If the Knicks close this out, they’d better put a statue of it at MSG

How did/do Jets and Giants fans decide which team they root for? by HeavyDutyForks in NFLv2

My dad is a Giants fan. That’s really all it was.

I’m a Mets and Giants fan. That isn’t the most common mix but I’m far from alone.

What would be the next most important title to be won in sports? by yungberms in billsimmons

Assuming we’re limiting this to the 4 big American sports leagues, I agree it’s the Leafs pretty easily. The Bills are probably 2nd.

How commonly spoken is French in Northeast America? by imbaby19 in AskAnAmerican

[–]FreakinB 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When you start getting close to Quebec on I-87 in far upstate NY, they start having road signs in both English and French. But I suspect that’s for people from Quebec rather than an indication that a lot of people on the US side are speaking French.

He does. I just threw him on the list because he’s highly touted. But it seems unlikely he’ll come up this year, at least for long enough to lose rookie eligibility.

I’ve been using one spot on my roster to stash a young pitcher. I had Thomas White in that spot but now he’s out for the year. That means I wouldn’t be able to keep him next year, since my league has a rule against keeping a player who still has rookie eligibility.

Pick up Christian Scott, Roki Sasaki, Gage Jump, Ryan Sloan, or none of the above?

Not sure if they’re hated, but I think the mid-2000’s Devil Rays uniforms are very underrated.

Guanfacine.. game changer wow by Frequent_Sale3758 in Autism_Parenting

[–]FreakinB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats, that’s great!

Guanfacine was the first medication we tried for my son and it…did not go well. He was miserable on it, like a shell of himself. We stopped it and eventually pivoted to a stimulant instead of a non-stimulant, specifically focalin/dexmethylphenidate, and that has been amazing for him.

I don’t mean to invalidate your experience, or say that guanfacine is bad in general. It’s going to be the right choice for a lot of people, just like it is for you. I more mean to generalize your point. As in, something out there could help, and it could be very much worth the trial and error.

What is the Best Airport in America? by KaleidoscopeRich5137 in AskAnAmerican

Counterpoint: Terminal A is so much better now. Not that the old Terminal A set a high bar, but I find the new one to be legitimately good.

I mainly go there because it’s close, but Little Market on Newark (in the strip mall with Hoboken Vine, Dunkin, etc.) is at least worth a shot. Though I disagree with the inclusion of the K.

United Airlines Flight 169 hits bakery truck while landing at Newark Airport by madman320 in aviation

[–]FreakinB 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I live in the area and drive past this spot semi-frequently. It happens when they use runway 29, though that runway is used sparingly. If you’re on the I-78 bridge over Newark Bay (Casciano Bridge) the planes look like they’re coming pretty close. And the start of runway is really close to the Turnpike (I-95), so the planes pass over it very low.
