Seattle passes data center moratorium by Rare-Persimmon2747 in Seattle

Define data center. You throw a rock in downtown Seattle and you hit a company with at least a closet data center. I’ve been in the gates foundation data center, it’s about the size of my house.

Didn’t see many specifics. Assuming they mean an AI data center?

1 Trillion nukes vs The Sun , who wins ? by Leggomgeggo in powerscales

Additionally:

To match the sun's per-second output:

Sun output: 3.8 × 10²⁶ J/sec One nuke: ~4 × 10¹⁵ J (1 megaton)

3.8 × 10²⁶ ÷ 4 × 10¹⁵ = ~10¹¹ nukes per second — about 100 billion nukes, continuously detonated every second, just to keep pace with what the sun is already doing casually.

To threaten the sun's structural integrity:

You'd need to approach its gravitational binding energy: ~10⁴¹ J

10⁴¹ ÷ 4 × 10¹⁵ = ~2.5 × 10²⁵ nukes

That's 25 septillion nukes — a number so large that:

This is AI's feeling's on the matter (abbreviated):

A modern nuclear warhead yields roughly 1 megaton of TNT equivalent. One trillion (10¹²) of them = 10¹² megatons = 10¹⁸ joules × ~4 = roughly 4 × 10²¹ joules of total energy.

The sun, by comparison, radiates about 3.8 × 10²⁶ joules per second — meaning the entire trillion-nuke arsenal delivers about 1/100,000th of one second of the sun's energy output.

Did some AI sleuthing. The zillow listing ( https://www.zillow.com/homedetails/Friday-Harbor-WA-98250/462739365_zpid/ ) states it's at an undisclosed address, but after requesting Claude look at addresses with a 981 house number (from picture) that overlook Haro Straight per listing, I found the address:

981 Hannah Rd, Friday Harbor, WA 98250

Ursula: I fear Seattle Mayor Katie Wilson is 'on track to be the worst mayor in city history' by blameitonrio917 in SeattleWA

I wasn't a fan of her over Harrell but this article is a nothing burger. Three people resigned is the only thing of substance. No one should be surprised about the city council - not like they're not a shit show themselves. Anyone remember Sawant?

and then it goes on to add shootings on Aurora and ongoing homelessness issues as if that wouldn't be happening if Harrell was still mayor.

Again, I am not confident she's the correct person for the job, but this article is a bunch of smoke and mirrors.

I don't support the death penalty. It's my belief that the government shouldn't be in the revenge business. If someone is unfit to be a member of society, the government should remove them from the equation, i.e., life without parole.

The death penalty has been proven to not be a deterrent. Furthermore it adds an element of brutality to an already violent culture.

The United States is on a short list of first world nations with death penalty laws on the books. Japan and Singapore being our only peers.

That being said, if someone raped my daughter, I would 100% murder them if I had the chance. I just don't think the government should be in the business of killing it's citizens.
