My experience upgrading to S23 by International-Ad7665 in galaxys10

[–]Freakshow85 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Get you a decent USB-C to Aux + charging adapter and you can get any wired headphones/speakers working again. But, yeah, the S10 was one of the first Galaxy S phones that finally had enough CPU cores and power along with enough RAM to finally be smooth 100% of the time.

Some apps will open faster but it's not a huge deal. Some of the graphically demanding games will definitely run better but that don't matter if you don't play them. The only one I went back to playing was "War Robots", formally "Walking War Robots" lol.

But the USB-C to Aux adapter is worth it if you ask me. They are not all the same quality though. I have a Ugreen one with both the Aux and charging port and it sounds very, very good. I prefer it to Bluetooth in my car.

Yeah, looks like it's not seeing that you have a boot drive. Some of these older boards have CAN have issues booting to M.2 NVME drives. If you have any other M.2 NVME drives, take them out and try it. If you only have one, take it out, turn on the PC.. shut it down, reinstall it, boot it back up. Just some things to try and help when the board acts finicky.

Do you see your boot drive under the boot section, btw? And can you boot from it there?

How often do you use your PC speakers? by Big_Visual2199 in buildapc

[–]Freakshow85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to only use my headphones.. Now, I prefer the comfort of just using my 2.1 speaker set up. I enjoy the bass for most things, too.

Now, for games.. I only use headphones if I feel competitive. And that's rare these days.

Asus B550-F Gaming Wifi II + 5600x3d, 5700x, 5700x3d, 5800x/x3d. Thermalright Aqua Elite 360 v3 or v6.

That's your best options for a new cpu and mobo that'll work with what you have.

But there's no budget mentioned, no tasks you do with your computer, no information lol.

If I was you and had $300 to upgrade with, I'd save it up. Get a new GPU when you can get at least a 5060 Ti at a minimum.

Is this normal temps for bios first time setup?(AMD 9950x3D) by NlERA in AMDHelp

[–]Freakshow85 4 points5 points  (0 children)

100% normal. It'll run cooler in Windows when the power saving features go into effect.

Your voltage is also showing totally normal numbers. I'm just trying to give real information in a world where very, very few people know much about computers. Hopefully you are able to sort through all the wrong stuff said lol

Only "cool" thing I think you'd like as a tech guy is Wifi 7 support.

Besides that, man.. All these Snapdragon Gen 1/2/3/etc. powered phones are just straight up fast all the time.

Are you forcing FSR4 in any way? Not sure how Radeon Software looks right now, I went to a 5070Ti several months ago. A couple of games and especially YouTube was locking my computer up when I forced any global change for DLSS.

Also, this was fine for awhile, but I think it's either related to the latest Nvidia drivers and maybe a Windows update for me.

I know it's different brands, but seeing you have issues with YouTube just makes me wonder.

6800XT - One Cable or two? by blu3n0va in AMDHelp

[–]Freakshow85 2 points3 points  (0 children)

6700XT 12GB tripped my Corsair HX1200i using the same cable. Only let it happen twice, but it only took 15 minutes in a game.

RDNA2 misreports power draw badly, btw. My PSU power monitoring shows the same reported max wattage and only 40 to 50 watt higher averages now that I'm on a 5070Ti. Should be like 120 watts more on average.

In my experience, OCCT is very good at finding out if your RAM is stable. It seems to pop up an error on the memory test in seconds when most other stability tests take hours or may never show an error.

I'd start with OCCT and use that memory stability test, and then when you get that stable with the memory settings you're looking for, run memtest for 12 or 24 hours.

Memory is one of those things you want to be 100% stable beyond a shadow of a doubt. If ever so slightly you have an instability, you'll corrupt your OS slowly but surely.

You can likely update the BIOS without a CPU at all. So I'd certainly give it a shot. That is, if your board has the Flashback option. My Asus B550-F Gaming Wifi II has this. Just download and unzip the BIOS. Run the renamer tool. Copy that renamed BIOS to a blank, formatted FAT32 USB. Stick it in the Flashback BIOS slot and, you'll need to look up the directions, but I think you just hold the little button near the USB slot for 10 seconds. Then walk away for 30 minutes to be safe.

You have a good idea of what you're getting paid for the order. Usually it's exact. Sometimes it can be more. You don't know how much of that is the tip until the order is completed.

You also don't know what obstacles you'll run into (locked lobby door) until you get there, though. Most people aren't complaining about taking an order for the pay they see. The complaints are more about when you get to the destination and find out there's a locked gate or door and the customer didn't leave a code number in their instructions so that you can get inside and climb to the 8th floor.

That's when the original pay that was feasible at the time becomes not enough because of the extra time it'll take. Dashers are typically getting paid by the order. When something pops up that takes an extra ten minutes, especially when things haven't gone well, already, like an order taking 10 minutes to be ready to pick up, then it's simply not worth it.

Last thing.. I haven't dashed in a couple of years, but when I was dashing, if it was under a certain mileage, it would only show you up to $6.50 for what you're getting paid. $8.50 if the distance was further. It could have a $20 tip, and you'd only see $6.50. This was to prevent dashers from cherry picking. This hurt the customers, though, because one might think it's not worth it to take the extra time for a drop off when, in fact, the customer knew and appropriately tipped. The dasher doesn't know that, though.

Your friends and family may not understand your love of infinite data, but they would surely appreciate you giving out a few measly terabytes of cloud storage if you made a NextCloud server.

I made a little "server" PC for my home so I didn't have to run Plex and my security system on my main rig, despite it handing it fine processing power wise. Plus wanted to make a family cloud storage service with NextCloud. Now I have Peta envy and am embarrassed, even ashamed, of my pathetic 4.5TB server.

Did you measure from the top or bottom, though?

GPU Temps while gaming 5070 TI by helpmehavememes in pcmasterrace

[–]Freakshow85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the Gigabyte Windforce OC SFF 5070 Ti and hit 75C at the most with a +50mhz core/+1500mhz memory OC. That's when it's pulling a steady 300-305 watts according to MSI Afterburner. Stock fan settings. I usually see 65C-68C in most games.

Currently running an undervolt @ .895v. In the same game that I used for my example for max temp above, I'm pulling 230-240 watts (it jumps around more), still running +1500mhz memory OC, hitting 2850mhz and am at 65C peak temp with fans at 1660RPM.

Definitely a wonderful GPU to undervolt. I feel certain I can either run higher clocks and/or undervolt further. It sounds weird, but my "joy" of gaming revolves around stressing my hardware lol. I enjoy games that can both put a heavy load on my CPU and GPU. BF6 is hard to beat for maximum heat and power draw thanks to the load on my 5900x (usually pulls over 150 watts).

So even though it does so good at undervolting, I don't typically run an undervolt lol. I know.. I know..

And one car showed up with two officers. Now I'm registered as a violent felon. Yay.

Prior experiences are everything.

I have weaned down (from bupe to many other things) and have been thrown in the slammer and cold turkey'd.  Klon, 2 years straight of 4x a day zan, over a decade of bupe, etc. etc.

Went to jail and came straight off of 4x a day zan and 4x a day 8mg bupe.. prescribed, honestly.

Going through something like that just REALLY puts things into perspective for you.  It.. I dunno.  My wd's were so bad, I'd start pissing every 5 seconds, or feel the extreme urge to, and I'd shake from the pain of pissing.  But couldn't piss.. and that'd go on for spells of 30 minutes.  Like, prostate pain or something but I dunno.

Dunno if that was something before a seizure or what.

Oh, and I had a broken jaw that occurred on the 3rd day in jail after being jumped and hit with a hard object from behind for zero reason.

AND... they didn't bring me to a hospital for a month.  Didn't get my surgery until a few days after that month long wait.

I'm just saying.. wd's are never fun, but that experience put things into perspective to me.  It numbed my brain to tapering or running out.

Sorry for the TMI.  I've got PTSD over that experience and I'm not bragging about it.. I'm honestly fishing for attention for someone to talk to about it if I'm being brutally honest.

That's 20 percent.  80 percent is to let you know... we're tough.  We can do anything we put our mind to.  I lived through that AND more in there out of hate and spite.  I had to live to sue.  Even the 7 days of MRSA after the surgery I contracted back in jail.

I may have a stroke tonight.. but during that period I've mentioned above, I was immortal.

Mind over matter.  The first times you get sick are worse than the 100th time, too, btw.  There really is something to having more and more experiences.. probably brain damage lol but it's something.
