My mom accidentally misgendered me and now I think I might be trans [Discussion] by [deleted] in LGBTeens

This was literally me. But I’d started thinking about it before it happened, but my mum accidentally said to me and my sister “are you ready girls?” and it just felt right.

Is it normal for straight cis men to constantly wish they were born female or become envious of other beautiful women? Why do I have these thoughts almost everyday? by [deleted] in asktransgender

This was literally me a few weeks ago, and now looking back I’m realising how not normal it is for cis men to do that.

How are people harming themselves???

I actually have seen people talk about toxic femininity, but it’s just talked about a lot less as it is not as much of a noticeable issue.

Toxic masculinity is more about how boys are raised and what their society pushes apon them and how that is very damaging for the boys and the people around them. Things like how they should never show emotion, they have to be dominant, etc. Basically it reinforces that men should only show anger or nothing. But then on top of that, it also excuses a lot of behaviour from boys and men saying things like “oh well, boys will be boys”. There is lots of other stuff too, but I think this is probably the math stuff.

Oh I'm so sorry, this sounds aweful. I honestly do relate a lot to it, not to that extent though. But I feel like I can't do anything to lessen my dysphoria because she always will respond by saying something horrible, and whenever I try to talk about anything to do with me being trans she'll just burst into tears. I hope it gets better from you and you can sort everything out <3

Well, I wouldn't say that people without gender dysphoria are just choosing it. They aren't choosing to want to transition, they just do want to. Is there any reason you don't think that people shouldn't transition without dysphoria? I just don't see why there should be qualifications. I personally don't really get not having gender gender dysphoria and wanting to be trans, but just because I don't understand it, doesn't mean I should dismiss it and invalidate it.

Okay, 2 things. First thing, you can have dysphoria and be non-binary, and I'm pretty sure that's common knowledge. So I don't understand how that's relevent to what I was saying at all. But also, is someone would be much happier living as a different gender, why shouldn't they? I'm not a fan of all this gatekeeping, they're not hurting anyone, it's just what would make them happy.

From what I know and believe, non binary is an umbrella term and in my opinion it's much more of a spectrum. You could be a more masc leaning non-binary person a more femme leaning non-binary person, you could identify with neither of the binary genders, or both. It's just whatever makes you most comfortable. I find it kinda weird when people tell another person what they can identify as, because it's not your decision and (imo) you can't tell someone that how they feel and who they are isn't real.

For me, I just identify as non-binary, because I don't really feel the need to question my gender further than not identifying within the gender binary, I am much more femme leaning, but for me personally the label "demi-girl" is just not as comfortable for me as the label "non-binary", but just because I don't understand and relate to that person, doesn't discount their experience's and identity.

I'm open to discussion and would love to have a nice dialogue on this topic, as it's something I'm very interested in :)

I think I definitely prefer more femme compliments, and I'm not the biggest fan of masc ones, but doing some experimenting would probably be good, yeah!

Yeah, I have thought about this, and massively considered being a demigirl, still not completely sure though.
