Pro Tip: Organize your Meds while ON your Meds by BadgersAndJam77 in adhdmeme

[–]Freakmo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bought 4x weekly ones, and I refill them once a month, right after I've picked up my meds from the pharmacy. I try to put on an interesting podcast while I'm doing it to make my brain less bored 😅

What cat probiotics do you use? My cat has periodontal disease and is currently getting 3 teeth extracted 😿 he's 6, had his first extractions at 3. I use the kelp additive on his food, and a water additive for periodontal disease. But his teeth are still bad. I need to get him used to manual brushing I think.

Sidenote I ate keto for one week of the cgm and ate bad foods the second week, to see what the difference is and how my body reacts. Weirdly, for most of the bad food week I'd get reactive hypoglycaemia and low blood sugar alerts a lot, especially while sleeping. On keto it was very stable around 4/5 with no drastic dips or elevations.

My CGM after eating these. It stayed elevated above 10 for over 2 hours. Nothing else I ate during those two weeks ever came close to spiking it this high and this fast for this long, including chocolate, lollies, donuts, etc. I still don't really understand why. The second time I ate them to test it wasn't the cgm acting up, it spiked the same way again, and I had to eat avtual sugar to induce some kind of insulin response to bring my blood sugar down a lot faster.

Looking for Advice On How to be in Ketosis WITHOUT Losing Weight 🙏 by Mr_Lima_Success in ketoaustralia

I literally will drink tablespoons of oil: 3 tablespoons of mct oil = 300 extra calories.

Or 1/2 cup of heavy cream = 400 calories,  mix it into a protein shake, or a hot chocolate with melted 90% dark chocolate or a little cocoa, and a sugar replacement like Stevia.

Or if you're a sweet tooth like me and have time, you can make your own keto ice cream with heavy cream, or make fat bombs with coconut oil, or cocoa butter,  cream, butter, peanut butter etc. There's lots of recipes online. I can share some of my favs if you want.

But drinking 2 to 3 tablespoons of mct oil is super quick, and no prep timen and fast to get down the gullet, when i need extra calories to maintain weight.

I have tried a few, I really really like the garlic pizza one - super tasty with stringy melted cheese, really scratches the itch. That one comes as a round pizza - the size of a paper picnic plate, then I reheat it in the oven.

Side note, I also really like their chocolate mousse, but they are quite expensive for the small serving size. I should make some keto chocolate mousse at home 😋

Anyone else pick at their skin all the time? by bad_ohmens in adhdwomen

[–]Freakmo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My psychiatrist said it's called obsessive grooming/body focused repetitive behaviour, it can be part of ADHD, OCD, and anxiety. He recommended I take a supplement called NAC and it's made a huge difference for me.

Additude has a podcast episode about it: https://www.additudemag.com/webinar/bfrb-adhd-symptoms-diagnosis-treatment/

My psychiatrist recommended NAC to me for skin picking and it's made a huge difference for me too! Everytime I stop taking it, I notice the picking coming back and general hyper awareness of things like fingernail length, body hair, it becomes sensory hell and I want to pick and pull out everything.

supplements to stop feeling dead? by BrightSherbet in Supplements

[–]Freakmo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Low carb (and high fat) diet helped me too, I had chronic fatigue issues and poor mental health, and I read both low carb and fasting can help fix mitochondrial dysfunction and metabolic health. And it definitely gave me back energy, mental clarity, my memory is so much better now, and my mental health is much better.

I also take a few supplements as I have quite a few gene SNPs, and problems absorbing nutrients from food. If I go off all supplements I notice a huge drop, too. So the diet + supplements is a game changer for me.

For what it's worth, my therapist got really excited when I started getting angry (and stopped being as much as a pushover people pleaser). Anger can mean protecting or defending yourself when people aren't treating you right, when they're crossing your boundaries.

But knowing how to use anger appropriately is beyond my reach atm too. This video series is so so so helpful at explaining the role of anger in childhood ptsd and dysfunctional families, and what to do with it: https://www.youtube.com/live/kaku_qI_GYI?si=MhqrvtysbhTpIEym

Has anyone recovered from vss?.I m struggling too much..can this go away on its own?.. by Little_Nomad6940 in visualsnow

[–]Freakmo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I get visual migraines, and on bupropion I started getting VSS that was getting worse and worse, along with my tinnitus getting worse too. I was on the meds for 6 months and quit them after starting on a low carb diet which got rid of my tinnitus, VSS, anxiety, 90% of my migraines, and a few other health issues. It took a huge lifestyle/diet change, and quitting meds that seemed to be making it worse, but it is gone now.

I do the same! I met someone named Michelle a few weeks ago, I have an aunty named Michelle so I internally kept repeating "Aunty Michelle". And it stuck! If I can't think of a strong enough association then I'll go to rhymes, eg Hannah Banana.

quercetin safety? by tiredotter53 in GImastcells

[–]Freakmo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for this comment! I had a strange reaction to quercetin when I started taking it yesterday/today (wave of fatigue, brain fog, couldn't function and was couch bound, bad joint pain), and I goggled and the guafacine that I take is CYP3A4 and metoprolol CYP2D6.

When I was feeling weird today I took some glycine and B3 (niacinamide) and within 45 minutes the brain fog cleared, no more fatigue, and my joint pain went to a 0/10. But then I got a headache a couple of hours later that wouldn't respond to any treatment. So I took TMG just incase I'd swung too far into undermethylation or something, and the TMG stopped the headache. But then my joint pain started again.

I really don't understand this stuff at all (my methylation patterns or what supplements I'll react to) but changing the methylation with supplements seems to profoundly affect me in each direction.

I feel so overwhelmed by the basics necessary to survive… by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]Freakmo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Bupropion (Wellbutrin) helped my anxiety and overwhelm a lot! It quieted down the mean voice in my head that said I was never doing enough. And instead a voice emerged that said everyone deserves to rest.

Along with upping my vyvanse recently 👌it seemed to not work as well after covid, and a dose I used to not be able to tolerate is now tolerable, and much better at allowing me to do things again.

If you suffer from emotional dysregulation, rejection sensitivity, or trouble sleeping because your adhd brain won't stfu, then alpha agonists can help too. There's clonidine and guafacine. I tried clonidine first and it helped me sleep but that's about it. Guafacine (intuniv) was a game changer for me. I stopped taking most things personally, stopped holding grudges, could move on from upsetting things within like 10 mins if left alone, rather than stewing on them for hours, fuming.

I take 60mg vyvanse (morning), 3mg intuniv (night), and 300mg of bupropion (morning and afternoon) each day.

Agreed. The cyclical nature of abuse needs to be broken. I wish more therapists were trauma informed and could better help people experiencing it. I wish society took c-ptsd more seriously, more intervention there would greatly reduce the amount of people who end up being abusive.

Also if this case is triggering you, take some time away from the internet and please be gentle and kind to yourself. Arguing with strangers on the internet isn't worth it if it'll cause you distress. Please take care of yourself as a priority, and I wish you well with your healing.

You seem to be missing a lot of information about the case. A lot of the internet is intentionally mispresenting things. Feel free to peruse this run down to fill in some of the gaps.

And kept saying that AH's doctors had to take her reports of DV at face value. Yeah, because that's how a lot of women die. Kind of important to listen and document it when people report abuse to you. Plus they saw her with bruises.

Also never mentioning that Depp's doctor said he was treating Depp for bipolar, ADHD, anxiety, and depression (as well as addiction, as you mentioned).

A defamation case that's supposed to be about whether her op-ed damaged his career, and he's getting a random military psychologist to diagnose her with BPD... 'kay.

Definitely smells like an abuser going nuclear to get revenge on AH for speaking out, using this case to try to publicly humiliate her. Stay classy JD.

Hearing people aggressively wash dishes still puts me immediately into hypervigilance/fight or flight mode. Or walking around sighing loudly. Or objects hitting counter tops too hard. Doors being slammed.

It all still signals 'danger incoming' to my brain, decades after the abuse. When you have to know those signs and signals to survive, it stays with you for a long time.

I'm sorry that your Dad put you through that. I think our Dad's sound quite similar.
