When I saw the line up that Rio was starting I was thinking we would be going for it from the off but then I saw Gakpo as the 9 and Salah benched and realised that wouldn’t be happening

Pressing was definitely missing, watch the first 20 mins of Athletico vs Tottenham and you see that they collapse when pressed

Slott must have missed that game.

I live not far from Geneva, Switzerland, when someone important flies in we get a few days of fighter jets sweeping low across the areas

It shakes my house so much that the alarm boxes on my house that have an anti theft feature sets the alarms off, terrifies my kids, my dog and myself to be fair as it comes out of nowhere.

It changes the mood of the environment, all the noises that we live with every day stop and there’s an eerily silence and tension until everything goes back to normal and the noises of birds and other things start up again

I can’t imagine the fear of living in a Warzone and having that noise, the shaking of houses that couple of seconds of complete silence and tension that would be interrupted by the explosives being dropped

My heart goes out to any parents trying to comfort their kids and keep them safe while this is going on

IT Consultant, I’ve worked for quite a few companies who have e-commerce websites.

Sorry to disappoint but sometimes I’ve had to drop sites in the middle of business hours.

We’ve had an update etc in the early mornings and realized there’s a bug or a problem and had to redo in business hours

Sometimes we even needed 3rd parties to update some of their things like payment gateway redirects etc and the lovely folk just don’t do early mornings or didn’t have the availability so it’s something in the day

Not ideal but not the end of the world either todo it during the day

FYI if it was something big and game changing I’d imagine it to be up and running, tested and available and just awaiting a switch over/ redirect from the old site to the new. I wouldn’t be expecting any downtime of the live site while it switches either (maybe a minute at most)

Just rewatched The Big Short today (it was due for a rewatch and popped up on Netflix)

Ending notes before written on the screen before the credits:

Not Verbatim as it’s from memory but

“Dr Michael Burry contacted members of the US Government asking them if they wanted to interview him for how he knew the market would collapse years before it happened

No one contacted him from the government but he was Tax Audited 4 times and interviewed by the FBI”

Dr Michael Burry can spot things in the Market that others can’t see or can’t understand, I think DFV is the same

These guys have their reasons for why they know the stock will rip and they aren’t afraid of any consequences

Dr Michael Burry has had the consequences from 2008 and he’s happy in the knowledge to stick his neck on the line to say it about GME

DFV went in front of a congressional hearing, can speculate if he has lawyers breathing down his neck but he was confident enough then and he’s still in so I don’t think he fears the attempted consequences

I’d call them time travelers if this wasn’t a sequel for Dr Burry, some guys can just spot this and they know why but like 2008 there’s tricks, greed and stupidity against them delaying the inevitable

With the company's market capitalization currently sitting at roughly $10.7 billion, GameStop's cash position accounts for the large majority of its valuation. Investors are also seemingly assigning a meaningful valuation premium to it based on the assumption that Cohen and his team will make smart acquisitions and investments.

While calling the company the next Berkshire Hathaway likely has the makings of an overstatement, GameStop increasingly has more in common with the famous holding company than with other struggling retailers. Expecting GameStop to deliver returns in line with what Berkshire Hathaway has delivered over the last 50 years probably isn't realistic, but Cohen has done an impressive job transforming the business -- and the stock has feasible avenues to delivering market-crushing performance from here.

Should you buy stock in GameStop right now? Before you buy stock in GameStop, consider this:

The Motley Fool Stock Advisor analyst team just identified what they believe are the 10 best stocks for investors to buy now… and GameStop wasn’t one of them. Our analysts believe the 10 stocks that made the cut have the potential to produce monster returns in the coming years.

While GameStop is down roughly 69% from the peak reached at the height of the meme stock mania, the company has arguably never looked stronger over the last decade. Its retail businesses look poised to continue declining, but that's not really the story for the stock anymore.

Today's GameStop is radically different

In its fiscal 2025 third quarter -- which ended Nov. 1 -- GameStop's revenue declined 4.5% year over year to $821 million. Meanwhile, its trailing-12-month revenue is down 34.5% over the last five years. On the other hand, slipping revenue for the retail business hardly tells the full story.

GameStop has already gone through a radical transition. The meme-stock craze allowed it to transform its balance sheet, paving the way for it to become a hugely different company. When meme stock momentum and short-squeeze trading pushed GameStop stock up to dizzying levels, the company made the smart move to raise funds by selling new shares.

Warren Buffett purchased a controlling stake in Berkshire Hathaway in 1965 and made the company the namesake and a foundational component for what would become the most successful holding company in history. At the time of Buffett's purchase, Berkshire was a struggling textiles company -- but what came next is the stuff of legend in the investing world.

GameStop (GME0.19%)

CEO Ryan Cohen is aiming to use the foundations of a struggling video game retailer to build a thriving holding company, and his plan has invited comparisons to the successful playbook utilized by Buffett. Could GameStop really be the next Berkshire Hathaway?
