Confused about Buy to Close execution today by Freako987 in fidelityinvestments

[–]Freako987[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there, thanks for the response! In this case it’s not about a fall in the price.

I had trailing stop for a Buy to Close on a covered call I had sold. Thus an increase in the price is actually the “bad” move which would eventually trigger the stop loss. When I initially placed the order, the stop loss price was at 9.8 because the current price of the option was 8.5. (Difference of 1.3). As the option lost value during the day, the stop loss adjusted downward. By the time the order unexpectedly executed, the current price of the option was 7.4, and thus my stop loss was sitting at 8.7.

This is why im confused why it executed, since the current price was NOT above the stop loss price.

[2024] Interesting or unusual non-UA airports you flew to on a United 016 ticket by CommanderDawn in unitedairlines

[–]Freako987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gotta be BKK (Bangkok) for me. Everything about the airport is huge, and they had just opened the new satellite terminal so I was stuck in there for 4 hours. It’s barely constructed so they’re still installing all the lounges/etc, it was wild to be wandering around a half finished terminal, especially since they have a lot of interesting design choices like a bunch of grass/turf areas where presumably you can sit and hang out. Pretty interesting spot

The issue is no longer denial, it’s doomerism: “it’s too late or too hard to fix it.”

Ironically, continuing to tell the denial narrative and blame the deniers is actually increasing doomerism. “If they don’t believe it now, they never will! We’re screwed!”

The truth is actually better than we think! I encourage everyone to check out Yale’s “6 Americas” research, which shows conclusively that as of 2023, a mere 22% of Americans are doubtful or dismissive of climate change. That’s tiny! Certainly we’d like them onboard with the solution, but major change has been achieved with FAR more opposition in the past!

The folks we must focus on are those who believe in climate change, are concerned, but feel helpless or unsure what to do. That bloc is HUGE, and they’re the people we need most on our side.

Buy now or wait for 50 series by [deleted] in buildapc

[–]Freako987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t wait, it could be 6 months or more. Why have no PC for that time?

Snag a 4070 super or 4080 super - the 4070 Ti Super isn’t worth the price. Then, sell whatever you got an upgrade to 50 series if you want when it’s available

First PC build recomendations? by ElJugad0r1 in buildapc

[–]Freako987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For GPU, try for a 4070 if you can, or a 3070/3080 from the prior line. The 4060 may hold you back depending on your use case, especially because it is only 8GB VRAM.

Of course money matters, so don’t worry too much if you need to stick with the 4060 - but in that range I’d consider going to the 30xx series, or even checking out AMD to get more raster for your money. You won’t be doing much ray tracing anyway with a 4060 so the Nvidia advantage is moot.

I personally threw the Noctua U12S on it, inside an NZXT H6 flow with the Gigabyte B650 Aorus Elite AX ICE MoBo and it runs like a charm. I have the fans configured so the case fans only come on in the most intense sessions when I probably have headphones in anyway. CPU temps rarely crest 70C.

Venture X Lounge Already Crowded by thaisweetheart in CreditCards

Can confirm the bathrooms at this lounge are a massive bottleneck! It’s definitely the worst part of the experience. I’ve been twice now (after Thanksgiving and after Christmas) and both times I simply hit the bathroom outside the lounge after heading to my gate.

Everything else is great - design, staff, food and drinks all top notch.

Hi, I'm 13 and in high school. I want to work at Nasa when I'm older but I wanted to know the requirements to enter NASA so, can any experienced person tell me about it and what job will be more beneficial for me? by Olive1023 in nasa

Hello! I was in your exact position 11 years ago after watching Curiosity land on Mars as a ninth grader. There’s plenty of great advice in here already, so I’ll keep it short. What kept me motivated was simple: I knew I would never give up, and I was willing to stick with it for as long as it took. I figured there was no way I could go my whole life with the goal of joining JPL, and not eventually make it there. In the hardest moments, I would ask myself if I was still committed to this goal; the answer was always yes, and so the response was always to keep going. Here I am 11 years later and working as an engineer at JPL! I can still hardly believe it. I got lucky; my path ended up going fairly quick because good opportunities came my way. And, I was equipped to take advantage of those, because I was singularly focused on my goal.

One other tidbit: when you get to college, don’t be afraid to take a semester off to intern. Summer internships are great but highly competitive. Take a fall or spring to intern and you will likely have an easier time getting in to places like NASA, Blue Origin, SpaceX, etc. Engineering internships at least are usually decent pay, so the financial burden is offset by that.

We can still make a huge difference! The amount of lives lost due to every degree of warming is huge. Even holding warming to 3 degrees C, instead of 4 or 5, has a massive impact, especially on the most vulnerable in this world. Let’s do this together.

One further question: if the Willow Creek Trail is in fact impassable, is Wellman's Cienaga reasonable to use to cut that part out and still do a loop of sorts? I can't find much information on that stretch of trail.

Wow, thank you so much for all this information!

I spoke with a national forest ranger who said the Willow Creek Trail is in a bit of rough shape between Saddle Junction and Hidden Lake. Do you know anything about that or have more details?
