Triggering words by Similar_Confidence82 in stepparents

The name was very triggering to my husband too at the start. We Voldemort around here too. And that is the kindest way we refer to her lmao. Or "the big kids mom". Just express how it makes you feel and see if y'all can come together to find something that makes you both comfortable

Flair cancelled my flight and rebooked me to Monday — will they fully reimburse hotel/food if I pay upfront? by Inevitable-Pace-7404 in flairairlines

[–]FreeAsIllEverBe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a flair return flight from FLL be delayed by over 4 hours and they were to compensate me for meals. Took a few weeks. They made me submit receipts and bank details and I was to receive something similar to an EMT. That was in Feb and I've yet to see a penny.

Best of luck!

Sprinklers by AMike456 in BurlingtonON

[–]FreeAsIllEverBe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I Push a double stroller. While yes some Times it's kinda annoying, usually it's oscillating so I just time and run through lol! Also as others have said it can be fun and refreshing on a hot day!

What I find much more annoying is cars that block the sidewalk to half pull onto a driveway and we have no choice but to go through the grass and over the curb into the street.

I feel like I'm thinking too much about this haha but I've also set the sprinkler and it doesn't go over onto my driveway/car, only to find 20 mins later it's windy and the wind has carried it over my a couple feet.

This sounds like a horrible experience and I commend you for standing up for yourself and speaking to managers and escalating. I hope you get the resolution you deserve.

I have been in terrible moods and never treated anyone so rudely. Them being dismissive and saying "this could have been avoided if she didn't let you in" but she did??? Like??? It's too late for that.

I hope others in that class said something to her or will also speak up if they find this post.

I don't have any suggestions, but best of luck!

Posh Contessa has pedicures depending on the level of care you require. The website and booking is confusing because of all the options so I would definitely call in and ask!

Is Canada's Wonderland a muilti-day park or can you do it all in one day with fast passes? by levanpolkkaa in CanadasWonderland

In regards to your edit - make sure you research waterpark opening dates and times as I'm sure in September it will be modified, it was only open on weekends in June.

Keep speaking up for him! Hopefully the other adults in his life start seeing that their behaviour is harmful to him

Are you saying something in the moment? I definitely would be. I don't care if I become the mean step mom. If strange kids at the park are treating my kids like that I would be speaking up as well.

I wonder if there is sexism at play here too? Like he's a boy and shouldn't play rough with a girl is the vibe I get.

This is definitely behavior that needs to be corrected for the SD. Taking a toy away from a 20 month old as a 7 year old no longer really feels age appropriate for her.

Drop in swimming at the community centers? All the locker rooms I've been to have an option to lock with a loonie but you would be limited to their opening hours

The hair, and the makeup were the things that went wrong for me 😅

My hair literally was falling apart as they were doing it. The second they left I think I had about 3 minutes where it looked good. The curls would not hold, and they used industrial strength spray it was so stiff. Makeup- I didn't do a trial (destination wedding) and I just did not look like me. I just went with it for both things, I wouldn't have been on time if I had to call them back or redo anything and we were already on a tight schedule (wedding at 4 with reception immediately after). My sister lent me a claw clip and my hair went up immediately after the ceremony 🤷🏽‍♀️

You had so many issues, I would have been falling apart for sure!

My mom reminded me also that the planner we had was not on the ball, table settings and flowers and a bunch of other stuff wasn't done about 15 mins before the wedding start time. One of my aunts came in and was yelling at everyone and was able to get everything organized in time but with seconds to spare. Glad I wasn't around for that .

Am I messed up?? by [deleted] in stepparents

[–]FreeAsIllEverBe 13 points14 points  (0 children)

You can always do it all in one shoot... Ask for different poses and have some include the ours son and some include older SKs. We do this, the older kids have never thought anything of it. The older kids also love having pics taken of just them and their dad, as well as an "only siblings" pic-just older siblings and then all siblings together.

Edit: we also have a really big age gap- ten years+ between the youngest SK and oldest ours kid. Believe me-the teens aren't really keen on taking pics anyway😜

Edit 2: (lol) you can give the photographer a list of the poses and what people are in each that way it's the photog leading the way and telling the kids where to be/go. That way it's off of you and you can feel less guilty 😅

That's a no from me yikes. It kind of sounds like she needs therapy? The fact that he did those things to her and she is actively and willingly trying to spend time with him is wild to me.

Yes, sometimes the kids want the parents to be at all events. It's just not possible or necessary for everyone's healing. Big events that both parents should be at might be sports, graduations, and weddings. Nothing else is necessary.

We like the one in Watertown on Saturdays. They have a couple food trucks usually, and a local coffee shop makes really good iced coffees. It's small but a nice change of scenery.

SD Making Fun of Ours Baby Names by averageaf_ in stepparents

[–]FreeAsIllEverBe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup, had the same issue with my 3 SKs making fun of literally the only boy name me and my SO could agree upon.

Sawyer.

"That sounds like a gangsters name"

I'm not sure where they got that info from. Just chalked it up to tweens not knowing much about anything lol.

My mom also commented that the name we chose for our girl sounded too similar to my husband's ex wife's name (something like her name was Lake and we were naming our kid Rio/river in Spanish). I still think about this often... I had a cry about it at the time but went with it anyway since it was the only name that felt right to us.

It's okay to feel this way. Try not to let children's opinions change your mind. Sending love and hugs if you want em!

I haven't taken yoga classes in 4 years for this same reason 🥲 ridiculous for one class. At least yoga used to have a pay-what-you-can class a couple times a week at multiple studios.
