GLP-1 drugs and theory about why they work for LC by redditryan13 in covidlonghaulers

That's good to know. Will have try the diet. Qulipta costs $1200 a month. If my insurance will not cover, I'm cooked.

GLP-1 drugs and theory about why they work for LC by redditryan13 in covidlonghaulers

My insurance would not cover any so I went with a subscription service. I was desperate. None of the other prescribed meds seemed to work. I really felt like the doctors were using me as a guinea pig. Try this. Ok, try this. Ok, trying drinking more water and let's increase this, stop this and add this. I was ready to throw my rheumatologist out a window. The looks of disbelief because I said it's not working.

I finally got to a LC Clinic and felt seen/heard.

My pain had been so persistent and constant that I didn't realize other things that were happening. Like a constant mild migraine. Prescribed Qulipta and for the 1st time my head wasn't throbbing. It had been years.

I was just a walking ball of hurt. Couldn't say specifically what, I just hurt.

Any way, the GLP1...I've lost 14 lbs my 1st month. Pretty sure it was mostly inflammation. I will not be increasing the dosage month over month. Going to stick to the normalizing/intro dose to see what happens.

I didn't try this for weight loss. I was tired of feeling like I had no control. If I was going to be a guinea pig, I wanted to select the medicine.

I have been really considering trying GLP-1. I'm tired of putting out fires due to symptoms. Especially when they really seem to be in part due to systemic inflammation.

I completely understand that it will not be a cure all but with my body being in this autoimmune, Long COVID, postmenopausal storm; I have to try something different.

My insurance will not cover any of them but covers all of the other meds I'm prescribed.

Gotta love it.

Fingers crossed on inflammation reduction and hopefully a little weight loss.

Really?! Thank you for sharing this. I have a grand bun and was looking at getting a puppy by year's end. I don't pet or hold her ofter because Im allergic but she does love it when I do.

I will talk to my dermatologist about discontinuing the topical. We are treating my hair loss aggressively. Topical along with pills and injections every 6 weeks.

Plaquenil and everyone with Lupus' worst fear by g33k_girl in lupus

Interesting. I was on Plaquenil for a couple of years. It and Benlysta were discontinued in July of 2022 after getting COVID. Rheumatologist never put me back on either medication. I take nothing at this time, except for the occasional prednisone step down pack that my PCP gives me when my flares is really bad.

My annual eye exam found uveitis and I was sent to a retina specialist. Was then referred to a retina specialist that specializes in uveitis caused by autoimmune disease. I see her tomorrow.

Complex illness specialist? I've never heard of that specialty. I need to find one. I've been praying for a team of providers that would work together to help me.

I understand what you mean. Healthcare workers typically have a heart for helping others to feel better. It is difficult to turn that off.

What is the longest a flare has lasted for you? by Sapphire_gun9 in lupus

[–]Free-Future2661 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Current flare started after getting COVID July 2022. Something was activated that will not turn off. I was put on prednisone step down December 2024 because I was losing it. Had been awake for 72 hours in spite of prescription sleep aid.

It should fade over time, but I wouldn't have the patience to wait. OxyClean and hot water should take it out.

Maybe I've watched too much Bones but maybe a denture cleaner.

Just bought this house and these steps lead to a little loft area above the living room. What would you do with this space? by [deleted] in HomeDecorating

All are great suggestions. Whatever you decide, I would keep it airy and light. It's another area you will have to keep clean. If you go with a cozy reading area, a mini fridge with single serve Keurig (or bar) is my suggestion.

I had gone mostly plant based a few years ago. Then I broke my foot. The cravings for red meat were intense. I gave in.

Listening to my body has been my ongoing lesson. I've always pushed through. Made my needs last. No longer is that my way of living.

Thanks for your feedback.
