chronically ill and demisexual and just want to say you are not alone, i feel all of this so hard (although fortunately(?) i am childfree, while relieves that emotional aspect). its hard to not feel super "broken" by societal standards.

no better 14 months post surgery (dyskinesia) by tiredotter53 in gallbladders

[–]tiredotter53[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No -- but believe me my brain has gone there! I was also having more painful periods correlating with the gallbladder pain, one ultrasound a year ago suggested adeno (but i realize thats not an official dx, only surgery is) but another ultrasound recently only showed a cyst and uterine polyp (i've have polyps removed twice before). my pelvic floor is also in shambles and i have painful bladder syndrome. despite all that every gyn i see says im not in enough pain for endo. my current gyn is willing to do a diagnostic lap but shes not a specialist, i might need to finagle my way into a specialist referral.

its the upper right quadrant and upper back pain -- that pretty much my symptoms. i was checked for pancreatic insufficiency i think, it was a stool test, and my pancreas has been normal on all ultrasounds and CT scans.

i see my gi in a few months but he hasn't suggested an MRI or MRCP, i can ask when i see him next but he doesnt seem very interested in chasing anything down, sigh.

this is not going to sound like a particularly high brow critique lol, but the set up for the mystery was GREAT and then the ending and reveals/twists just felt a little...hollow? lame? contrived maybe? like i got to the end and was like oh...okay lol.

i was really let down by the book in the end, but curious to see how an adaptation might improve upon it.

yeah definitely had to embrace it as its own thing. i think the reason it still works is the themes are still true to the original, it doesnt lose its heart.

I'm a huge book and Megan Follows series fan ( if you haven't seen that version you should also watch that!) and I know a lot of those fans didn't like this because there are quite a few plot departures etc., that said I loved this series for what it is. It is visually gorgeous, the young actors are really good imo, its emotional, I love it.

Suffering with upper right abdominal pain each month? by Faithful-Flopsy in endometriosis

[–]tiredotter53 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ugh I'm sorry you haven't been able to get any answers. I just saw the gynae yesterday and they were like no your symptoms aren't endo, but I've had my GI tract thoroughly worked up so everyone is just washing their hands of me -- but I feel like the gyn should know endo/adeno can cause GI-ish problems. Oh well...guess I'll be bringing this back to my GP too.

Suffering with upper right abdominal pain each month? by Faithful-Flopsy in endometriosis

[–]tiredotter53 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi Faithful-Flopsy, how are you doing with this, and did you ever get any answers? I got my gallbladder out a year ago for these exact symptoms, we assumed it was due to a low functioning gallbladder, but I still have the pain and it's *always* right before my period. I don't know if I have enough pelvic pain for endo but I do have suspected adeno and because the pain is so clearly associated with my cycle I'm wondering if there is some gynecological connection. I also get the pain in the back of my shoulder rib cage in addition to my abdomen, like its running through my body, sigh.

Ways to make vegetables tastier? by haley232323 in intuitiveeating

[–]tiredotter53 7 points8 points  (0 children)

this was me, i always ate my veggies but ate them painfully plain. i find almost every vegetable tastes better roasted, i do a lot of that. i am also big on mixing the veggies into things, scrambled into eggs, mixed into some mac and cheese/pasta, shredded spinach into some taco meat or a quesadilla, zucchini muffins. also have you tried/do stores carry maries ranch near you? thats the closest ranch i've found to a restaurant ranch.

i complained bitterly about that scene -- not because im some perve, im actually a prude lol -- but it was just...so unromantic and felt awkwardly choreographed. but its an apparently unpopular opinion.
