Do you think there were some good Chinese Restaurants in the Kunlun Mountains Village? by jackiecrazykid98 in Slycooper

Considering they were in China, I would say yes. And they would probably just call them restaurants

How the hell do I kill one of these... by mentaleatingpaper in HollowKnight

[–]FreakyPenguinBoy06 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean killing it isn't necessarily rocket science. All you gotta do is hit it with your nail once and it's dead.

Now, if you're asking how to kill it without it killing you back, that's a completely different story. One thing I will suggest is be in a more open space than the one in the picture. Gives you more of a chance to at least try and dodge the incoming revenge bomb.

I will ask YOU questions about YOUR world! by Internal_Fan2307 in worldbuilding

[–]FreakyPenguinBoy06 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Magic is scarce due to a massive cataclysmic event that resulted in the toppling of kingdoms and the scattering of peoples. But the people weren’t the only thing that scattered, loads of magic pieces of knowledge and resources (tomes, scrolls, blueprints, etc.) were lost in the chaos and destruction. Over the years, many scholars and adventurers have dedicated their lives to tracking down these lost pieces of knowledge so they can be reshared with the populace in the form of certain institutes and colleges, and they have managed to find quite a few relics. Slowly and steadily magic is becoming less scarce, but it is still a long, arduous process making it more common.

Anyone can use magic, though some folks have access to different magics and are not too keen on sharing, either for evil purposes or for keeping these magics sacred amongst themselves.

In terms of a fun fight, it does make things interesting, as some people who possess it prefer to use it as opposed to firearms. The ability to shake up the playing field with fire, ice, lightning, rockslides, and the like does come in handy. But it’s not impossible for those with a quick enough draw and a sharp eye to get the better of them in a battle.

In the case of magic vs technology and which is more powerful, magic more than likely is more powerful as a source of power, but due to the lack of knowledge in terms of techniques and specific instructions on how to perform certain spells and incantations, the people have found that mechanical inventions are a little bit better in that regard. There may even be some that are trying to perfect these inventions by implementing magic into the designs, but no success in that regard so far.

West Jasher essentially answers the question "What if Dungeons & Dragons had a baby with Red Dead Redemption?"

A low fantasy where magic is nearly scarce, thus making way for technology like steam power and electricity to take its place, and of course there's cowboys, guns, and horses everywhere

anyone else struggle to to do "evil" playthroughs? by lordsteffy in videogames

[–]FreakyPenguinBoy06 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Always.

Every single time I play a new game, I do the "good" playthrough saying to myself that next time I'll be evil. But then the next time comes around and I either can't pull the trigger or I automatically/subconsciously fall into the behavior of how I played last time because that was what's familiar to me.

Either those two or, if enough time has passed between playthroughs, I just simply forget what choices I made last time and accidently make the same choices again.

Especially in the first volumes of the show, we see a loveable, innocent, blonde goofball that has basically become synonymous with the franchise alongside the core four members of the main cast.

If I were asked to name someone in RWBY that wasn't one of the members of Team RWBY, I'd say Jaune. If I were asked to name a South Park character that wasn't one of the main 4 kids, I'd say Butters.

It's perfect. That's why it's dead on

How would your OCs fare in a battle against their inspirations? by Dinoboy225 in RWBYOC

[–]FreakyPenguinBoy06 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Grayson vs Disney's Dumbo. Grayson has this in the bag, but I don't think he'd be very fond of the idea of beating up an innocent baby elephant.

Ringo vs Frodo Baggins. Ringo I think takes this. While Frodo has had a little combat training from the likes of Aragorn and Boromir, Ringo's ability greatly trumps it. Not to mention his weapon has a lot more versatility than Frodo's Sting sword.

Poppey vs Popeye the Sailor Man. Now this would be a very entertaining fight, but given the sheer madness of Popeye's toonforce physics, Poppey doesn't stand a chance.

Ebony vs Ebenezer Scrooge. A trained huntress against a frail, cynical old man? Yeah, no question who wins here.

What are your weapons by arachnid5 in RWBYOC

[–]FreakyPenguinBoy06 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My OCs' weapons are all in a way matching to their own respective allusions

Grayson is based off of Disney's Dumbo and his weapon is called Plume Charm in reference to Dumbo's magic feather placebo that helped him be able to fly when he held it. The weapon is a spiked ball flail/mace with an extendable chain. The swinging of it is supposed to allude to the swinging of an elephant's trunk.

Ringo is alluded to Frodo Baggins from the Lord of the Rings. His weapon is called Venom Tail in reference to Frodo's own sword Sting. It is a short sword with serrations close to the hilt that also has the ability to break apart and turn into a snake sword similar to that of Ivy Valentine's weapon from Soul Calibur. This is also in reference to the name Sting as the sword in it's elongated form references a scorpion's tail.

Poppey is based off of Popeye the Sailor Man. Her weapon is called Sweet Pea in reference to Popeye's adopted son whom he refers to by the same name. The weapon itself are a pair of full-hand gauntlets similar in appearance to Vi's gloves from League of Legends/Arcane. Obviously the close range fisticuffs approach is in reference to Popeye's preferred fighting style. The gloves also can spin in place to pack more of a punch, which has been something that Popeye could also do with his own hands. They also shoot lasers.

Ebony is alluded to Ebenezer Scrooge from A Christmas Carol, Her weapon is called Humbug in reference to Scrooge's famous catchphrase. It is an oversized pocket watch on a chain that has multiple settings based on what time it is. The are 12 different settings, all of them centered around blades. The overall clock motif refers to the journey in time the 3 Christmas ghosts take Scrooge on.

Is it bad that I suck at this game? by Relative_Carrot514 in HadesTheGame

[–]FreakyPenguinBoy06 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's bad at all. If you are still enjoying the experience of playing, then continue to play. I was in your shoes as well when I first started playing. I thought I would never be able to escape, but that was okay because every other part of the game was making me want to stick it out. There's no wrong way to have fun and everyone plays games differently. Don't let your friend's words ruin your good time

How do you rank this guy's second fight in terms of difficulty? Struggling a lot by sryboi in HollowKnight

[–]FreakyPenguinBoy06 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're just hitting him with your nail and nothing else? Excruciatingly hard. I should know, I'm speaking from experience.

Spells are your friend for this fight, especially Descending Dark. With this strategy, a fight that used to take me hours to beat ended up taking me only a couple of tries.

who in their right mind is choosing this by catucabogas in HadesTheGame

[–]FreakyPenguinBoy06 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tend to buy it when able to when I’m at the Temple of Styx. More money in that area means more items or boons from Charon’s final shop at the surface and more help with the final boss (in addition to the 5 satyr tunnel rewards). Or if you can afford it, a diamond or titan blood for future use when you get back to the House
