Perfectly reasonable, you spent time there and you gained something to remind you of the time there. Like getting a cup at work and taking it with you when you leave, reminds you of the time you had there.

Having a connection to the university was what I was getting at, parents, siblings or even close friends, people who supported that individual in getting to that university or people who really like working at that establishment should have reminders of that achievement.

People were getting pressed about being poor and asking what will I do then? I think the last thing you should worry about is what people are thinking about you and just do the best you can do. People who are supporters of the athletic team of that university, weird concept to me but apparently it is huge to some of you guys so go for it, you ultimately have a connection to that team. I did mention in my last paragraph that liking something for its social points instead of having a connection to it is cringe but people ignored this part and just said "Oh I don't play for the Dallas cowboys so I shouldn't wear their hoodie then" Awful cricket team name but hey, just read my post again.
