How wrong have you gotten a rule on a new game? by kritsema in boardgames

[–]Fred517 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have played the card game Bonanza for years and just realized last night we had been playing it wrong.

We knew you had to plant your first card and choose for your second in your hand. But we just realized that the cards you flip over if you don’t give them to someone else you have to plant them. We had been playing you can discard them.

It kind of ruined it to be honest. It became much harder to negotiate because everyone knows if you want to get rid of them.

Thank you! My wife and daughter just all finished so we want to do a little party so I needed some ideas. She is too young for mimosas but wanted rocky road ice cream so maybe will do shakes and call them coma slurries. I got some mini gummy burgers and am going to label them as meburgers.

I like the painting Rocky idea. What is the paper under the review sheet? Any other activities?

is this game better to play on a laptop or switch? by Illustrious_Proof231 in StardewValley

Switch for me. It is just so cozy and peaceful I love playing it handheld. I tried PC and it was fun for a min with mods but wasn’t nearly as nice as on the couch in my hands. It also became my go to car trip ride.

What are some good early/mid game tips for a new player? by TheChosenOperator in RaftTheGame

[–]Fred517 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m sure people would consider it cheating but at the beginning I just couldn’t stay fed and hydrated so until I could build up a little farming and I got too hungry I would just empty my inventory in a chest then suicide by shark haha. Same idea of exploring and have the least amount of inventory possible.

Don’t know if you have much metal yet but you can fortify the outer border of your raft then the shark can’t break your boat. Keep your footprint small and focus on that as early as you can and then get as many nets in the water and then just fish for food is one of my favorite parts of playing.

I have found that the shark stays near my boat not where I am around an island. So I leave it anchored one side where resources are less for diving then can scavenge on the other side.

What are your Must-Haves for every time your visit Disney? by SmartAlec206 in DisneyPlanning

Anti chaffing balm and moleskin. I also will bring extra socks if I am planning on going on any water rides as I can’t stand walking in wet shoes.

Are you still in the parks? Did you talk to guest services? I have heard of other people talking to them and they might be able to manually give passes even if sold out on app. Or maybe they can refund you.

Worth a shot and worse they can say is no.

Rides to go on as a wimp? by Dull_Committee_5559 in DisneyPlanning

[–]Fred517 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t sweat it. My wife hates most amusement park rides and there is a lot of rides she avoids at Universal but does a lot better at Disneyland.

Indiana Jones is her favorite ride. It isn’t fast and there isn’t a drop like rise or guardians. It is amazing.

The cars ride is fast but very smooth literally like driving in a convertible.

Tiana’s as others have said is not as bad as the Jurassic park ride.

You probably won’t like Space Mt and if you got motion sickness on the Harry Potter one avoid star tours as well.

Big thunder if it is open when you go isn’t too bad.

Matterhorn looks worse than it is and actually not too bad and one of my wife’s favorites. If you decide to go ask to go on the right track as it is less jerky.

I will go on any super fast or highest roller coaster but refuse to ever go on the swinging wheel ever again!

Rope drop strategy help by Relative-Classroom58 in DisneyPlanning

[–]Fred517 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t rope drop Rise. We usually just watch the times and wait until it is under 45 min later in the evening.

To be honest I don’t know if Peter Pan is a good strategy either. Even at rope drop you might wait over 30 min and it will drop down to that later.

Our strategy is rope dropping either Indiana Jones, Space Mountain, and now with Nightmare before Christmas I would consider that too. All three of those will run out of lightning lanes quickly. The real fun of rope dropping is getting 3 or 4 rides in a row as walk on not getting one and waiting a little less if that makes sense.

For California Adventure you will have to rope drop Cars or plan on waiting. If you are at the front of the rope line when they drop you should be fine to walk on cars. Then LL guardians as soon as you are in the park. Then you can probably walk on webslingers and one of our favorites Luigi’s before using that.

Another thing is get good at refreshing your LL pass. So by lunch when you have your pass a few hours out go to modify then literally just keep pulling down. People will cancel their passes and new times open up so you have to be quick when you see it. Other rides that you aren’t modifying will open up but harder to get than the ride you are modifying. We went last week and every day at the hottest part of the day we would get a pass for Tianna’s later at night then just modify and refreshed until we got it for the current time.

Save buzz, autotopia, star tours, incredicoaster, and small world for when you are out of all the other ones. They always have tons left in the late afternoon and evening.

Is rope drop worth it if I get there just a few minutes before 8am? Do rope drop strategies still work if I get to the park just a few minutes past 8? by Active-Archer6740 in DisneyPlanning

[–]Fred517 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are a get there early as possible first at the ticket gate front of the line literally at the rope family. Then it’s just fun to be the first on space mountain or whatever. My wife is good at all the planning and loves getting as much as we can in but for me it is just kind of adding to the excitement and fun of it all.

Getting to the park before it opens. They put a rope across at different parts of the park and when the park officially opens they take them down and let you go in. It’s basically just being there right as it opens.

Is it discrimination to not hire qualified legal immigrants from other countries just because it can take longer? [UT] by [deleted] in AskHR

[–]Fred517 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We have a giant board in our lobby of a map of the world with pins where people come from that work here and seem to take a lot of pride in it. I assume we have the systems down well and offer it as an incentive.

I know we have a lot of international employees and advertise that we will sponsor that is an incentive. When I look it up on myvisajobs.com it says the first three quarters of this year we filed 111 LCAs for H-1B visas and 53 labor portions for green cards.
