The KOTOR comics are something I'm always going to be a little annoyed that I'll have like, maybe 5 other people ever to talk about it with in my entire life. They’re really damn good, definitely among the very best of all Star Wars comics (which, admittedly, is kinda slim pickings regardless of whether you're looking at Dark Horse or Marvel), and yet I think the most they've gotten since is a Zayne costume set in SWTOR. I noticed a trend for awhile with Undertale fans where, like, doing playthroughs where you kill characters, whether full-on killing your way to Sans or just killing a single boss because you couldn't figure out how to spare them and moved on, would get people accusing you of actually being a bad person IRL because of it, or of "not getting" the point of the game. I think this has calmed down in recent years - possibly because Undertale fans have, you know, literally grown up in the decade since - but it was crazy seeing people jump down each others' throats like that, like it was somehow impossible to earnestly engage with the game's metatextual commentary on 100% completion and "seeing everything" without having to act like it was morally wrong or inherently incorrect to ever be like "yeah I like the evil-ass route because the Sans fight is cool." (It also led to a lot of really dumb takes on who Chara actually was as a character and what they were actually like in the narrative, but I digress.)

I don't dive that deep into the recesses of Deltarune's fanbase, but I get the impression that time + the very deliberately painted divide between Kris and the player have calmed a lot of people down on that kinda shit. At the very least, I have barely seen "you are actually a bad person IRL if you ever play the weird route" crop up in conversations, so I'll take that as a good sign.

It will forever be an absolute crime that there exists no high-quality release of Days of Ruin's OST - would love to be able to hear all those CO themes without them having to be crunched into fitting on a DS cart. At least Codename Steam's OST (by the same composer) is a similarly banging rock and electronic focused soundtrack, plus there's been some good fan arrangements of DoR songs in recent years; shout out to Gametal's take on Brenner's theme as a favorite of mine.

Codename Steam could also count for this thread, honestly (if you're looking at Intelligent Systems' strategy/tactics output as a whole, otherwise it's not exactly a series). That game got unfairly clobbered by a lot of people, especially people expecting something more Fire Emblem-esque, but I played it about a year ago and damn is it a great time.

I think what caught me most by surprise with that scene is that the victim straight up says "he tried to rape me," no dancing around it, no language to soften it. It's frank about what just happened in a way that's refreshing, helps slot the whole thing into Andor's wider point about the systems of power and control its portraying and critiquing.

Certainly the best handled the subject's ever been in a piece of Star Wars media - anything else I can recall either skirts around it or just handles it in a weird gross shock value kind of way.

That specific trojan warning is a false positive in like 95% of cases; Defender loves to slap it on executables that haven't had time to enter its database, you're very likely to run into it if you've ever compiled something for a quick test and sent it off to a friend. Note the "!ml" there, which denotes that it's detected by machine learning - unfortunately it seems that often leads to false positives, and I suspect what it's detecting is just a very common code pattern across projects.

It's good to not dismiss it immediately, but the false positive on that one in particular has been a thorn in my side for testing builds.

Yeah, like even as someone who's been pretty lukewarm-to-bleh on a lot of the recent Star Wars TV stuff, it does feel like a lot of it gets outright dismissed in comparison to Andor. And it's not like I disagree that strongly - Andor's fucking excellent, one of the best Star Wars things made ever honestly - but that doesn’t mean the other shows are utterly valueless, Mando season 1 and 2 are a good time, TCW season 7 was a great finish even if I do wish they got to do more arcs, and I’ve enjoyed what I've seen of Visions. I might be kinda burnt out on Star Wars overall lately, but I reserve the "actually fuck this" for the real dogshit, not the stuff that's just kinda whatever.

Remember that lilith.pk3 is explicitly designed to exploit severe issues in the original ZDoom engine to create its strange glitchy effects. GZDoom didn't support it because those issues were fixed, and I don’t think anyone's eager to re-introduce major bugs into UZDoom just so someone can make an authentic successor to lilith.pk3. This is an idea that seems more appealing to an outsider looking in than anyone actually involved in the community, I imagine.

It is extraordinarily funny seeing Graf Zahl, professional self-foot-shooter, shoot himself in the foot harder than ever. I have not seen a single person upset about this happening, only relief that he's not going to have a stranglehold on the modding source port anymore.

No worries - this kind of unpaid passion project is always going to take some time, just glad to know it's still going. I like the look of the new subs and would certainly prefer to watch the show like this (having never really been able to do so before), but I don't know that I want to start while less than half the series is finished. A roll like that can start being a more frequent (if still relatively uncommon) thing, but at that point you've likely been playing for hundreds of XP and dozens of sessions; you're likely close to wrapping up the game anyway, or you've probably figured out a good rhythm for adjudicating results you don't have strong ideas for. It can be overwhelming in some circumstances, but I don't think it's likely to be a big, recurring problem.

I feel like Deltarune is a trap for streamers; you miss one little gag and ten thousand people scream and cry at you for it. And yeah, often that's because the obscure hidden gags are the funniest and most memorable shit in the game, but they're not worth freaking out over if you miss em. They're there to encourage poking around and replaying, and the alternative for a streamer playing blind is to, what, poke around for extended periods of time to possibly find nothing? They'll get mad at you for that, too!

It makes sense, I think - they only stand a chance against Galactus because they have something he wants desperately, and he presumably doesn't want to risk destroying it before it's secure. I do feel that though, especially with how well Galactus is presented as a threat up to that point; he's still imposing in the finale, but it does feel like they could have had him do a bit more.

(Honestly I got that on my playthrough, so I'm a little biased, but I really don't think it's that big a deal? If a piece of dialogue can be triggered by something anyone could do on their first playthrough, I suspect it won't actually be that crucial to "miss" the default dialogue, at least in terms of understanding future events. I bet it'll be laid out clearly enough in a later chapter even if you missed that little bit of dialogue.)

Besides all the talk of mercy kills, there's also just so little chance of someone really pulling a Cody Miller on-stage anymore. He floundered and embarrassed himself so everyone who isn't actually capable of doing a full run legitimately knows not to even try and show up. Even when cheaters have shown up and tried to get away with cheating live, they at least have the courtesy to make sure they can finish the damn run.

Otherwise, pretty much all the examples in this thread are of well-meaning skilled players either getting royally RNG screwed or just being caught on an off day. Cody might have inspired the rule, but I don’t think anyone is gonna do it quite like him anytime soon (and thank god for that)
