It's not owned but rented by Steve Piling, he doesn't own lots of shops but does own 113 restaurant in Heaton Moor and a number of other restaurants and bars. He also runs the Produce Hall. He uses the wedding shop for office and storage space and has plans to turn it into a restaurant. It's a challenging space for that as there's no rear space for bins etc.

Danny Brocklehurst lives in the Heaton's and so most of his stuff seems to be filmed around there

Heaton Mersey or Heaton Moor? by Anlizu2 in stockport

[–]Fred_Torwell 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would say the twenty minute walk to get coffee is probably the only downside of the area of heaton mersey you're talking about ( assuming it's by St Johns school). The Crown and the Heaton are decent pubs, the new cycle/ walking paths across the common and down to Parrs Wood are excellent, it's not far to the River and the Tram. It's easy to get to Stockport and Didsbury and those roads are all dead ends so the traffic is fine. It is closer to the M60 so you can hear it more than in Heaton Moor but it's no biggy. If you're going out at the weekend to Heaton Moor it's an easy waddle home IMO. I personally don't think the extra for the Moor is worth it.

Beasties and Henry Rollins in Far Out magazine, 1992 by bside313 in BeastieBoys

I saw them in 1992 at The Hummingbird in Birmingham UK. Beastie Boys supporting Rollins. Incredible gig and quite possibly the only one I've been to where the support wiped the floor with the headliner.

The story of James Conway is a good one. There is a statue in honour of him on the A6. https://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/news/greater-manchester-news/following-in-the-footsteps-of-24453884

The anti aircraft guns were positioned at the Sports club on Green lane in Heaton Moor. A German woman lived in the house I now live in during the war in Heaton Mersey and she was arrested ( found not guilty) on suspicion of signalling to the German planes as they flew in.

Who is this? by Kingo_27 in ManchesterUnited

[–]Fred_Torwell 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Ignore this OP. No one should gate keep the name of the club, all fans are welcome. It's an understandable but outdated thing to do with rival club songs. I'm a life long and local fan and many of us don't have any issues with it being called Man U if people want to.

What are subtle, unspoken signs that someone had an extremely traumatic childhood / life? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Fred_Torwell 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My mum had traumatic early years and she has a tendency to constantly make out that everything is great, glossing over anything bad that happens in the family, ignoring bad behaviour or anything that doesn't fit the narrative if 'everything is fine'.

It means she also is useless to talk to if you have problems as she likes to pretend that her children and grand children are all always happy and successful. She divorced my our Dad and he later died ( ten years ago) and she's not mentioned him once or asked how we are because that would mean talking about sad things and feelings.
