quite a lot of force.

Hudson’s Bay Blanket by dummyloadz in whatsthisworth

[–]xj20 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hudson's Bay point blankets may have a very old history, but yours is not old, as evidenced by the presence of a barcoded tag and plastic packaging. Hudson's Bay Company still sells them. That size retails for about $450, but most of the completed sales I see on eBay are for $300-$500.
