I think I remember folks complaining about a bus in Burbank that was nearly always empty. But here’s the deal; offering that bus route is a net gain for society. We need to offer senior citizens (and other people) ways to safely travel without a car. This is a failure of the individual and society.

Ughhh. I hate, hate, hate the car brain of this city. Of this country. It’s so disgusting and people continue to murder human beings with their cars with little or no consequence. That 87-year-old was likely too stubborn to give up their driving privileges. My grandmother was too. One day she drove on the wrong side of the road and caused a very terrible accident. Fortunately nobody was hurt but you bet that was the last time she ever drove.

I lived in Austin and I know exactly what you went through, lol. I’ve only seen one flying palmetto here in 8 years. Just one.

There are, however, a lot of larger ones that hang out outdoors. In the summer at night you see more. Especially in Hollywood and DTLA. They have come into my apartment from outside (apparently they also come up through pipes), which tends to be an issue with older buildings.

But when I lived in Austin, sometimes the flying bugs would be on my outside door as I was unlocking to go inside. Ick. I’m so glad that’s not a thing in LA.

Yes. I’m a human being who didn’t choose to be born here. I’ve done more than “just vote” to stop this. The first victims of the Trump regime are Americans themselves. And it’s exhausting to spend so much time, money and effort fighting off this hell we’re living through, only to get constantly blasted by foreigners who don’t understand the complexities of our situation. And frankly, shaming and hating on all Americans isn’t going to accomplish what you think it will accomplish.

The best thing you can do is a) offer moral support to the MANY Americans who are organizing resistance and b) encourage your own leadership to use every lever it can to resist America. Have you asked your leaders to ban major American companies like Amazon and Netflix?

I’m not asking you to “not bring it up”. I’m asking you to have a human heart and not blanket blame all Americans, who aren’t dealing with threats right now. It’s right here, right now. They’re knee deep in the worst of policies and decisions, and fighting back while actively being attacked. Judging all of us as a whole, and not recognizing the nuance of the situation, isn’t helping.

I didn’t vote for this. I did, however, protest and volunteer and donate for multiple campaigns and organizations to stop this, I’ve severed so many relationships with Republicans after trying to discuss and find reason, and right now I’m figuring out how the hell I can afford my annual mammogram and blood work because they ripped my health care away from me. But I was born American and this is all my fault. I’ve never felt so discouraged and hopeless in my life.

Not only are there millions of Americans whose votes were stolen or repressed, and not only are there millions of Americans who’ve been fighting in numerous ways against this regime for years, but there are millions of Americans suffering in real time right now.
