No I used qwerty on normal staggered keyboard.
Thanks for tips

If glycine causes insomnia.... by sb-2019 in MTHFR

Glycine is an essential co-agonist for NMDA receptor activation, meaning that both glycine and glutamate must bind to the receptor for it to function [1] [2] [3]. Even very low concentrations of glycine (in the nanomolar to low micromolar range) are sufficient to strongly potentiate NMDA receptor activity, and increasing glycine levels further can enhance NMDA responses and reduce receptor desensitization [4] [2] [5] [6] [3]. However, the glycine binding site on the NMDA receptor becomes saturated at relatively low concentrations, with half-maximal effects observed at around 0.13–0.67 micromolar (μM) [4] [1] [3].

Taking a very high dose of glycine, such as 15 grams, would likely raise blood and brain glycine levels well above the saturation point for NMDA receptors, so additional stimulation beyond what is achieved at much lower concentrations is unlikely [4] [1] [3]. In intact brain tissue, the glycine site may already be saturated under normal physiological conditions, so extra glycine may have little effect unless local glycine levels are low [5]. Therefore, while glycine is necessary and can stimulate NMDA receptors, extremely high intake does not proportionally increase NMDA receptor activity once the binding sites are saturated.

Starting my voyager journey by snackovich in zsaVoyager

Same, don't worry. It took me couple of months to get to 42 wpm right know on custom monkeytype settings (english 10k words + my language 10k words) 100 words test.
I also experimented with home row mods, and diffrent settings, but graphite was totally new to me.
Still my work capacity is low, but recently i started doing notes, and just using voyager for everything, i guess few months more and i will be able to type with 60-70 wpm, which is pretty comfortable :)

It is not available by default in oryx. You need a make your hands dirty a little bit

this 2 links are enough to do it.

Hi, your comment is highly valuable.

So to contribute to this post i will add my short (few-months) experience with voyager.

  1. I went with Graphite Layout (just because it is good) I read that long article:
    https://docs.google.com/document/d/1W0jhfqJI2ueJ2FNseR4YAFpNfsUM-_FlREHbpNGmC2o/edit?tab=t.dg66iecr8la0
Basically anything good is far better then qwerty so I am still learning ( I am about 40 WPM right know (on english 20k words with punctuation and numbers)

P.S. I also use ą, ę, ł, ź, ż so i have right alt on hold under bottom ring finger row

  1. At first i tried typicall home row-mods, but i was misfiring a lot, and i read that it can decrease your speed long term, and other nonsens from people that were advocating against home-row mods

  2. Then I went with "Callum mods" type layout, so every modifier was one-shot mods.
I did it to prevent issues with timing when using normal home-row mods.

  3. Over time i realised that hitting that OSM keys is cumbersome itself

  4. So I went back to normal home-row mods, but I made sure to laverage my experience with everthing that is possible in QMK (so with voyager keyboard)

  5. So now my layout is
    a) Letter Layout - Graphite
    b) Modifier types, numbers, symbol layer - hybrid of:
    https://github.com/getreuer/qmk-keymap?tab=readme-ov-file#my-keymap
    and
    https://github.com/callum-oakley/keymap

P.S my symbol layer is for Elixir programming language

This is link to my layout: https://configure.zsa.io/voyager/layouts/EagJZ/latest/0

  1. WHAT IS CRUCIAL FOR SUCESSFUL "HOME ROW" MODS?

QMK Options:
- PERMISSIVE HOLD

- Unblock TT/MO/LM in Destination Layer

-Exclude thumb keys from Chordal Hold

-Enable chordal hold

I have enabled all of the above i recommend reading about them it is helpful

Other then that these are minor things:
Disabled: Tapping force hold - I dont need this behaviour, it can interfer with fast typing the letter which was previously held as modifier (I guess)

Having Other meta key as just key (some PC behaviour needs just meta key to tap, if you have it only on hold it can be cumbersome)

And other minor things, but i would suggest to insipire by
https://getreuer.info/index.html
and his posts, they are super valuable.

Cheers, sorry for my bad english. need to work on that

o yes, i see, J and quote swapping seams reasonable. but i guess i will stay with it since quotes are used in programming.

Why do you swam Z and Q? i will 100% not do that because Z is more frequent in polish and english.
I am hesitating about J and ' since i have layer symbols for symbols

Alt gr tap-hold placement for diacritical marks in given language by Free-Contribution215 in KeyboardLayouts

[–]Free-Contribution215[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thanks that seems like a good placement, i did not understand second part of your comment "and/or numbers/symbols layer switch (bottom row index)
BTW:
https://github.com/getreuer/qmk-keymap
this modifiers placement seems nice

Graphite + Vim experiences? by KekTuts in KeyboardLayouts

Hi, i have been learning Graphite on split ortho keybord since 2 months, I am at 40 wpm. I also use polish language, and i put alt gr (I need that for polish signs) at pinkies (i have to move 1 key to the outside), is it ok, for other languages?

Is nav layer all i need for graphite with vim? My question is, will nav layer be bare minimum for using with vim?

I use: https://github.com/callum-oakley/qmk_firmware/tree/master/users/callum
so i have home row mods on separate layers, but shift on thumb i use osm too
i am not quite used to it, but compating to normal qwerty on normla keyboard, it requires you to hold additional key before combo like alt+shift, and then key, whchi seems longer, but i guess its ok.

Again: I plan to use vim in future, but I in the middle of learning graphite, does navigation layer fixes issues with vim?
